No heroes is story of Michael , a boy who is attending his father's funeral . Michael had a difficult childhood as his father was a police officer and mother a self centered women . However , at the time of his father's death he was not really close to him . Despite of this, his father had left him his car and house . And only after going to the house does Michael realize , the difficulties his father had faced after being released from the force . And that how the entire murder mystery came into play .
The author successful manages to maintain the suspense in the book as I found myself guessing a number of times as to what might follow next .
The character of the protagonist , Michael is well defined . However the secondary character didn't seem so we'll developed.
The book contains with a lot of grey portions and a number of decision made by the lead is questionable. I really the ending as it was different from what I had predicted.
Overall it was a nice book , and I recommend it to readers who enjoys a crime novel.

Review:

I honestly didn't know what to expect when reading this book. After reading the description I was eager to get stuck in as it sounded action packed. It's safe to say throughout reading I had mixed views and emotions, the book definatley kept me on my toes and whilst writing this review I am finding I have to really think hard about what to write.

After reading the first chapter I was questioning whether I would be able to connect with the book after all, yet at the same time I was left feeling intrigued and wanted to continue reading. It's safe to say despite my continuous mixed feelings, by chapter ten the book had fully drawn me in to its clutches.

Michael, the main character stirred up my feelings. He came across to me as emotional and vulnerable but with a hard front. I felt that he was a genuine good guy. I could tell that there would be more to this character as the storyline developed and I was eager to find out his background and who he really was. The character I had pictured in my head didn't seem to match his actions at first. At times I found it difficult to connect despite his struggles. I feel though that this may have been an intention of the author as the Michael himself was battling with his true self and his feelings throughout. At the end of the book though I felt completely different, this may be due to the fact that Michael stays true to himself throughout and in the end we see that he finally makes peace with who he is.

Despite being gripped, I found I was left feeling quite unsure at times as to what was going on and where the storyline was heading- I really couldn't call it. When I reached the middle of the book I found that the book jumped quickly from the build up to the action, there was no obvious climax which I found hard to register. Once the action kicked off, it was fast paced and at times I struggled to get my head around what was happening. I also found that in parts I found the story to be a little unbelievable but yet I was able to stay connected to the book.

No Heroes was loaded with action with unexpected twists and turns from start to finish. It was an unpredictable book that was graphic and shocking in places which made it impossible to put down, even with the mixed feelings in places.

So despite my doubts in places I found that No Heroes was a book full of vivid imagery, it contained some brilliant quotes and had me questioning right and wrong throughout. Praise for James Hall for producing a book that I really had to sink my teeth in to, that made me question my views and feelings throughout. It has really been a pleasure writing this

I received a copy this book from the author, Jamie Hall, in exchange for an honest review.

No Heroes starts with an introduction to the main character, Michael, as he attends his father's funeral. Michael had a difficult childhood, his father was a police officer and his mother was self-absorbed. At the time of his father's death Michael was estranged from him and we see the internal struggle of him dealing with his feelings of abandonment, disappointment and grief. Michael's father leaves him his home and vehicle; but, when Michael goes to the house for the first time he realizes the darkness his father faced as a police officer and the battles he fought following his dismissal from the force. As Michael begins to explore who his father was, he is hit with further devastating news which leaves him questioning his own life and what mark he will leave on the world. this coupled with his father's death catapults him on a path which causes him to question the difference between right and wrong and how thin that line really is.

As I started this book I immediately liked Michael, he is "real" and asks questions most of us have only "thought" which I can appreciate.

"So sad to hear that my old basketball coach, a guy whom I haven't thought of for decades and really had no valid impact on my existence in any way, has died. I'll be attending his funeral because I like free food, and a feeling of belonging. #death  #mourning   #isad."

I can appreciate that sort of sarcasm and dry humor, that is common among First Responders. The development of the main character was well done and gave the reader a lot of back ground into how he ended up where he is, making the choices he does. The part that I struggled with, for the character was that everything that is bad and could go wrong for him did. It made it seem a bit unrealistic and like the story was forced in parts.

