I am not a bodyguard. I am a Personal Security Agent. While it may seem like a matter of semantics, I do more than guard a person's physical well-being. I protect everything they hold dear, everything they cherish - their bodies, their families, their property, their sanity. Everything. And I'm not just good at what I do. I am the top agent at the best personal security firm in the country. I am also a woman, but don’t let that change your opinion of me. Very few people can do what I do, and even fewer can do it as well. Most of us work for Sentinel Security. My name is Agent Nicolette Alessi. I left a successful career in the FBI as a special agent and profiler to watch over some of the richest, most famous, and most powerful people in the world. I've brought down drug lords, killers, and weapons dealers. I've earned kudos, high marks, and special requests from senators, national security directors, billionaires, and most notably to me- my dad. He taught me to fight, to shoot, to look for the hidden stories in body language, and to never accept good enough when excellence is achievable. My brothers try to claim credit for my skills, but it all belongs to my dad. While I’ve always been his little girl, I have also grown into a strong, capable, and completely kickass woman. After a string of air-headed actresses and demanding heiresses as clients that have left me wishing for something more exciting, my boss gives me what just might be my most challenging client yet. He is arrogant, entitled and whiney; an actor getting death threats delivered – literally - to his front door. He is also tall, dark and sinfully sexy. He is a serial dater, doesn’t do commitment, doesn’t do the girlfriend thing. Everyone in Hollywood knows that. Everyone, that is, except my boss. My job is to keep the pretty boy alive while the rest of my team works with the police to figure who is trying to kill him. I can't allow myself to want him, but when my assignment has me posing as his girlfriend, I’ll be forced to spend lots of time with him in some compromising positions. I’ll grin and bear it in the name of a job well done, but will I be able to keep my focus on the job and not on the delicious man with the softer side the world doesn't get to see? For me, the blurb was better than the book. Sorry.

I thought that the story stayed superficial (in the sense, that it was mostly a narration/description of events rather than scenes of conversations). As such, I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters.

I wanted more dialogue, more flirty-snarky banter between the MC's. I was missing the feels you get when the romance is good --- mainly because I couldn't understand why, where, or when the MC's fell in love with each other. I kept flipping back to certain chapters thinking that I must have dozed off and skipped relevant chapters, only to find out that I didn't.

Great characters and story

I loved the leads and the support characters. I liked it so much that I looked for other books by this author, so I could find out how other characters got together (started at a wedding) and was disappointed to find there were none. However, I cannot wait to read future stories that show what happens to those in this west coast security firm. The suspense was great and while I do not know what it is like to be an actor it felt real. Great job.
