A must-have gift book: the wit, wisdom, and frequent diatribes of mad scientist Rick Sanchez of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty, the Emmy-winning, #1 animated series on TV.
Finally, from the self-appointed Most Intelligent Being in the Multiverse Rick Sanchez of Rick and Morty: a mind-bending collection of his innate and acquired wisdom.
Each season, Rick and his grandson Morty embark on thrilling earthly and intergalactic adventures, all for the benefit of science (and Rick's inflated ego). But what makes the depraved genius tick? Now Rick is eager to impart his unique (and sometimes disturbing) take on life, love, and everything in-between for the benefit of aspiring mad scientists everywhere.
Fully illustrated with color images from the show, The World According to Rick is a collection of Rick's most famous (and not so famous) sayings, monologues, and quotes, complete with a personal introduction by the mad man himself. A truly unique and special book, this collectible is sure to become a cult favorite like the show that inspired it.

Don't hate the player, hate the game, son.
“But I’ll tell you how I feel about school. It’s a waste of time. Bunch of people running around, bumping into each other. Guy up front says ’two plus two,’ people in the back say ’four.’ Then the bell rings and they give you a carton of milk and a piece of paper that says you can go take a dump or something. I mean it’s, it’s not a place for smart people.”
If you like Rick and Morty, don't get this book. It's basically Rick and Morty without the rest of the dialogue in the episodes. I thought it was going to be fake reports on science stuff but it's nothing but Rick Quotes throughout the entire book. If I wanted to hear or read Rick quotes... I'd just browse through the Rick and Morty reddit page to hear millions of "I'm PICKLE RIIIICK!!!" Ugh, save yourself the time (and annoyance) and just watch the show.
First of all: Thank you Hachette for giving me this book.
I love Rick & Morty, it's an incredible show, so I really wish that I could have given this book a better rating.
I really enjoyed it for what it is: a book categorizing the sayings of Rick Sanchez. The illustrations were great, expecially the one with the Szechuan Sauce.
The thing that caused me to give this book such a low raiting is the censoring. They censored Rick. When writters, singers, directors and artists chooses to use swear words, there's a reason. Censorships ruins the core material and turns it into something else. Something less.
So to sum up: Great book, love the artwork but not a big fan of the censoring.
Still glad to receive it from Hachette and for it to be a part of my Rick & Morty collection 🙂
I bought this book for my 13 year old because she loves all things Rick and Morty. I like the show myself, but I feel like this book was lacking. As others have said, it is just a bunch of Rick quotes, which in itself isn’t a bad thing. I think it would have been better received if it included some new Rick commentary or something. But you’re not gaining anything from this book if you’ve watched the show.
That said, my kid has read it twice and loves it. Ymmv. Merch collectors will appreciate it and it would probably make a fun gift.
Wow, I absolutely enjoyed this book and one thing I don't understand at all is the negative review?!!! This book contains several deep and meaningful dark quotes about life and honestly people who give low ratings are quite ignorant to be as frank as possible Seriously guys C'mon , why would you give this remarkable book below 3 stars what's wrong?!
"I say, appreciate the life you have, because it can always be worse. "
"weddings are basically funerals with cake. if I wanted to watch someone throw their life away, I'd hang out with jerry all day."
"You're talking about taking over planets and galaxies. You gotta just remember to let go sometimes, you know?"
"Morty, you're bumming me out. Can't we just pretend like everything's fine for a few hours, enjoy ourselves, and then worry about all this later?"
"It appears the lower tier of society is being manipulated through sex and advanced technology by a hidden ruling class. Sound familiar?"
"Listen Morty, I hate to break it to you, but what people call love' is just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, Morty then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. I did it, your parents are gonna do it. Break the cycle, Morty. Focus on science"
I can understand the low ratings for this book, but in truth, this is strictly for "Rick & Morty" fans, the humorous (and gross) show on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" block.
Created as a response to Doc & Marty from the "Back to the Future" franchise, Rick & Morty follows scientist Rick Sanchez who sometimes has a heart but more often than not has a quick put-down or a long speech about metaphysics or space travel.
If you're a fan, this is for you. Until we get the huge coffee table book of art, behind-the-scenes information (which are all on the DVDs by the way), or other gems, this one will do just fine.
