Strange how overlooked this era was, precisely between one door opening and another swinging (relatively) shut: that inchoate period when things are being articulated, but before they became as settled as skin on soup.
I was alive for the entire 90s era but was way too young to experience any of that. I am still viciously curious and in love with ~the 90s~ and when I stumbled upon this book, it took me back to a place I'd been, but never really BEEN. It was like a stoned a car ride with a pearl jam cassette blasting in your dad's 1990 Buick century with the windows down, smoking heaters, yelling, "wanna see a dead body?" to some old ladies crossing the street like you always wanted to do but never had the balls to do... but you're an adult now, you can do whatever you want...
A compilation of short stories, poems, and comics, Signs of Life got me back into reading this past year. The pieces in this book are hilarious, gross, fun, eye opening, real, wild, and wonderful.
