From bestselling author Sienna Valentine…

With half his body in shadow, he looked like a mythic hero, cut in high contrast and larger than life…

JASE

This MC took me in when no one else would. It was the only real family I’ve ever known. Her asking me to leave was bullshit, but then disappearing without even saying goodbye was so much worse.

I was done with Maggie then. I never wanted to see her face again.

Five years. Five years of anger, pain and regret. Five years to move on and forget.

And five seconds to get sucked back in.

MAGGIE

I have no right coming back here. No right asking for help. Not after the way I left everything - the way I left Jase.

But what choice do I have? I’m dead if I don’t.

I’ve made so many bad choices in my life. Caused so much pain. Maybe I deserve what’s coming to me. What right do I have putting Jase, my father, and the whole MC in danger just to help me?

The MC is Jase’s sanctum, and I may not deserve it, but I’m praying that it can now become mine.

Note: This is a stand-alone romance novel with an HEA ending. It contains sex and violence and is intended for adults only.

I thought 'Sanctum' was ok, but personally it didn't have enough conflict or back and forth to keep me interested. It was also quite a short story, and I was surprised that it came to an end so quickly, only to find that the rest of the book was occupied by other short stories. The main protagonists didn't have much going for them, and the conflict between them was resolved fairly quickly. In comparison to other MC books this was quite tame, but more than that the characters weren't all that appealing. A few more layers in this story and a better and fuller development might have made me rate this higher.

'Sanctum' is a second chance MC romance about Maggie who abandoned her dad's MC and her teenage sweetheart Jase when she craved a different life than the one her father wanted for her. I gave this two stars because it was simply 'ok'.

That was the tamest biker book I have ever read.. So the heroine is this whiny little bish who's daddy is the president of Dog something MC. Her boyfriend at the time is part of the MC.. She feels like her dad doesn't want them together and is constantly having to share her time with her dad when it comes to her man.. UM? Bish! If you're dad didn't want ya'll together ya'll wouldn't be! The nerve on this child.. so she just runs off, no word to anyone..gets her trifflin behind in trouble and five years later comes running to daddy needing his help. And of course the boyfriend she left behind just falls into her lap too.

What really surprised me was that this MC had no club ho's, what's so ever! Jase supposedly had women after she left him, but where are they?
As I said it was tame, it felt like it had nothing to do with an MC but a whiny little girl needing a lesson in growing up!

Realism

Let me preface by saying that realism is a must for me to enjoy a book. Even in para and high fantasy, there must be some degree of realism surrounding those plot points to ground the book.... ie make the vampire twinkle, but give me the believable logic behind it, too.

So, its ironic that I'm about to tell you this book may have took realism to an unenjoyable place for me.

I often complain that MClub romances make the female MC out to be some sweet innocent wilting flower to be rammed, tanned, and tamed by the big bad alpha male MClub. Meanwhile, in reality... sweet, innocent, and shy just doesn't logically coexist with the fabric of a Mclubs.

This book's female MC, Maggie, is the complete opposite of shy, sweet, and innocent.

Honestly, she's probably a highly realistic version of what I'd imagine a female growing up in an MClub would be like.

That said, she is completely unlikable. She's the type of female MC that the reader actually roots to see in a death scene vs a HEA.

Maggie

Ehhh. Maggie is just not someone that anyone with a conscious or shred of moral fiber could root for. The level of her selfishness is just something that a lot of readers will find impossible to overlook.

She leaves Jase and her father without so much as a goodbye and stays gone almost 6 years.

She comes back bringing a shitstorm with her and asking for help. She doesn't apologize for over half the book, and it's not sincere or emotional at all when she finally does half ass apologize. Yet, she has the audacity to ask them for help.

She lies about the degree of the shitstorm coming and puts them all in danger.

She's mad, sarcastic, and childish because Jase is mad that she left. She's like a petulant child most of the time.

She brings a man in the bathroom to screw just so that she can hurt Jase, who's done NOTHING WRONG.

She abandons her new life and the friends there just like she did her old life... No goodbyes or explanations. She's always leaving other people to deal with her mess and hurt.

She doesn't blink an eye, much less feel guilty, when she's told that a lot of innocent people die in a bar shooting aimed at her.

She robbed and stole from her employer and other random people.

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the drift. She's a horrid character.

