Deputy Frank Smirnov wants a peaceful life but fate has chosen a different path. He could never have imagined a course that not only gives him insight to his past but to the true origins of the human race. NSA Agent Zachariah Allmass' job is to eliminate those who know too much, and those "Beings" with powers untold that have elected to remain hidden for all these millenniums, now possess evidence he needs for his true employer, the Committee. But Allmass has an agenda of his own. Meanwhile, Roman Petrov is a violent man who puts his retirement on temporary hiatus after being left with collateral damage that leaves him no choice but to eliminate the "thorn in his side".
When these men's worlds collide, secrets that were never meant to be exposed will shake the very foundation of mankind's existence.
Xeno Manifesto by Brysen Mann is a page turner and hard to put down. It is fast-paced, well thought out story that gives the reader thought to wonder well after they finish reading. This science-fiction/fantasy novel reminds me of the X-Files in many ways, and I always enjoyed watching the show. The characters Mann created are well fleshed out and relatable. The story is fast moving, and held my attention to the end. Mann is a storyteller and has done a wonderful job writing complex issues with great clarity. If you enjoy science fiction and fantasy, pick up a copy of The Xeno Manifesto and give it a read.

The Xeno Manifesto and The Xeno Manifesto: Reclamation (the second book in the trilogy) deliver everything that is magnificent about the science fiction genre. We have the Tsiatko, a group of creatures related to the Bigfoot myth. We have funky Earthly spectacles like lava tubes. We encounter Handlers, a group who re-establish planets but it’s to save them, not take them over. We have weather modifying technologies, Roswell references, DNA anomalies, and Alien Neanderthal Cloning, all of which makes for entertaining reading.
Regina-based writer Brysen Mann does a phenomenal job of crafting characters that readers care about. Take Frank Smirnov, the main character in the books. Mann spends chapters covering Smirnov’s childhood and some of his adult years up to the present day (Smirnov is almost sixty.) So much backstory is usually irksome but in this case, we need it to fully understand Smirnov. Kudos to Mann for pulling off the perfect balance with the history lesson.
The Orb, a sphere-shaped device that contains all the data regarding a takeover of the Earth, features heavily in The Xeno Manifesto. When Smirnov and Zach, an NSA agent, spend four days learning everything the Orb knows, it is mind-blowing to them as well as us readers. With that, the first book in the trilogy ends, leaving us with the assertion that there is still hope for mankind in a world believed to be doomed.
Reclamation takes off where the first book ended, with Smirnov and Zach dealing with the leader of the Tsiatko group. Handlers return to the story disguised as humans despite being thousands of years old. Minor characters in the first book play a bigger role in the second, fleshing out the plot so we get deeper into Mann’s creative world. Smirnov’s role is vital in the context of Earth’s survival but I won’t ruin the story for you with spoilers.
Women rise to the forefront as the Handlers continue their quest to save the Earth. Reclamation ends as we are introduced to Tardigrades, an alien life form that can survive anything. I can’t help but wonder if the creatures will play a pivotal role in the last book of the trilogy as Smirnov’s story continues in The Xeno Manifesto - Redemption.
On a personal note, I want to give a shout-out to Mann for reminding me how awesome science fiction can be. I was a huge X-Files fan in the 90s and a lover of Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi tales in the early 2000s. I feel like I’ve come full circle again thanks to The Xeno Manifesto series.
I can’t wait to dig into The Xeno Manifesto - Redemption. I have no doubt that the conclusion will be as unforgettable as the journey through the first two books has been.

The Xeno Manifesto by author Brysen Mann opens in the midst of a covert operation and immediately you are engrossed in trying to find out who the target is or what it is that the team is after. We then shift away to a lab where two geneticists appear to be working under lock and key. Secrets…The Xeno Manifesto is about secrets and their unraveling.
Our protagonist is Frank Smirnov, a walking mystery, whom seems to have lived and seen so much more than his years alive on this earth. He has this quiet heaviness about him where he may not say much but many stories are locked away inside. With all the clairvoyance that Frank appears to have throughout the story, however, he knows little next to nothing about who he is and where he comes from. There is a glimpse that there is more to him than meets the eye while he is out shooting with an acquaintance, Adam, and something out of this world appears to take over him – some sort of instinct.