The plot of this story was interesting and kept the reader guessing what was going to happen, the ending could have been predictable but there was a twist that I did not see coming and I love that in any story I read! The beginning tended to be laying a lot of the road work for where the story was going so that unfortunately made the story hard to remain engaged with, I can read a book a day on average, and this took me over a week to finish; however, once you hit the mid mark the action part of the story takes over and it moves very quickly.

For fans on crime stories this will be a hit or a miss, depending on how open minded you are to a world where the right and wrong line is very blurred. What I really liked about this is it made me questions my own beliefs and morals; although, I did not agree with a lot of the choices, I could understand where the character came from and how he got to the point he was at. This does not mean I found it realistic, but rather the author gave you enough background to at least understand the characters motivations.

The secondary characters in this novel I did not find as interesting, the two lead females in the book seemed to conveniently enter Michael's life at the exact right moment to provide the support he needed to move to the next stage of his life, again this felt a bit forced, like the author needed them there to encourage Michael onto a certain path and towards a certain destiny.

I took a week after reading this book just to contemplate my rating because there were portions of this story i really liked, but there were also area that I found lacking or just did not work for my taste. I would say the best part of this novel is the development of the main character Michael and the author's ability to have the reader question their own beliefs. The main struggle was certain parts of the plot and secondary characters feeling forced to achieved a certain goal. that being said I am giving this novel a 3 out of 5 star rating.

First, thank you to the author, Jamie Hall, for a free review copy of the book.

No Heroes is about a man named Michael and how his boring life took a quick turn toward chaos after his father's sudden death. These chaotic turns cause Michael to struggle within himself as not only a man, but as a legacy. What would you leave behind if you died tomorrow? Stumbling upon his father's research, an obsessive mission seems to create a new person inside Michael. Motivated to clean his city of evil and to avenge his father's death, Michael becomes "CK". In this book, you see through Michael's eyes which is scarier; battling a fatal disease or battling the city's evil.

This book, for me, began slow but was still entertaining. Written in first person, the author gives a pretty detailed introduction to the main character and his family; specifically his father. Many chapters discuss their father-son relationship: his father's background and training as a ex-soldier and cop, how he instilled those same principles into his son, and how his son felt about the training and education given to him. It was probably focused on a little too much and could've been explained a little quicker.

I found myself a little confused about the character's true feelings toward his father. In one paragraph, Michael doesn't care about him because he abandoned him to deal with his drunken mother alone and feels nothing toward his father's death; he doesn't even cry at the funeral. Then, once in his father's old home he considers him a hero for the work he did as a cop and the clues he left behind for someone to finish his mission. He talks of his father's police career as if he were discussing the biggest and best super hero the world had even seen. Perhaps, the author did that with intention though. We can remember as children seeing our parents in a perfect, almost idol-like light. As adults, we begin to see our parents as the true flesh and blood human beings they are, doing the best they can with what they are given.

Following his father's funeral, Michael is surprised with some very devastating news regarding his health that causes him to take a temporary downward spiral. He finds some hidden money in his father's house and decides to try to buy his happiness and ignore the disease facing him. This lasts only a chapter, but I was glad it was put in the story because it is a real reaction any one of us would have had. Let's blow money and forget about the stresses of life waiting for me back at home. I also found one quote from this part of the book that I liked and found very humored and poetic, "The goal was to get drunk on spending money to the point that I wouldn't stop, and then I would die knee deep in hookers and blow. The plan was ill-fated from the start. I like neither hookers, nor drugs, and when you grow up with little, all you can think of while you spend money is the zeros draining out of your account."

Shortly after this, Michael falls in love with his doctor's receptionist, Monica. While Monica is out on vacation, Michael makes his first, not premeditated action toward being this new vigilante role in society. This is where Michael meets Daisy and she is his first damsel in distress that he rescues. I enjoyed how the author shows the different relationships Michael has in the different phases of his life leading up to the ending.

