A murder twenty-five years forgotten, a female detective with the ability to communicate with the dead, and a killer without boundaries clash in the heart of winter.

It's Christmas, and there's been another murder. Rachel Harroway, a homicide detective gifted in the arts and communication with the dead, tracks a serial killer lurking in the shadows for the last twenty-five years. The closer Rachel gets to solving the mystery, the more the unforgiving Appalachian winter weather and supernatural energies push back, forcing Rachel to decide how far she'll go for a man society has forsaken.

Another Great Story from 1 of my fav authors

I may be a little biased, but J.S. Donovan does it again! This is a two part series. Both of the books can be read alone, but I recommend reading both to get the full and complete experience. I felt like the characters could simply walk off the page. The depth of the characters descriptions, was that good. The storyline flowed smoothly and kept my full attention. I will say that the story did take a few chapters to become fully vested in the characters and story. There were a few misplaced and misspelled words, but definitely not enough to make me stop reading. There is an ending, but it's kind of an open ending, so I'm hoping that there will be a book 3. These books are filled with drama, humor, suspense a bit of the supernatural and of course love. I really appreciate that the author created these wonderful books, without the need of 4 letter words or mature bedroom scenes. I would definitely recommend this series. You're welcome!

Excellent

I read these stories as single books. But it was a joy to read them again in this collection. I like the detectives and how they blindly trust each other. They make a great team. The orphans make for a good read.

Too gory for me

Poor Highlands, NC. who would want to visit there? For such a small town there are lots of murders, especially of children. And I don't want to read about abused children.

She see's Dead people.

Police Detective Rachel Harroway has a gift, or a curse,. She can communicate with dead people. It helps her solve crimes but it might just kill her.