Jase

I was good with Jase until 47%. He tries to do the right thing even though she hurt him badly. He's angry, and understandably so. But, around 45%, this anger just starts melting away. Again, she hasn't apologized & is actually mad at him for being mad at her. Yet, he just suddenly drops the anger without any rationale or reasoning.

Plot

The overall plot is okay. It's predictable and not at all complex, but tolerable. The characters, the sudden reconnect romance and sweeping feelings under the rug, however, are 0 star elements. Everything is Insta-resolve with little narrative or dialogue on any other type of rhyme and reason.

Sanctum – A Black Dog MC Novel
Sienna Valentine
4 stars

Im really not sure why the ratings are so low on this book. It’s a standalone with an HEA. Yes it’s a quick and easy read but it has a good story line with good characters, action, sexy time and suspense. There is a villain and a really nice tattooed alpha dude …. After reading some of the reviews giving a book a low rating because of the font is just ridiculous but it is what it is. Im simply giving a shout out to the author because I thought it was a good read.

Jase and Maggie were deeply in love. However Henry her father and the president of the MC is trying everything he can to keep them apart. Maggie begs for Jase to leave everything behind and start over far away from the club. Five years later after leaving that night alone Maggie has returned and needs the protection of the place she left behind. Not only has she told no one she is returning but knowing she will have to face Jase after leaving five years ago without a single goodbye might just destroy her.

Maggie feels she has no right to come back. She left and she has had no contact with her father or the MC since she walked away. However, she has gotten herself into trouble. Imagine that. She tried the simple and boring life her father wanted for her and she couldn’t do it. Maggie gets in deeper with some not so nice men. When Evan starts to take everything away from her and expect more she knows she has to get away. The club is the best protection she can have but leaving the way she did there is no way to know if they will protect her much less want her back.

Jase and Maggie’s situation ignites in all ways possible. Holy moly they are intense. Henry puts Jase on protection detail of his daughter knowing he is the best. Tempers flare, bullets fly and no one is safe. There has to be more to Maggie’s story than she is sharing. Until the club finds out what everyone is in danger.
I liked this book. It was a great easy read; in fact I read it at the beach yesterday in full .. on sitting. Grab this one up. I believe its Free on Kindle Unlimited.

Review to post on Ramblings From Beneath the Sheets blog. I was glad to see the reviews were much better on Amazon for Regina. The ratings on GR are smeesh .. and over silly things.

So hard to connect with any character

First, the formatting on this book is horrible. The font is giant and you can't make it smaller and the author triple spaces between paragraphs. It's annoying and a cheap ploy to make the book seem longer than what it is.
Actually, maybe that's not a bad thing because there is no real point to the story. In the prologue Maggie wants to leave the MC world. Okay, she does and comes back and when it's finally revealed why she came back... it's all glossed over. It also seems like the reason she left MC and her family is glossed over. That's the problem with this book; there is no depth. It almost reads like a book summary that an author would have before sitting down and writing an actual novel with a plot and character development.

Entertaining

I felt like this story needed more something. I didn't like or dislike the heroine and that's troubling because usually that brings the reader into the story. I was disappointed by the lack of interaction with the characters.

4.5 Stars! I feel like this book had the perfect amount of drama, angst and passion. I liked that Maggie and Jase had a little bit of trouble getting back together but quickly resolved their issues. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

JASE AND MAGGIE

I don't know why it took me so long to read this book. I enjoy Sienna's writing and Motorcycle Club is my favorite genre. The story was good, the characters were interesting and there was plenty of action and a surprise twist I didn't see coming. It was a story about club life, family dynamics and second chance love. Jase had always been in love with Maggie until she abruptly left sending her life into a tailspin. Once she returns, it just gets worse before it gets better. Good book I look forward to reading the next one about Will.

I liked this book and the characters but did find there was so much left out and everything was happening fast and not in a good insta love way, i found relationships just didn’t go deep enough and emotions where surface at best. However like i did state i did enjoy the characters as individuals and the plot itself.

Quick little filler read. Some editing errors but I do have to say as someone involved in a real life MC, this is the FIRST Mc book I’ve been able to finish. Usually they’re so cringe I DNF.
Extra star for him hopping on his motorcycle naked to chase her down. I’d die to see that 😂

Enjoyed

I like MC stories that have good plots interesting characters and none of the sadistic women slavery garbage. This book has good characters, sassy females, hot alpha MC bikers and interesting plots. It's got all the good stuff I like and none of the garbage stuff. Good MC story. I am moving on to read book two. Just wish it was in audible format !

