Sam's Law

Rate this book
When a judge gives Samantha Gibbons and Tyler Lawson the choice of five years in prison or marriage to each other, they choose marriage – although neither of them is happy about their situation. Sam is embarrassed for Law to learn how poor she is, and Law is sure the redhead will throw a fit when she learns that he lives in the apartment above the newspaper office he has come to Coyote to start publishing. Then he learns that Sam lives in a room in the livery stable. Sam runs away as soon as her friend Jericho distracts Law. He easily tracks her, catches her, then sets her fanny on fire for running away instead of talking about her fear. After they talk, they decide the judge must have looked inside them and decided they would suit. Sammy insists she wants to help Law publish the newspaper. He is grateful for the help. The big mystery is the Coyote insider, who sends an anonymous advice column to the paper each week…

I enjoyed this sweet western, domestic discipline romance. Sam and Law are thrown together under less than ideal circumstances. After being forced into a marriage neither of them want the fireworks start. Sam surprises Law when she is willing to work by his side to make his newspaper work, but she still rubs him wrong with her bad attitude, temper, and cursing. While this irritates Law, he has his own way of dealing with this misbehavior with a trip over his knee for a well deserved spanking. The story is well written with an enjoyable plot. With the story being set in the old west in a small town, the author includes several other characters. Some of these characters are wonderful friends but some are enemies that have a mean spirited personality. There is fun, laughs, secrets, mystery, friends, love, and spankings. I recommend this sweet easy story for a fun night's read! I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.

SENTENCED TO A LIFETIME TOGETHER

I enjoyed this story that has the typical quirkiness found in Ms. Joannie Kay’s writings. Feisty, hot-headed, independent women and dominant, take charge men. There is a great cast of characters, some mystery and suspense, and plenty of action.

When the traveling judge comes to Coyote to precede over the various cases, he is in a foul mood, has a terrible headache and decides the next case he is going to make a public example. Learning there is a newspaperman in his courtroom, it will be recorded. Enter the case of Sam Gibbons for trespassing and creating mischief, and has been locked in the jail awaiting her hearing. The judge is shocked to learn it is a female, and she needs a guardian. Trying to appoint, Ty Lawson, newspaperman as her guardian comes with outrage, she is a single female, and her reputation would be ruined. So the next best thing, make them marry.

The plot will have Ty Lawson who goes by Law, and Sammy Gibbons forced into a marriage or each placed in contempt of court and sentenced to five years in prison. Neither one want that, but marriage? What choice do they have? Two strangers, married, and now must make the best of a bad situation. Law leaves above his newspaper office, but space is small, with a kitchen, a parlor, and single bedroom to make up the home.

What seems to be a marriage of convenience will eventually become a blessing in disguise for both of them. Sam may have a temper, attitude, and foul mouth, but she is an accomplished seamstress, good cook, and asset to the newspaper business. She isn’t afraid to learn the trade and work beside Law. Law was raised in a household where men helped with dishes, and jobs weren’t considered men’s work or women’s work. He is impressed with what all Sammy is willing to do and glad to have a wife who can cook.

"I married a man who loves me enough to allow me the freedom to be a true helpmate."

The story has many misunderstandings, two couples who will have issues, with the dominant men taking their ladies over their knee for spankings. Secrets are in play, but eventually, they will come out too. While there are many spanking scenes, there are no detailed sex scenes.

Some of the items mentioned include a typewriter, printing press, and stove, all found in the late 1800s. Law will purchase Sam a treadle sewing machine too.

A fun spanking novel that reads more like a young adult novel. Editing needed to be tightened up because of repetitive information.

Samantha Gibbons is a young woman orphaned after caring for her sick father for years. She sold all her possessions for his medicine, and now lives in the livery stable where she does laundry to earn a living. Two cowboys refused to pay her, which ended up with Samantha being arrested by the sheriff, who believes all the lies told by his jealous girlfriend.

Tyler Lawson comes to the defense of the beautiful redhead in court, which causes the Judge to give them a choice -- marriage or prison for both of them. They marry. Sam plans to run away, but Ty catches and spanks her. He then takes her shopping for everything she needs. They live above the newspaper office, and Sam offers to help with the paper. Ty promises to hold off on making love till both are ready. They share the bed with a bedroll between them.

A great cast of characters from family, friends and town.

I didn't know whether to call Law and Sammie's situation a marriage of convenience or an arranged marriage.

I'm not really sure if the time in history when this occurred. It didn't seem like the old, old West but more of the newer old West, with the mention of the stove, typewriter, and teaching Sammie how to print newspapers. They seemed a little more enlightened.

A quick domestic discipline read with a hint of a few sex scenes, nothing graphic. If you are looking for hot and steamy, this is not the book for you.

A short, light-hearted, western romp. Sammy and Law are young strangers forced into marriage by an ornery judge. It's that or five years in prison. They are both lovely, hard working people who become attracted to each other very quickly. The story surrounds a newly launched newspaper and the people of the town of Coyote. You meet quite a few of the townspeople in the story including several couples. There is lots of love and spankings but no sex. It's a sweet spanking romance with very likable characters and quite a bit of action. I found it to be a very enjoyable, quick read.

Sam has to marry Tyler, who wants to create a local newspaper, or spend time in prison. They decide they will marry, but Sam is not very happy in the beginning. When she runs away, Tyler comes after her and disciplines her. Sam learns that Tyler is a decent man, even if she ends up over his knees several times.

Sam's Law is another sweet western historical romance from the author. There are several spankings but little to no intimacy. I liked Sam and Tyler and enjoyed reading the book from start until the end.

Sam’s Law is another great book by author Joannie Kay. Sammie is on her own and Lawson has just moved to Coyote to set up a newspaper. Due to a misunderstanding and a cranky judge, Sammy finds herself we to Lawson. Maybe the judge hasn’t made to bad of a mistake though because Sammy and Lawson quickly find out that they have a lot in common. Lawson isn’t afraid to take on Sammy’s temper and set her right. Sammy loves her new husband and loves helping him with the newspaper. I really enjoyed this story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. When the judge orders Sammy Gibbons to marry newspaperman Ty Lawson or face jail, what choice does she have? Sam's days of wearing pants and sleeping rough are over. Ty and Sheriff Zeke have no problem turning their ladies over and heating their bottoms up. Fun read. Western spanking romance. Hand, spoon, belt.

I enjoyed this sweet historic western. I really liked the romance side of it and the author threw in a few moments of suspense to spice up the story. The characters were both likeable and quickly became two people that I really wanted to see succeed. It is definitely a book worth reading.
