Its a short story between H/h with their children, family and friend. More like a complete epilogue for many years. Good story but bittersweet memories. Sign....

Leawyn and Xavier are quite the couple. From the initial book in this series, Xavier has been the perfect example of an alpha male in its rawest form!
How They Fell falls in line beautifully with what we remember about this intense couple. They’ve perfected the physical aspect of the marriage however the emotional aspect is a struggle. This novella explores the “war” if you will between Leawyn and Xavier.
This story is a novella so it’s a quick but very passionate read. If you’ve been following this series, you definitely want to read this story.
Four stars!

Passionate and raw.
I always enjoy going back to characters whose story meant something to me. This novella adds great depth and scope to the story told in How The Warrior Fell. The chief and his wife battle inner demons, and it's emotional, wild, and sensual too.
I liked their unbreakable connection, even the brutality of it. Though sometimes it relied too much on the flesh and too little on love. It also surprised me how far the characters' storyline went in the last chapters. Sorrow and joy mix as part of the circle of like, and it was a bittersweet ending. Very good.

This book is absolutely amazing! It's no secret that Leawyn and Xavier have been my favorite characters to date among these books. I couldn't put my kindle down. Beautifully written story.
Leawyn is the complete opposite from Xavier. She's the sun, everything good and pure, she's the light in Xavier dark world.
Xavier,he's a fierce warrior, the monster in the dark.
The war is over but not for them, within themselves they both battle what they fear inside.

Why did I have to read that?
It's 11pm at night and I feel like I could cry a million tears. Why?!
I loved it but hated it.
I don't like things that skip ahead so many years (decades) and just kind of glance over the ending and I felt that this is what happended here.
I hated the ending. But simply because I adore the characters.
On thing that really truly irked me a lot about this was it wasn't chronological with the series. I would like to think that there is more to the series maybe a book on Tristan. But now knowing what ism to come of Leawyn and Xavier I am hesitant to read any more of the series.
Honestly this just went from being one of my favourite series to one I'll probably never read again simply because they're gone.
I gave it 4 stars because of the ending. As much as I say is hated it. It is so what gave me the emotion. The part with the kids. The arranged marriage etc etc that doesn't matter to me. I can take it or leave it. But the ending ending it cut me. Made me bleed.

This series changed my life. I cannot even begin to go into the details of how much I fell in love with the main characters. The love story between these two characters is beautifully written . Their devotion, respect and soul-reaching love was one of beauty and even awe inspiring. Theirs is a long and beautiful historic journey together reaching limits and boundaries of both heartwarming depth and gut-wrenching tragedy.
SPOILER ALERT!
Even now, knowing that he would undoubtedly walk in to his wife having a nightmare, he wanted her. To slide into her body. To watch his palm make her skin blemish when he spanked her. To bruise her with his hands as he held her down and himself in as deep and as far as he body will allow him to. He wanted to own her.
Her thoughts.
Her body.
Her nightmares.
It was disturbing, how obsessed he was with Leawyn. He wanted to consume every part of her—mind, body, and soul.
It would scare him, if he had any humanity. But he didn’t. He didn’t even think Leawyn knew how dark he was. How empty.
Until her.
She was the fire that illuminated his surroundings. But if she continued to live this way, he knew that the fire will turn to embers, and eventually burn out.
And if that happened…the would dark devour him. He’d be lost.
He wouldn't let that happen.

A must read in the series.
For as short as this novela is this sure covered some territory. She brought in quite a few new characters that are sure to turn into there own books in this series. And or course I just can't wait to read them.

One of the hottest and intense book with so much steam......

How they fell
Oh my I cried thru the last half of this story! I knew what was going to happen but was still terribly upset when it did. For a being a new author, Ms Rene' has done a fantastic job in her first couple of books. She is definitely someone you want to read. This isn't my usual type of read but have it a try and was very pleasantly surprised. A must read!!!!!!

Wow!
I am still trying to make sense of the roller coaster this novel was and the ending was very much unexpected. There is so much to look forward to with the lives of the children. Honestly I fall in love each time I read this novel and now the extended as well.

Raw passion, intense interaction, confusing emotional conflicts . . .
Leawyn and Xavier took time as a couple to build a rapport with in the first book. She was all that was sweet, innocent, wronged. He was that alpha, alpha that was raw, intense, dominating, commanding. With this novella we find that when there's no outside war to battle they have still to battle within. Their passion can be undenied. The chemistry palpable. The communication maybe lacking and their emotional responses confusing. But there was something about their determination to find that connection and hold on to it to make it through.
Seeing this couple again gave you a truer picture of what reality is. After the honeymoon, what happens when fear and doubt creep in?

A Warm Wet New Zealand Evening. 😊
Wow, so enjoyed this despite the sad ending.
But then I guess those of us who are into this series knew they would never truly be parted, even in death. Thank you Nicole for a snippet that did remind me of The Lord of the Rings. 😊 When a beautiful Elf gives up her mortality for her Ranger King. A love all encompassing just as your wonderful characters have had. I will now look forward to reading more, as you cover the time before that leads up to these events.

Wowwww .. i still cant believe they got so far together without killing each other..😄😄😄 ... and how they all have their own family now .. seeing there oldest son become the chief now ... was so sad it had to end but know there family will be ok ..stronger because of them ... This story is absolutely fabulous! I was so excited that we were going to get to see more of Xavier and Leawyn! The love they have for each other is so strong they can work through anything. Love is an amazing thing. These characters are well developed and interesting. I wish it wasn't just a novella but that is only because Nicole does such an amazing job of pulling us (the reader) into her world. I can not wait to see where the next story will lead us.

Sad - I usually hate reading books that end with the death of the main characters. Even though life is like that, you are born, you live and you die, to read it is even sadder. He dies at the end and she soon follows. Through the harshness of their lives they came together, learnt to love each other and depart as soul mates.

I hadn’t ever read dark romance until Nicole and I couldn’t be more pleased. She brought to life a time period in ways I never could have imagined. I loved this novella, the two main characters have a special place in my heart. I would love to see a little more of their life together. *hint, hint*
