This installment was really cute because Ebi comes out of his shell and really begins to express his feelings for Moe. I wasn't really expecting that, but it's great that he's beginning to realize how special she is and I think the two of them would make a great couple. Another interesting element about this specific volume is the introduction of the classmate who also appears to have a crush on Moe. The introduction of this character makes the volume end on a cliffhanger and I'm wondering what will end up happening. There was some miscommunication which I'm not a huge fan of, but overall I think that the story worked well. Ready to dive into the next volume.

Well . . . that did not get better.
Actually, I think it got worse.

In this volume we’re introduced to one of Moe’s classmates, Mitaka, who seems okay at first, but as the volume progresses, we learn that he is Definitely Not Okay. He goes out of his way to meet Moe’s crush, Kyosuke, in person and acts as if he’s a nice, supporting friend while thinking of how to get Moe to be with him. He reads like a guy who will complain about “the friend zone” after he’s approached her with what he presents as friendly intentions and then is later denied a romantic relationship or sex. He openly says that he’s rooting for Moe while thinking that “he has tough competition”.

Meanwhile Moe x Kyosuke act out the cliches of a non-communicative crush/relationship without having any idea of Mitaka’s intentions. The age-gap is still not clarified, and it still feels wrong.

The part where Kyosuke is tricked into attending a blind date and then later forced to take off his shirt in front of women who are ogling him was disgusting and very much unnecessary – there are better ways of setting up misunderstandings, you don’t have to use harassment as a plot device.

I do like Shinichiro and Genki even though they’re still pushing Kyosuke onto Moe and as grown men they really should be more responsible. It’s not the job of a teen girl to help Kyosuke move on from the loss of a loved one, even though Shinichiro is trying to set her up to do exactly that.

I liked this one more than book 1! More movement in their relationship, some jealousy shown, another possible love interest introduced.

I don’t like that the hero uses the word idiot :( especially when the heroine does something, well…dumb.
I also don’t love that she’s in high school and he’s living on his own - but I’m ignoring that because that isn’t going to go away 😂 I’ll just pretend she’s in college 😂

This continues to be a really sweet series. I love seeing Ebihara come into his feelings for Moe, and it's just so full of blushing I can hardly stand it! I can't wait for more in this series!

I truly just can't get enough of these two, and the people around them rooting for them to have a relationship. Age gaps can be hard, but this one is done REALLY WELL!!!

The only good thing about this is FL's adorable little brother and the fact that the ML is an older, shy, extremely hot, firefighter Kageyama. That's it.

I'm just SO happy Kodansha is licensing this series. I've enjoyed it immensely so far. I love the artwork, Ebihara-san is stinkin' hot. I guess I'm really drawn to black-haired guys for some reason. Anyway, there's some awkwardness in this one, but I like that Moe confronts Ebihara and actually gets mad instead of just down and sulky. I like strong-willed heroines. There's also a new boy showing up, who is really cute. I can't wait to read more of this series.

SUMMARY

moe sasaki is crushing on her local fireman. they keep running into each other and he ends up having to rescue her from some kind of near injury. kyosuke ebihara secretly likes her back but won’t reciprocate her crush with their age difference. they run in the same circles, and run into each other time and time again. fate seems to keep putting them near each other.

🔥 age gap
🔥 firefighter
🔥 slow-burn

SPOILERS

moe and her little brother, ryu, attend a cookout with the local firefighters. moe and kyosuke are assigned to wash dishes in the kitchen, leaving the ones that actually know how to grill outside. her friend comes inside to alert her that her little brother was missing. moe and kyosuke run through the woods thinking he ran off to swim in the river. with the rain, moe slips and falls into the river herself. kyosuke dives in and saves her. they eventually find out that her little brother actually wasn’t in any danger after all. he was in the bathroom the entire time and didn’t run off alone.

moe has exams coming up next week. the author intended the FMC to be a high school student, but i aged her up to at least twenty in my head. i can’t read an age gap romance with the FMC having teen in the name. an age gap trope can never be problematic.

mitaka is a classmate of hers and they study together at a nearby cafe he works at. after class one day, he even walks her home and a fire truck passes them by. he figures out that her crush is a local firefighter and he goes to the fire station to check him out. mitaka likes moe, and he even offers her a part time position at the cafe to stay close to her.

kyosuke’s colleagues encourage him to tell moe that he likes her back, but he’s reluctant given their age difference. i’d say he’s in the beginning of his twenties. he asks his friend for advice on a gift you’d give a woman even if she’s just a friend and he’s been keeping it in his locker, not having the nerve yet to give it to her. his coworkers tease him about going to visit her at her new job and even tell him to order a matcha latte. he tells them he’s not going but he ends up in line ordering the exact recommendation anyway.

kyosuke gets a call late at night from one of his colleagues claiming that there’s an emergency. except the situation wasn’t a fire but they had an odd number at the bar and they needed an extra man on their side while they flirted with some local women at the bar. kyosuke gets up to leave but notices one of the woman not feeling well so he platonically offers to walk her home safely. mitaka was walking moe to her house to ensure that she got their safely after work when they pass by kyosuke holding onto another woman. he thought she was too drunk to walk straight and was holding her upright but she lied to him. he told her that he likes someone else and stepped away from her touching him.

sayumi, her best friend, convinces her to travel four hundred miles to cheer him on at his fireman’s competition. she didn’t want to go if it would bother him, thinking he doesn’t like her back. moe & sayumi get there only to find out that their friend mitaka followed them there.

3.5 stars. So...good news is that I am not feeling any icky feelings about the age gap. I still feel like it's a super delicate situation that could go bad quickly...but our male main character in this book is really behaving very admirably. There's feelings there but he isn't acting creepy or doing ANYTHING inappropriate. The bad news is...I kinda feel like it's a little TOO slow...but if it was any faster that wouldn't work either. Basically...I wish out female lead was aged up a little bit so it could move just a LITTLE faster.

The story continues! I love how the story focuses on Moe just getting to know Ebi day by day, which involves getting a lot of behind the scenes of how the fire station operates! There's an obvious age gap between these two, but it's done in a way that isn't cringey. Everything is still very innocent.

The story is slightly getting better, the two characters still really need to grow and I hope to see that.
She's just so ''small'' and so weak :/
and the romance is based on that.
Still cute but I hope to see more.

Still about 3.5.

This is about Moe and Kyosuke, and their developing romance. I liked this one a little bit more because you get a little bit more from Kyosuke's character but this series is still a slow build for me. It continues to be cute though.

That mitaka-kun (second ML) need to back down. I have never had second lead syndrome and I’m not starting now.

This guys seems nice and all but he’s pretty nosey for him to go searching for Ebihara-san.

More drama to come

Ooh loving this

The suspense and tension between the two main characters is addictive. I'm really enjoying following them. They are suited together so well. They just need to realise what they feel for each other and admit it.

I’m really enjoying this series and the antics continue. I always look forward to how the author will progress the story without be a wash rinse repeat feel. So far I haven’t been disappointed. I’m really liking this series.

Can’t get you outta my mind

Sometimes I get annoyed when they can’t just tell each other how they feel in books/manga and they just beat around the bush, but I don’t mind it in this. They are super cute!

This isn’t the best manga series I’ve read. I can’t think of anything that really makes it special compared to others of its kind. It is interesting enough to keep reading.

Just as cute as the first one!

Enjoying this one a lot. I love watching her make friends and expand herself, not just focusing on the love interest.