Over the course of the story we are introduced to a handful of fully animated secondary characters whom all hold a purpose. I enjoyed how thought out this piece was as it felt like there was nothing left up to chance. Every character no matter how miniscule they appeared to be at first meeting were part of an elaborate puzzle.
I must say that there were definite moments where I questioned what I had gotten into. I scratched my head, put the book down, did a little google searching, tried to put some things into my place, returned to the story. I don’t want to give too much away but, trust me, you keep reading and then you’re like, oh, wow. I never saw that connection coming into play. It just flows.
The Xeno Manifesto gets my nod for originality and execution. I haven’t read anything like this before and I could definitely see it being turned into a film as I feel all good books should be.

Frank Smirnov has always known he is different. Not only is he an orphan who is oblivious of his roots, but he also displays ‘Powers’ he doesn’t comprehend especially when he is in a fit of rage. An unexpected friendship sparks his interest in mystical ‘Beings,’ an interest that leads him to a mind-blowing discovery that might question everything he knows about the world and the origin of mankind.
This is an exciting and suspenseful book and the author successfully keeps it interesting until the last page. In addition to a very promising premise which is introduced in a fast paced series of events, the characters are thoroughly portrayed in ample back stories. The mystery is suspended as the author shifts the plot by introducing another set of characters with equally ample back story. The excitement continues as the plot converges in a surprising and unexpected twist. This is, indeed, one exciting and enjoyable suspense thriller.
However, other readers may find the timelines a bit confusing. Moreover, though the back stories are ample, too ample in fact that some readers may feel being thrown off the plot, and seemingly sufficient, there are details that sound ambiguous. Furthermore, I find the ending inconclusive which leaves some questions unanswered. Finally, there are too many noticeable errors within the entire book that can easily be fixed by another round of editing.
I was given an e-copy of The Xeno Manifesto by Brysen Mann for review.
The best description for this book would be for me, Ancient Aliens meets The X Files, and that's a good thing. It feeds my literary addiction for stories that fall under the heading of "conspiracy theory". I love it.
Aliens, Bigfoot, lost technology, government cover-ups. It's all here. Sci-Fi fantasy with just enough technology to be interesting but not overwhelming. Lots of twists and turns. Violence, suspense, mystery and redemption. I really enjoyed how the tables were turned in this tale. How, you ask? You know me better than that, no spoilers here. The main character, Frank, is not the most sympathetic character, but the author does develop him well, we easily understand him and his motivations.
My negatives? The file I received was not that clean. Many typos that should have easily been caught by proofreaders. Stylistically I had a bit of difficulty with the author switching from a third person narration to first person action. This left me a bit unsettled at times. The back story on Frank while very interesting and compelling on it's own, was very lengthy and distracted from the main story because it took so long to resolve.
Negatives aside, I found The Xeno Manifesto very interesting and fun. A cleaner version would probably have received a higher rating. Fans of aliens, Bigfoot, cover-ups and intrigue will like The Xeno Manifesto by Brysen Mann. Enjoy!
This novel is an incredibly compelling read that will leave you wanting to know more about the main character, Frank. As an adopted child, he never knew the truth about his past until his journey ends up leading him to find answers not only about his own origin, but the origin of the entire human race. The concept of The Xeno Manifesto is definitely unique and will engage readers from the very beginning leaving them wanting to stay for the fast paced unfolding of the plot and character development. I really enjoyed Brysen's ability to create each scene with depth and detailed orientation for readers. The descriptions are profound and will leave you with a clear picture of where the characters are and what they are experiencing. Yet, despite the meticulously thought out scenes, Brysenw as able to keep an air of mystery throughout the entire novel that left me needing to turn the page. This novel runs a parallel of one man's journey to find answers to his past and newfound abilities with humanities' never-ending desire to understand what life means and where we all come from. I believe Brysen ran this parallel in a very elegant way when looking at the overarching plot. Readers who enjoy complex plots with great scene descriptions and character growth will find The Xeno Manifesto enjoyable!