Super hero comics and movies seem to always have the same trend. A hero compromising moral code or laws in order to eliminate evil. The author does a very thoughtful analysis of this concept and compares frequently the psychological justifications behind these fictional characters. Some would consider the analysis not realistic (many wouldn't justify their actions based on a comic book character); however, it does not seem to be so far fetched. Newer shows like "Dexter" and "The Santa Clarita Diet" reveal characters with dark behaviors that are considered "bad", yet how they use these behaviors some would consider "good".

The ending of the book was wrapped up well and left me feeling connected to the story and the characters.

I was not sure what to feel when I first started reading this book.

As the blurb says, Micheal is on search of his father's killer while constantly fighting his inner demons.

What I concluded at first about Micheal was that, he lived in his own virtual reality. He wanted things to be how he sees but that never happened. Being from a broken family in which his father died and his mother is a self centered character, he finds it difficult to open up. The only character he open up to in the first half of the book was Monica and when she also left him for some reasons, it got attached to Daisy.

As for speaking of his character, I liked him though not at first. He seemed genuine as the story goes on. His character is what we can reflect in ourselves at some point in out lives.

The story at the beginning was confusing. I got that he was attending his father's funeral but that's it. It was like any other self help book trying to make me believe in what they want me to believe. But as I got into reading, it turned out to be a mystery thriller one.

I would recommend this book if you're into mystery-thriller genra mixed with some psychological aspects.

When I look at us, my generation, I feel like we are always searching for something. Growing up on high doses of myth and fairy tales and horror and crime- we feel a lot at home in the fictional world than in real life. Many a times we get branded as escapists by our seniors and with reason they do so. The protagonist in the book is running too. He is searching as well, like many of this generation. His search is for his father's killer and that's where he is different from the others. But isn't that what life is? We all have our own curses to break, mountains to climb and treasures to search. In his case he has revenge to dole out for taking away his father. But this isn't the only thing he seeks, he intends to have his own legacy as well. He intends to leave behind something, with which he will be remembered by, something that will make him stand out in the crowd.
The language in the book is simple but it gets the point across with ease. The story is very well narrated.

I am an avid reader and loved the book. In some ways the book reminded me of the style of John Grisham but there were many twists and turns as well as surprises that I did not expect. Some might call Michael a vigilante but I see him as a man who was trying to fix what the judicial system either couldn't or wouldn't.
The author has one hell of an imagination but yet you know he has done his homework. Facts are facts and the book will keep you engaged and many things you just won't see coming.

The title and cover of the book is quite unique and totally apt for the story especially the title. I loved the title. The story is full of twists and turns. I liked author's writing style. The writing style brings images in your mind. The pace of the story is neither fast nor slow. It’s a medium paced story with an intriguing storyline. Language is lucid. The book falls under thriller and anyone who likes this genre will fall in love with this book. The character development is very good. The book becomes better and better with each chapter and you find yourself engrossed in the book.

No Heroes by Jamie Hall is a suspense thriller. Suspense because it’s packed with twists and turns and you’re not sure who’s showing their true colors and who’s not what they seem. Thriller because it’s non-stop action.

Michael, despite his flaws, is the character I rooted for. Despite his pain and aloofness, he is the hero. But because of his way of doing things, he is not just a hero but a villain as well.

When I first started reading No Heroes, I thought it was kinda comedic. It got darker as I read though and I realized after that Jamie Hall did this on purpose. The light and humor were constantly sucked out of his life.

As a reader, you are primarily in Michael's head, which is a very interesting place to be since he is quite fascinating. I started reading to learn more about him and to find out if he would survive all the odds against him. I kept reading to find out how he could deal with everything he had done. I finished it and my jaw was on the floor. Such twists.

There is nothing ordinary about this man or the journey he takes.
I give No Heroes a rating of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

No Heroes is a good book but not what I was expecting from this author after 7 Deadly Women. Jamie's first book was about sex and relationships. This one is dark and about crime. Just not what I expected although my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. Authors generally stick to their genre and in this case he just didn't. Like I said this is a good book. The characters are written well and so are the relationships but they're limited so I didn't enjoy the read as much because I was expecting something different.

