So dull.
The author should have written a recipe book. Not a romance novel.
Zero romance or character development. Over zealous descriptions for cooking.

Let me start by saying I don’t enjoy writing “bad” reviews. However, I do like to remain objective when reading books I fail to connect with, and I try to focus on the good and the bad. And try to not to get in this mood:

This story has a very implausible plot/blurp that I loved from the very beginning ♥ Adding a childhood friendship and a seemingly beautiful location (‘seemingly’ because I’ve never been to Montana), I was sold—I thought I was in for a great read!

Except it wasn’t the case for me. I think the two main issues for me were the fact that the author seemed to let the reader construct the love story between Christian and Molly, rather than makes us fall in love with them. A good example of this is the fact that I can picture Christian’s full house and decor and I have no idea of what he looks like.

Following the same line of analysis, the second issue was the fact that the author failed to “take me” to Montana. There are not enough geographical descriptions that make me connect with the place, the inhabitants, or anything, really.

On top of that, you have a course on how to run a bed-and-breakfast, and having worked in the industry for 5 years I couldn’t even relate to that.

Lastly, things seemed to developed way too quickly and it didn’t seem to be a main conflict, but a series of small obstacles the characters overcome easily instead. There’s a lack of “no-pain-no-gain” philosophy that I find necessary in this kind of story, or at least helpful to build tension and relief.

All in all, I think the story has great potential, but it wasn’t my cup-of-tea as it was.

Forced by a provision in his grandfather's will, Christian must marry Molly, his childhood friend, and live together for the next six months in Montana.

I do like marriage-of-convenience romances, silly as they can be, and so I was expecting to like this one as well. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did quite a good job injecting life into the text. The book is well-written and I rather enjoyed all the description of food, though it got a bit much at times. Molly is a likable lead.

Unfortunately, this book has a major issue - despite being a romance, we barely spend any time with Christian, the hero. Worse, neither does Molly. I never felt that the novel was particularly romantic, as they settle into the marriage like an old couple, and there's very little tension.

Not a bad book, overall, but a bad romance.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Sweet and clean romance
Three point five stars
Molly and Christian enter into an agreement to get married for six months so that Christian can inherit in grandfather’s ranch. Both have their own careers and both know that after six months the whole thing will be over. The story is whether the romance will continue after that.
The characters were very interesting and the plot was interesting too. However the range of emotions protrayed were too little and it almost felt like the story was rushed.
However still the clean romance was fun all the way.

I felt like I was reading a cookbook not a romance story. I couldn't get caught up in the relationship at all. And does Molly ever not drink wine?

Easy day read, but severely lacking

The basic plot of the story had promise. I was disappointed in the writing style as it came across very juvenile and inexperienced. I was highly annoyed that the characters were always drinking some kind of wine, eating fancy cheeses and pasta. I don't know that Italians can stomach that much pasta. It was surprisingly clean, which was refreshing.

Tediously boring - I felt like I was reading a PG version of someone diary crossed with a cookbook. Did we really need a play by play of how everything was made? This was just sooooo boring. There was absolutely no chemistry between the main characters. I skimmed the last 25% of the book - jumping over the cooking lessons to see what would happen in the end. Definitely disappointed.

I have just read a cookbook with some characters in it.

Such a nice idea (hey, I'm currently, and strangely, hooked to convenient/arranged marriage stories) but it's just...flat, lacking, no motivation. I am not moved. Like it won't make you feel anything but maybe grab a glass of wine.

L’energia che sentiva abitando a New York City era imparagonabile a qualunque altra cosa.

Alcuni cambiamenti e nuovi obiettivi indurranno i protagonisti a mettere in discussione certezze e priorità nelle quali avevano creduto fermamente.

sei-mesi-in-Montana-Kelley

Buongiorno lettori!

Come state?

Sarebbe tutto fin troppo semplice, no?

