Blake has fine tuned his Jet characterization! Each book leaves you ready for her next mission. I've recommended his books to a lot of readers who are just as hooked as I am! Keep Jet going Russell, you have a lot of fans! Evidently tequila is your friend!
JET, a former Mossad agent, and now a somewhat reluctant contractor works directly for it's director. Her skill set's are lethal. She is tasked with paying a hostage ransom and returning the kidnapped Israeli executives and there hostess from an African gang lord. Nothing goes as planned. A simple payoff goes south when crooked police officials are on the take. Now it's up to JET to get them back. An extremely fast paced action thriller laced with deceit and betrayal. An excellent read!
I read these books because of Jet, so it’s nice to meet her early in the book, not chapter six. I don’t mind the author setting the scene, but he does this five times with different groups of people and different locations. It starts with a diamond smuggler, then an Israeli press conference, an African crime lord, a village medical crisis and finally a Nairobi dinner party. By now I was ready to give up.
When Jet did appear, she was just told she had a job and then she didn’t appear again for another five chapters, this is now a quarter of the book and I was really fed up. Unfortunately this pattern continues with Jet just making quick guest appearances, to make matters worse the author has decided, for some unknown reason, to make her incompetent. At this point I did give up.
I just finishing a marathon reading session that began when Mr. Blake chose to put the Jet series on the Kindle Unlimited program for 90 days. I had read the first one a year or so ago when it was free, but being on a fixed income prevented me from buying the rest.
If you like a strong female protagonist, you will love this series of non-stop thrills on almost every page. Although the books can be read out of order, the personal story line develops, so it's better to read them in order. I just hope Mr. Blake has a #14 in the works and also that he decides to remain in the unlimited program.
From illegal drug trials to crazy kidnappings, the excitement never stops. Blake's series about a female James Bond takes one to places most of us will never see and his descriptions of these localities seem so real, as if the author has been to all of them. In the midst of it are picturesque descriptions of mountains, architecture, sunrises and sunsets. The main character, Jet, is unbelievable. Could any woman, a young mother, be such a strong, intuitive and successful agent?
Jet wasn’t mentioned until 12% into the book, something I don’t like. When I read chapter 9; I had to go back and reread chapter 3 as I couldn’t remember the characters, then where is Jet? I thought she was hired to see the exchange go as advertised? Yet the cops tried to make an exchange? Then there’s going to be another exchange. Really this is a story of African gangs where Jet has a minor role. After I finished the book, it is not that bad a story, but it doesn’t grip you like a good story should.
I gave book 12 a good, this is OK, purely because what made 12 good has continued into book 13 so even more repetitive To put it bluntly, it's becoming too formulative. No real surprises, If anyone picks up this book as a one off, it's good, really good, 4* good. However book 13 and it's becoming too same ole. It's fast paced, it's action packed, but there is nothing new
This story was heartbreaking with horrific tragedies on top of a devastating way of life. It's unfathomable to me how anyone can take advantage of those less fortunate, especially excusing their evil away, and blaming others for the depraved actions. I can only hope that these types of stories only exist in the fictional world. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
It's funny how when things go crazy Jet is expected to save the day. You would think that with this one taking place in Africa Jet would not have been tapped to help as she didn't work there. Jet didn't let that stop her, she managed to do what she was tasked for, but of course there were issues. I thought Jet went a little easy on the person behind the big issue.
the greatest review I can offer; I've read 13 and have just downloaded # 14.
Great twists likable character hints of Clavell, Clancy, and Flynn
Readers might want to check out the Bloody Jack series. It has the same flavor of a distressed heroine that keeps falling into difficult situations; and has to survive..
'Renegade' was another creative story to an awesome series. I love how Jet keeps consistent with being true to herself, but doing what needs to be done to get back to her family. I love how the author comes up with different and creative scenarios for Jet to kick-ass repeatedly. A must add to your tbr list.
Jet must risk everything to foil a kidnapping that threatens a diplomat's daughter in the wilds of Africa.
As usual, the action begins in scene one and doesn't stop until the end. When children are involved it takes the tension to high levels. This is the case with Renegade. Not all goes as planned, also causing the conflict to skyrocket. Very good read.
From book 1 on you’ll be impressed with the way Blake sets the stages for the intricacies of the plot lines. The depth of knowledge (or bs) that he instills into each situation is very well researched and portrayed. Each book will want to to go to her next adventure(s)!
I havevery much enjoyed the Jet series and feel this novel may have been written too quickly. It doesn't have the plots or page turner that previous Jet series novels have had for me.
Jet shows off her talents, her brains, and her heart in this adventure. Plenty of action and thrills mixed with compassion and humanity mixed with problem-solving and situational awareness. It's always fun reading Jet's capers and watching her come out victorious.
Very entertaining, love the characters, good story, kept me wanting more. Jet is alittle looser in this one, more in your face less planning All business. If you like assassin trained spy stories jet will keep you reading.
Another remarkable story, filled with heart stopping action.
Jet never seems to get the break in her life she so richly deserves. Her employer continues to require her unique skills. A heart thumping addition to the ongoing saga of the Jet series.
Good story and a different spin on the usual Jet action by taking her fight to a remote location. The ending seemed a little odd...trying to show off Jet's more human side, but it still didn't feel quite right. Excellent action all throughout, and good twists in the story.
Unknown to Jet (and us), a young idealist makes a deal with the devil and all hell breaks loose in Africa! Out of her element Jet’s Mossad skills deliver and she accomplishes her mission. The twist at the end is a surprise.
This is an imaginative novel with non stop action in Nairobi and surrounding areas of Kenya but goes quite a bit too far in proposing relationships with a character who is supposedly in cahoots with a local crime lord.
Quite a twist, twice, in this one. Never saw either one coming. The drug company sub-plot is sort of left hanging. Biggest question? Will Jet ever have peace?
Jet must rescue the daughter of the ambassador in a lawless country in Africa. The storyline takes on twists and turns to keep the story interesting and entertaining.
I really liked this one, it took a while to focus on Jet, but once it did, it was good. I kind of like it when Hannah and Matt play limited roles in the story. More time for Jet's asskickery!