WoW what an incredibly intense start to a series, but I loved it! This is the second book by Sienna Valentine I've read in one sitting, but of two different storylines and I cannot get enough! She has a way of not only gripping you but keeping your attention from the first line throughout the entire book, it flows seamlessly. I've read many MC books, and luckily they're different, but this one still flows along the truthfulness of what TRUELY happens within that life. They are family first and protect each other when it's needed, especially when it's the Pres' daughter. Even after she's run away and comes back bringing trouble to their doorstep.
Maggie and Jase are in love, they're young but know it's the real thing. The problem is that Maggie is the Pres' only daughter and he wants her as far away from club business as he can get her. Jase is in thick with Henry, he saved him after there was trouble within his life when he was young. Jase wants Maggie to move in with him and wait it out in hopes Henry will come to his senses and let them be together. Maggie wants Jase to marry her and move away with her. Jase says no, so Maggie runs away on her own. Which only breaks both of their hearts.
Maggie ends up in trouble and right back into the town she vowed never to return to, but she needs her father and his MC's protection. It's definitely not what she ever wanted to do or ask for. But she has to face her father. Henry of course will protect her, but she has to tell him what's going on. Henry in turn puts his best guy on protection detail, who happens to be Jase! Can Jase and Maggie get over their past history in order to keep her safe? Or will the hurt and hate get in the way and get them both killed? You'll have to read it to find out, but I cannot wait to read Retribution (MC DOGS Book 2). Due to sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 17 and older. I give this story 5 stars

Once again, Sienna Valentine proves herself as a great storyteller. I’ve come to expect a steady-paced, well-written book with well-developed characters and a plot that weaves together a few twists and turns that are all tied up seamlessly by the end of the story. Sanctum is no exception.

Maggie, the MC president’s daughter, is a pot-smoking, tough-as-nails woman who left town five years ago – leaving behind the love of her life, Jase, because her dad apparently didn’t approve of the two of them and Jase wouldn’t leave town with her to start over together – and she ends up getting involved with some bad dudes in the town she moved to. She returns to her dad for help when her low-life ex starts beating her and wants to force her into prostitution. I found myself truly disliking Maggie – but this is because Valentine has created her character really well. Jase is a guy who has had his heart broken by Maggie, but he’s forced to watch over her as a protector by her dad because “Jase, you’re my best guy”. Jase gets past his anger at Maggie pretty quickly after she’s nearly killed, and they eventually kiss and make up…only for Maggie to be kidnapped. The twist at the end was unexpected and well-executed.

Even though I never quite understood why Maggie felt forced to leave town five years ago, this story offered action, well-developed characters, wrenching emotions, chemistry that sizzles, and a well-constructed plot. Now I’m looking forward to reading about Ghost and Will and learning their stories.

I really enjoyed this new biker romance quite a bit...the author has greatly improved her storytelling since her Desperado series and although I really enjoy reading all kinds of books with alpha male badboys, bikers are my favorite.
The story of Maggie, a woman raised in an MC and coming back home to her father for protection from her stalker criminal boyfriend and having to face Jase, (her EX who she ran away from), has been done before (in fact the name Jase has been used so many times it's all a blur)...but in this case, there was a really deep emotional story to go with the scenarios and the characters were well written and more complex.
Fathers and daughters who share a tragic past and who have strained relationships because of those issues, are always tough to read about, but I was very pleased with the progression of how they mended their fences and how the violent events surrounding Maggie's return home brought them back together. Jase is that kind of tough guy with a heart of gold and inside the muscular and sexy exterior is a teddy bear who just wants to be appreciated and loved.
There was plenty of sex and violence in this one but also some surprising developments and sweet emotional confrontations that made it all worth reading and I recommend it to all my biker/hard romance loving friends!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good second chance book and I'm a big fan of MC books so with this book, I got them both. Jase and Maggie are so perfect together.

Jase and Maggie fell in love at a young age, but with her father ruling her life and with Jase being a member of the MC he is president of, Maggie does the one thing she knows she might regret is leave it all behind.