Sei mesi in Montana

Six Months in Montana by Pamela Kelley. This book takes a funny turn with a will and turns everything upside down.
Christian Ford is totally taken aback when he learns from his lawyer and best friend, Travis Jones, that his grandfather has a marriage stipulation in his will. He cannot inherit. Not only must Christian marry and stay married for six months; but he must marry Molly Bishop. She must live on the ranch for those six months. Her life is in New York City where she is in line for a promotion to manager of the Clarendon Hotel in Manhattan. This has been her dream. Now she is to put it on hold for someone she hasn’t seen in years so he can inherit?
When the Clarendon is partially closed down for six months while they renovate it and her promotion is put on hold too, she is free to help Christian out. Not only that, she is also given a chance to create and run a Bed and Breakfast out of Christian’s grandparent’s original house. Can she do this and keep her sanity in this town in the middle of nowhere? Will Christian be able to keep his developing feelings for Molly in check? What about her feelings? What about her promotion? What had Christian’s girlfriend? Things are heating up in Montana.

This was a good read. Christian's grandfather dies and in his will he has Molly and hi get married. The problem is that they haven't seen each other since they were teenagers. Of course they fall in love. This gives them their happy ending.

Every now and then I love reading a good romance novel; so, when I saw the summary for"Six Months in Montana" I thought this would be a easy and fun read. While I found the book mildly entertaining, I also found that the book lacked the depth necessary to make this a really good read.

Molly has been working hard at an upscale hotel in Manhattan and is scheduled for a promotion to General Manager. However, she receives a phone call from an attorney asking her to return to Montana to hear the will of a former neighbor. When she arrives at the restaurant she sees the attorney as well as her friend from long ago, Christian. She is shocked to discover that Christian's grandfather added a condition to his will requiring Molly and Christian to marry for Six months in order for his to receive his inheritance.

Although it sounds crazy, if they don't agree to these conditions people will lose jobs including Molly's uncle. When Molly returns to NY, she discovers her promotion has been postponed for about a year. So, with this information in hand she agrees to marry Christian. During the first weeks they get reacquainted while Molly turns Grandpa's old Victorian House into a B and B. Soon, the attraction between Christian band Molly takes over and they get together.

This book had so much potential but nothing was described or detailed in depth. Unfortunately, this did not promote a feeling that there was a serious attraction between the two characters. Additionally, the romance was tepid at best. I guess I'm use to really hot romantic scenes and I couldn't even describe this one as sweet. It truly is a shame because this book is only 200 plus pages and the author could have written an amazing story if she had added more details and not been afraid to write sex scenes. It would have probably added only added about another 100 pages.

All and all, this book was an o.k. read. Read it for yourself and decide.

This book got a lot of negative reviews. Just proves that not everyone will enjoy the same book. I loved this book. I connected to the characters right away. The plot was slow and sweet. Christian's grandfather is playing match make from the grave. I bet he was a real hoot when he was alive. In his will, he stated Christian had to marry Molly, Christian's childhood best friend. Molly, and Christian shared a dog when they were neighbors. The two were 14. As the years passed, the two drifted apart. Molly is now a manager of a hotel in Manhattan. She loves her career, and is looking forward to her next promotion. Christian is career focused as well, running the ranch, and he is also a architect, building beautiful homes. If Molly goes through with the wedding, she will have to remain married for six months, living on the ranch in Montana with Christian. She will inherit Christian's grandfather's home. She loved that home, and she loved his grandfather. If she does not go through with it, Christian will lose the ranch, and it will be sold. A lot of the people in the small town will lose their jobs. Christian employ's a lot of people. Molly thinks about it, and feels she must go through with it. I loved how the two rekindled their friendship, and found love along the way. Will the love they feel be strong enough to last at the end of the six months. You will just have to read and find out. This was a lighthearted read, with delightful characters, and very little drama. The two never got mad with one another, there was no accidents. The story was just two friends falling in love , but attempting to deny it at first. Love is something you can't fight. I'm glad the two finally embraced it. Loved this book.

No character development. No depth to the story. A big ol' bunch of inconsistent details. I think there was more wine (alcohol) in this story than there was emotion, interaction with the main characters and plot put together. It was a good idea for a book gone terrible wrong.

This is a clean, predictable, short, contemporary romance. Molly Bishop loves living in NYC and working at a small boutique hotel. At the same time she gets the news that her dream job of General Manager will be delayed by six months she is asked to return to her hometown in Montana to meet with a lawyer. Christian Ford's grandfather recently passed away. He updated his will the last time he saw Molly when she was home visiting her mother. The new will says that Christian and Molly must marry and live together for six months for Christian to inherit the ranch that has been life's work. Molly will also get a large house and property to make it worth her time.