This book should be a movie or a graphic novel. It's an origin story of sorts so it takes 12 or so chapters to get into the action but you have to develop characters somehow. I see some people online calling this an action thriller but really i feel like it's a relationship driven book..........parents, girlfriends, enemies it's all there. I loved how he started his mission that drives the second half of the story. He searches long and hard to figure out how he can make a difference then fate steps in and shows him the path. I want to marry Daisy! hahaha. Great read.

Michael’s father is dead. Martial was a cop and a super hero who was shot dead by his enemies. Michael already a lonely child, is now burdened by his mother and his new found disease called Cancer. He is diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer; stage four of four. His time is limited and being a lonely child growing up he has his issues. He has no house, no job, no real relationships. Now he stays in his father’s house and discovers bags and bags of money in the house. Being the sad and lonely person, he plans to spend the rest of his days as his mind desires.

Does he realise his life’s purpose before his end days? Does he find his father’s killer? Does he become the super hero to continue his father’s legacy? Read the book to know more.

This book is a thriller cum suspense fiction. The narration is pretty good. The duo father, son relationship is complicated yet the love of each other is said well. The emotion and feelings of Michael is heartbreaking.

Recommend to all fiction readers. This can be a life changing read.

Michael, the main character had some really refreshing thoughts, giving us an insight into what his character would come to be. Coupled with an existential crisis and a dark disease slowly harvesting on him, we see some interesting twists and turns in Michael’s character and his inner turmoil. Michael is no hero, he is only human and I absolutely love this pitch.

The author has a very unique writing voice that urges you to keep reading on and a style of imagery that brings to mind some vivid images of the scenes described in the book. The fighting and action scenes were engaging and set with a good pace that makes your heart race and grip the book tighter in anticipation.

The main thing that totally threw me off this book was the romance. In my opinion the romance was horribly written being cheesy, somewhat cliche and pretty much instant. I also couldn’t deal with how Monica was written, I just couldn’t keep the frown off my face every time her name appeared. On a whole, the plot was pretty predictable. I knew what was going to happen in the end and was hoping for a couple of plot twists but the only plot twist that seemed to be present was one that I had guessed since pretty much the beginning of the book.

I really loved this book in the beginning and it had some great potential but it somehow just deflated in the end(I blame the romance, mostly). All in all this was an average read for me.

Full disclosure that I am not a big reader and really only got this book because I went to school with the author. At first I bought it to be nice but then I started to read it and the way Michael thought about life hooked me in. I read the whole book over vacation in Cuba and I enjoyed every page. Way to go Jamie!

No heroes :) .
.
.
I had the privilege of getting the copy from the author himself. The story is direct and clear. Michael, a 26 year old guy had a wonderful father (Martial) who was hero in a uniform. A cop. When Martial dies, he leaves behind a note to Michael talking about his secret mission of hunting down criminals. And then Michael is diagnosed with cancer and decides to die being a legend. The story talks about his difficulties in dealing with the disease and bringing down criminals before he dies. The book is of 27 chapters and the initial ones gets dragged a bit but picks up pace later. It’s a decent read but I do feel that it could have had a few more turns and twists. Few parts made me wonder if that’d actually happen in real life. I’d rate it 3.2/5.

I know the author of this book quite well and asked any people he knows to make a review after they are done the book. This is my first review ever. I never heard of this site before. Jamie has a vivid imagination. I didn't know Jamie when he released his first book so I never read it-I'm not a big reader as I have no time. This time around Jamie held his release for No Heroes at one of my businesses. I've never seen so many people at a book release before. I got the book out courtesy never planning to actually read it. Then one night I couldn't sleep so I picked it up and a couple of nights later it was done. The artistic brain is riveting and even if Jamie was not a dear friend I would rate this book with 5 stars. It would make a great movie! There's just no denying that I had chills, was disturbed by, laughed at, and thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Congratulations Jamie.