Years later, she is in danger and does the only thing she knows to do. Go back to the club. Getting protection from her dad and running into Jase are the two things she never thought she would have to do. As Jase is faced with being Maggie's protector, you can feel both of their walls coming down and no matter what, that chemistry is still there between the two. They try and deny it, but it's no use. As she is endangered from her past, Jase saves the day and becomes the perfect hero. He's hot and sexy and I love seeing his softer side. This is one second chance book that I enjoyed and I'm ready for more of this MC.

Lost and Found

This is the second book in the series that I've read and it's wonderful! I love Sienna's writing style. Her characters are complex and three dimensional.
Jase and Maggie are in love. But Maggie's dad is the prez of the MC Jase belongs to, and he doesn't want Maggie to be a part of the MC life any more than she already is. For Jase, the MC is his life and the thought of giving it up is unimaginable. So Maggie takes the choice out of his hands and leaves.
When Maggie is forced to come back, looking for help and protection from the MC, Jase is given no warning. Her leaving just about killed him. Maggie can't tell him that it had a similar effect on her. Thrown together, they have no choice but to confront the past in order to deal with the present situation. But will there be a future for them?

HEA guaranteed, but it'll get messy first!

Good story.

Maggie is the daughter of the president of the local MC Club Black Dogs. She is seeing one of the members Jace and dad is trying to keep them apart. He send Jade out a lot so he doesn't have any time for Maggie. Maggie wants her and Jace to leave town but Jace keeps saying no, that he owes his life to the club and her father. Maggie ups and leaves town without telling anyone. Now it's five years later and she is coming home to seek help from her dad and the club. Things with dad go decent but not so with Jace. Will Maggie and Jace be able to forgive and get back together or will it end badly for them. Read this book and find out the answers.

Darn Good

In all my reading experience I don't think I've read a story where you just can't like the heroine.Well this was one.Maggie is one dumb broad,I mean you want out from under your dad's thumb so you leave and what do you do?You run right into doing dumb stuff for really no reason, not to mention you leave a good man behind. Now you show up needing help and realize you were dumb to leave in the first place. This is a hard hitting action packed MC story with a little bit of romance thrown in the mix.You get a story that's straight forward and it works because you get to see two venerable people come together. This was a good story that held you in its grip.

A ok read.

This story between Jase and Maggie wasn't a bad read. In my opinion, it was kind of blah. It wasn't what I expected of a MC romance. I was able to read from start to finish in three hours (with a couple of quick breaks.)
The book starts out with Jase and Maggie together, and took keep Jase from choosing between her and the MC she leaves. When she comes back, she is running from an abusive ex and a part of her past she wants to forget.
The violence was minimal and the passionate scenes where few. The spelling and grammar was good. If you like MC stories, I recommend trying this book.

4 Stars for Sanctum

This one was a quick read for me, which was what I needed because I currently have a busy tight schedule. Sanctum is a good second chance MC romance. It isn't the typical book where you'd gush, because Maggie was not a meek goody-two-shoes heroine. And Jase was not a hardcore badass biker. What was lacking in this book was for it to be a more descriptive. Nevertheless , the plot was simple but well-written. Even the title is smart. I'm going to look forward for other Sienna Valentine books in the future because she has potential.

Ever try running from your past but you can't seem to get away from things or even from getting in trouble.
Maggie has that problem. She ran from her family and boyfriend who are in the MC. She came back grudgingly because she was in deeper trouble than before it all started. Can Jase keep her safe from what's tailing her and not have his heart broken again. Being charged with keeping her safe, he has to guard her and his heart all over again. Will they each hide their hearts from each other or will they be able to make up when this is all over.

So a little girl who doesn't like Daddy's rules decides to run away, only to land her butt in major trouble and have to run back to Daddy 5 years later to be rescued. Overall, the book was lacking in depth, the characters were one-dimensional, and the love story is just trite.

This whole story revolves around Maggie, the daughter of a motorcycle club (MC). This MC is so whitewashed and tame, it makes me wonder just how they were able to save the "damsel in distress" - a damsel who is really just a brat who needs to grow up.

This was a good start to this MC series. It was a quick book that I enjoyed reading. The plot was interesting, lots of action, suspense, angst, betrayal, and surprise twists that you couldn't wait for what happened next. I had issues connecting with the main characters, their lack of real chemistry between them, the lack of depth with the characters, and wish that there was more background on the club itself. Overall it was a really good read, and I can't wait to start the next one.

I would recommend this book.