I'm sure most of you at some point in your life must have questioned the genuineness and competency of the Government. What if I told you that aliens do exist and the government is hiding this fact from you, Would you believe me? Xeno is written along similar lines.Aliens+Adventure=So much Fun.(Thank you Brysen for the review copy) After a long long time, I read something other than a fantasy or a rom-com. It's really out of my comfort zone, but the synopsis of the book sounded so interesting that I had to pick it up. (Also It sounded similar to a book series I adore. Can you guess which one??) Xeno was interesting, surprising and unpredictable. There were a few "woahh" moments which really made things interesting.Without revealing the plot I'd like to say some twists were really awesome (I can't possibly get vaguer) I usually refrain from reading books where authors delve too much into details, sometimes they're just not needed. This book did get a tad bit detailed but overall it was a wonderful read. I loved all the characters though there were some unexpected blows to my heart. And ohh that cliffhanger. Ps: If you love reading fast-paced series, this is a great book for you. Pick it up and dive in now !!
I was asked by the author to read this book. It’s not my usual genre I’ve been trying to get out of my usual reads. I have to tell you I loved this book! 👍🏼 following frank through his journey. Trying to figure out who this mysterious man is. The description of the locations where he lives made me think I was there I could picture it so perfect. The character was just so intriguing you wanted to find things out with him. I can’t explain without giving it all away. But the story is about frank he’s adopted knows nothing about his parents, he doesn’t socialize well ends up making one friend. He realizes early that he has special skills, that he doesn’t age like others he’s just different. He goes through different jobs doing what he does best. Until he comes across a dead body hikers found. The body leads to a secret living space in the mountains and he finds a journal. Now the NSA is after him and he goes on the run for what he’s discovered, what he doesn’t realize is That he is the key to everything!!!! Read this book I truly enjoyed it!
What a wild ride this novel is! Author Brysen Mann graciously contacted me and offered me a free Kindle copy of his book in exchange for a review, and I can honestly say that he absolutely blew me away with The Xeno Manifesto. I always love a book that I can't put down, and although they're rare to stumble across, this sci-fi adventure novel absolutely took the cake! I started reading it on January 26th and just finished it, today, on January 28th. As a huge fan of conspiracy theories, The Xeno Manifesto definitely brought out my tin-foil hat side.
I would absolutely recommend that sci-fi fans buy this book! You will certainly not regret it. Mr. Mann, I very much look forward to seeing more from you in the future!
"The story is compelling, fascinating and has that mystery and thriller it promises, i loved the world building here, at points it felt a little eerie which is a good thing and it contributes to the overall theme of the book. The characters are properly developed with enough back story, so that we can relate to them or be invested in them. I loved how the main character was developed through a flashback, it did not take me away from the present time yet be interested in how he is as he has come to be. For the story, it had a great plot, with a good pacing and with every chapter the mystery intensifies and you want to keep on reading.
This the first time i have read anything from this genre and this book made pick up more like this one."
What an amazing debut novel...a mix of science fiction and mystery, which I am all about!! This book is full of adventure and also action packed and it keeps you wondering page after page. I especially loved the scenery and mystery of it all! Thanks to the author, Brysen Mann, for sending me a copy for my honest review!!
The way the story twisted and expanded, just kept me so invested in the world being built. I honestly didn’t know where it was heading, what else was going to be added.
Not a fan of the ending but then again it leaves more room for a sequel, which means more story, more everything.
(Disclaimer: I received a free copy from the Author. Does not affect my review)
In my opinion it was a bit hard to get into. Maybe I wasnt paying attention very well but seemed to me that it was very sporadic and a bit all over the place. Towards the end it got really good and left on a cliff hanger that definitely made me want to read the second one. Over all, if you're into sci-fi I'd definitely recommend it as it does get you thinking about what is really out there
If you’re into suspenseful mysteries with a little science fiction thrown into the mix, I’m pretty sure this will be in your wheelhouse. As an added bonus, it’s heavy on conspiracy so that was fun too! As a whole, great book from start to finish with lots of surprising twists.