I suspect most people would give the same review as me. This book is dark and detailed. The way the author deals with mortality and the line between right and wrong can make you want to put the book down at times. Definitely not something you want to read at night unless you want to lay up all night thinking about darkness. I loved the book because it's a different take on heroes which can be done the same to death. The comedy is definitely on par with Mr Hall's first book though you won't find too much of it at the end.

So different from Jamie Hall's first book but there's still the sex and relationships for those like me that enjoyed 7 Deadly Women. The first chapter sets the tone of realism that I can tell the author was going for. There's even a few spots where the main character talks about how realism isn't as interesting as fantasy but somehow Jamie is able to blend the 2 keeping the situations real and hard but interesting at the same time. His vivid descriptions of death, dying, and heartbreak are disturbing and kept me up one night. The masterbation in the shower and the last kill are very important. I believe that the 2 scenes are related to reveal the monster inside of Michael. Dark, funny in places, and hardcore......I thoroughly enjoyed this read and would love to see more of this from the author.

I found this book confusing, raw, at times completely unethical and unrealistic but all the while it was clear, vivid, made me question a lot and grounded in reality. How is that possible? Well the first time I read the book was right after the release event in my hometown of Vancouver. I put it down and it bothered me so I read it again. This is one of those that you have to read at least twice to fully grasp what happened. The build up to the action is long but it makes sense. A lot of factors had to go into Michael making the decisions that he did and once he did Michael lived for those experiences. Often times when characters have to make the leap from normal to doing something society does not expect there's not enough momentum. With this one there is. No Heroes will drive you crazy and that's a good thing. So many twists and turns. If you love action, thrillers, crime dramas and books that explore relationships of all kinds this is one of you.

Blurb :
Michael's life is one of little importance, which is a far cry from his dreams of being a hero throughout childhood. Several traumas in his life lead Michael down a path of vengeance in his fathers name. Guided by the desire to leave a legacy and create change, Michael battles disease and internal demons to catch his fathers killer and those that prey on society. As he delves deeper into a world of violence, Michael must balance his personal life, newfound identity, and the darkness that inevitably creeps into his life as he struggles to complete his mission.

My thoughts :
✽ The main protagonist of the story is Michael. So the story begins with the funeral of Michael's father - Martin Burton 'Martial'.
✽ Micheal is an atheist - - and I do mention this because the book contains a lot of Michael's options on religion and God.
✽ Michael's father had abandoned his family after his co-owner Kyle Davis got him out of the force which further led to Martial's depression.
✽ Saturdays were always special for Michael because he would spend the entire day with his father watching superman cartoons, building a fortress of solitude, wrestling, attending Jiu Jitsu and much more.
✽ Michael's mother was a drunkard and a self centered woman, who had left his son soon after she won a lottery of 8 million dollars.
✽ So Martial always had a huge crush on Doctor Scorpio's hot receptionist - Monica, who one day appears at Michael's door after Micheal creates a scene at the Doctor Scorpio's office.
✽ Michael's now girlfriend - Monica, persuades him to get his treatment and elongate his lifespan. She wishes for Michael to have achieved something great in his life for people to remember him.
✽ After the funeral, Micheal moves into the house his father left for him. He finds a lot of his father's belongings - a bunch of papers all over the walls, diaries and weapons. This makes him believe that his father wasn't depressed, instead he was on a mission.
✽ After going through all the stuff, Michael realizes that it is he, who has to carry forward his father's legacy and complete his mission.
✽ Michael had to keep his mission a secret from Monica which gradually becomes difficult.
✽ On his mission, he encounters & helps Daisy out from a life threatening situation. Daisy plays an important role in Michael's life later on.