I enjoy forced marriage tropes and had high expectations. Sadly this didn't deliver much more than the set up. The main characters are both likable but that is about it. There is never flirting or good conversations to build up the attraction between the two. They were childhood friends and haven't seen each other in ten years and they come off as nice roommates a good part of the time. Even when Molly suggests she wants the marriage to last longer Christian isn't interested because he isn't good at relationships. The ending and potential HEA feels rushed.

This book was written in 2013 and technically I'm reviewing the audio book. The narrator, Patricia Santomasso did great with what she was given. It is less than 5 hours and I listened to it in one day mostly while shelving books in my school library. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Six Months in Montana by Pamela Kelley [Pamela M. Kelley]
Montana Sweet Western Romance #1
4h 34m narrated by Patricia Santomasso, 215 pages

Genre: Romance > Contemporary Romance, Western Romance, Clean Romance; Westerns, Chick Lit, Adult Fiction

Featuring: Fictional Beauville near Bozeman, Montana; Manhattan, New York; Marriage Pact Trope, Childhood Friends, Ranch, Inn, Home Builders, Cooking, Small-Town Living, Rivalry, Sex - Off-camera, Plotholes

Rating as a movie: PG-13

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½

My thoughts: 📱68% 3:06:21 Ch. 11 - I'm kinda loving this. I might be frustrated if I can't track down the other books.

I had high hopes for this one, but there were issues. You grew up in a small town but never met your childhood best friend/neighbor's close in age, younger brother? Yeah, right. I liked the town and set up the romance was severely lacking. First of all, it takes 80% of the book for things to heat up, but there's no actual heat. The characters seem friendly but don't spend that much time together, there are 3 wack kisses and an off-camera hookup that sounded like a business transaction, all lack chemistry and even after they were sleeping together they still seemed like they weren't together. Boo! The breakup even seemed fake; this would have been better off as chick-lit. The pattern was there, but the story lacks emotion. There were also big plotholes about the inn and marriage. I think this story was rushed without complete thought.

Recommend to others?: Yeah, but just know romance isn't on the menu.

Molly Bishop loves her job in New York and is expecting to be promoted to general manager of the hotel she manages any day now. However, after a brief trip to the small Montana town where she grew up, the grandfather of her childhood friend Christian Ford decided to do a last minute will revision only a month before he died. Now, Molly and Christian must marry and live as husband and wife for 6 months, or else Christian won’t inherit the family business, and dozens of people will be out a job. Can the two wait out their 6 months and move on with life, or will they discover what they are looking for in each other?

This was a sweet, clean romance set in small town Montana. It was a quick read, with the audiobook coming in at about 4.5 hours. As such, the story jumped forward weeks or months at a time, keeping the story moving at a brisk pace. The characters are all likeable, and other than the main plot point of being forced to get married, there is little conflict in the book. There were a lot of food descriptions in the book, so if you like your books to leave you drooling over their food, you should check this one out. Overall, it was a nice story but would have been better if it had been fleshed out some to show us more of the couple spending time together and falling in love.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

It was hard for me to give this one 3 stars but it was too predictable. Sorry. Molly Bishop is up for promotion at her dream job in Manhattan but she doesn't get it. Christian's grandfather passes away and he thinks he is going to inherit the ranch but finds out he cannot unless he marries and has to marry Molly Bishop. Wait! What! Bad B movie time but they agree and plan to keep it platonic even set out to open a B&B on the ranch to keep Molly busy during her six months in Montana. Lots of wine drinking and, you got it, those feelings come out and soon they fall into bed together, but what happens at the end of the six months? Read/listen to the book. It is pretty predictable if you have ever watched a movie or read a "sweet" western romance...

This is my first book by Pamela M. Kelley and I must say I throughly enjoyed 6 months in Montana. I loved all of Molly’s culinary displays, this brought a delightful vibe to the book. Love Christian devotion and love to his grandparents. Especially loved Molly and Christian’s Romance and their sweet sweet love. Will definitely be reading more of this wonderful author’s books. Funny thing my daughter had been trying to get me to read this book for 2 years now I hate I waited so long.
