so yeah, life is filled with signs. even for superstitious people who tend to lack rationalization, their daily life is filled with signs. this book, in a sense, provided the elementary fundamentals of what scientifically defines the sign.

it's interesting to see how coca cola could signify something as highly unrelated to it as "a life filled with sanguine emotions"

if you want to try thinking about it... read this for a start.

An accessible and engaging introduction to semiotics, Arthur Asa Berger's Signs in Contemporary Culture effectively bridges theory and popular media. It illustrates how meaning is constructed through signs and symbols in everyday life, from advertising to film. Berger’s style is conversational and filled with examples, making complex ideas approachable for newcomers. However, readers more familiar with semiotic theory may find the analysis a bit surface-level, and the focus occasionally leans more toward entertainment than depth. Nonetheless, it’s a useful primer for those beginning to explore the ways culture communicates.