Likes :
♥ Firstly, something I love the most about this book is its cover and the title! That was all the motivation I needed to pick this book up as soon as possible!
♥ I'm glad that the book focused more on Michael's mission rather than his health issues.
♥ The book has heart warming descriptions of Micheal and Martial's Saturday routines.
♥ The language of the writer is easy to understand.
♥ The book was a real thriller. I absolutely loved the progress the book made after Micheal becomes 'The CK'.
♥ Both Monica and Daisy play a wonderful role in Michael's life. I did enjoy the story-line shared by Michael with both the ladies.
♥ Also, I loved how Michael's actions received mixed opinions from the world. It made his actions more realistic. Supporters or haters, Michael made the world a better place for the people to live in.

Dislikes :
💔 The book seemed a little slow paced and draggy in the beginning.

Recommend?
I would recommend reading this book if you are someone who loves action and thriller.

There is a popular belief that tragedy strikes in threes.
1. Your father is dead.
2. You are diagnosed with a terminal disease.
3. You turn into something you never wanted to be.

What would you do when you find out you have months to live and then you stumble upon truckload of cash? When on the face of death, you find love? You want to fight this cancer and at the same time, you want to leave behind a legacy in case you don't make it. Michael chose the same. He decides to go after the criminals his father has researched about, which may have caused his death, and rid the city of its major terrors. A vigilante.

Being an idealist in the real world is tough. Being a realist is even tougher. The world is grey but there are certain areas which are pitch black. What do you do in that case? Do you walk away or do you stay and shine a flashlight? Michael is stuck at that question. But in a bid to make his father proud of him, he decides to spend the remaining of his days as a vigilante, killing the evil of the city. When it comes to the matter of right or wrong, many would feel he is wrong. But, isn't that what we need now? The humanity of the soul might be at risk but leaving the dirt means you are dooming humanity for good. Protocol, law, justice, all sounds white noise when the criminals roam free and the innocent is hiding.

But, like every action has a reaction, Michael started feeling the slips in his humanity too. The world is grey, so are humans. It's not for us to know who is pure evil - it's not for us to judge, but there comes a line which when crossed, the person ceases being a human as Michael said, "If you’re looking to create a victim, just know the people won’t stand for it anymore. The second you try, you lose your right to being a member of humanity."

What started as a slow read, got engaging and thought provoking. I could connect with Michael on the most idealistic stage, that the people are losing their humanity and their passion for a better world or as Martial describes,"A world without crime isn’t perfect. Crime is often passion, and passion is so vital to our existence. The perfect world is one that can teach criminals to re-focus that passion into great things."

There are quotes and passages that made me sit up. Incidences that made me stop and stare at the ceiling as I could very well imagine someone being driven to such a point that they become a silent soldier. We are not ashamed or feel conflicted when we kill a man eating feline or a snake or any poisonous animal because they threaten the lives of humans. Where then is the same consideration when it comes to humans who do much worse? An animal kills as a part of their instinct or for food. But a rapist or a pedophile ha no such necessities other than their own sadistic character.

I loved the plot, the concept and the message the author is trying to send across, only if people are smart enough to accept it. Though at times it does seem like a miracle journey, with unbelievable source of help, but mostly the underlying story that if the people stand up against crime, then criminals will not be born, is something that everyone should give a though to.

I'd recommend this book to lovers of thriller lovers.

The first thing that lured me towards this book was its tagline with an & instead of the expected or in the line Kill & Be Killed and then came the cunning cover of the book that made me believe this one is one good thriller that will have a competing touch to any Hollywood movie. But was my assumption correct? Let's find out!

This book started moderately yet was all the while engaging. Written in first person, the writer gives a quite itemized prologue to the principle character and his family; particularly his dad. Numerous parts examine the dad-child relationship: his dad's experience and preparing as an ex-officer and cop, how he imparted those same standards into his child, and how his child felt about the preparation and instruction given to him. It was presumably centered around excessively much and could've been clarified somewhat snappier.

The creator completes an exceptionally insightful examination of this idea and thinks about every now and again the mental defenses behind these anecdotal characters. I saw this when I began to feel like the character of Michael as a genuine individual who is existing some place in the ongoing. The advancement of the principle character was well done and gave the reader a ton of back ground into how he wound up where he is, settling on the decisions he does.

What we really observe is Michael's life is one of little significance, which is a long ways from his fantasies of being a legend all through youth. A few severe injuries throughout his life lead Michael down a way of retaliation in his dad's name. Guided by the craving to leave an inheritance and make change, Michael fights infection and inner devils to get his dad's killer and those that go after society. As he digs further into a universe of savagery, Michael must adjust his own life, freshly discovered character, and the murkiness that unavoidably crawls into his life as he battles to finish his central goal.

The plot of this story was intriguing and kept the reader think about what would happen, the completion could have been unsurprising yet there was a curve that I didn't see coming and I adore that in any story I read. Actualities are realities and the book will keep you connected with and numerous things you just won't see coming.

I adored the idea and the message the creator is endeavoring to send over, just if individuals are keen enough to acknowledge it. And if you are ready to adapt the same, get the book right now!

No Heroes
Kill & be killed
By Jamie Hall.

This is a thriller that beats any binge-watching session hands down. Very rarely, does one come across books that can make you feel the way this book does. The story is about Micheal, a very regular individual who has problems that anyone could relate to. The book opens with him attending his dad’s funeral. His relationship with his dad and his mental state at that moment is very well portrayed in the first chapter itself and it sets the foundation for the whole story.

If you are a comic book fan, this is the thriller to read. I won’t reveal anything about it because its something that you have to find out on your own to get the best experience.

It is unlike any of the other thrillers that are published nowadays because this book actually makes you want to relate yourself to the protagonist. The story takes on a topic that anyone of us might have thought about at least once in our lives. It’s best to read this book without any knowledge as to what the story is about or what to expect. The name and the cover image are a good move at downplaying the greatness of the book. Sure, at times the story is predictable but not in a way that makes you want to stop reading it. The predictable bits are the best because if the story didn’t move in that direction, this book wouldn’t be this good.

It has all the elements that you would expect out of a good thriller. Great foundation, a great not-so-cheezy budding romance, character building, mystery, crime, absolution. It hits all the right spots.

The book left me a bit more optimistic and hopeful than when I picked it up. It reminds you that there is always a silver lining. It’s just a matter of recognizing it when its in front of you and doing your best at whatever you are good at. It makes you want to make the best of the little time that you have.

It has enough uncertainty and surprises to keep you occupied. The best thriller I’ve read in the last 4 years. That’s how I’d put it. It’s a personal opinion. You might disagree with me. You are welcome to. But do read it.

Book Description: Michael's life is one of little importance, which is a far cry from his dreams of being a hero throughout childhood. Several traumas in his life lead Michael down a path of vengeance in his father's name. Guided by the desire to leave a legacy and create a change, Michael battles disease and internal demons to catch his father's killer and those that prey on society.

Review: No heroes by Jamie Hall is a suspense thriller-fic. Michael always wanted to be a hero. Michael has been through a lot since childhood, & is more of a loner kid. His father was a police officer and his mother, a self-centered woman.
After the death of his father, Michael gets traumatized. disappointed in his mother, so he is left all by his own self. Life never took easy on him.
Monica, the girl, he fell in love with, is the only hope & a cure to all that ails.

Michael struggles for money, got into fights with high-level drug dealers, starts having images about his death, spends days in rehab and bed. Monica stops being with him, & nothing is going right in Michael's life.
Michael always admired his dad, he wanted to be like him someday. He starts exploring things related to his dad. He gets attached to a girl, daisy, after Monica. Daisy has played a major role in his life; Michael finds peace with someone after long..

When I started reading this book, I had mixed emotions, views and I couldn't draw a conclusion about the theme, or say purpose of the book. There are in total 28 chapters.
I didn't really connect to the book at the start, as few chapters didn't intrigue me, but as I went on reading, I literally had goosebumps.

The book contains dark stories, humor, and a few chapters that will hit you hard. Some chapters might rub on your past situations. Writing style is really blunt and impressive. I really liked how I couldn't predict the theme of the book, as it made me feel restless to know about it.
