Oh so cute and cleverly constructed! A cozy paranormal mystery romance where Marci has been cursed to always have to conform to whatever her “boyfriend” wants her to be. If she catches the eye of a rocker? Tattoos and piercings appear. A country loving dude? Her hair turns blonde and she’s out there in a straw hat riding the fake bull. Any time Marci tries to tell someone about the curse, it comes out as nonsense. She tries hiding from men, but it does no good. Nicholas, a firefighter, comes into her coffee and cupcake shop. But will this be like all the other cursed boyfriends? I loved the original twists in this one! And the cats! And bonus points for the lobster! This was super-Maine-cute!
Such a joyful return to the slightly crazy but ever so sweet town of Everlasting. A town that is full of characters each begging to have their stories told because believe me these inhabitants are anything but ordinary. Take for example Marcy who has diligently been going about her business in the background of previous stories and now gets her chance to shine. She's a fun character but has sworn off love. Why ? Well if you believe in curses then you could say that she seems destined to always fall for completely the wrong guy . However they do say there's someone for everyone and there's a rather buff firefighter that just might be the right man for Marcy. Now if only Everlasting was a normal town but then again where would be the fun in that ! This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Curses and Cupcakes by Michelle M. Pillow is a quick and entertaining afternoon read. I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series I didn't feel lost while reading this book. I enjoyed meeting the quirky but likable citizens of Everlasting, Maine; and I adored Aunt Polly as she began to unravel Marcy's curse. I'm intrigued now about this series and will need to go back to read the previous books in the series.
All of you ladies out there remember being a young girl fascinated by fairy tales and princesses. Remember how the solution to every problem was true love's kiss. That kiss is so magical that it can break a curse. I was reminded of my childhood and those wonderful tales today as I read this book. Inside of its pages, I found a young woman cursed to date losers. Not only that but instead of them becoming her idea of prince charming, she became their perfect woman. Can you imagine not being able to choose what you like, what you clothes or hairstyle you wear?
This book was so much fun. I loved the characters. They were fun and quirky and I enjoyed learning about them. I loved learning about Marcy's curse and some of her dating experiences. I enjoyed reliving that magical moment all you women know about. That feeling you got when Romeo kissed Juliet or when Cinderella got her prince or when Aurora was awakened by that magical kiss. That moment when a good story makes you smile and feel all happy. This is a feel good story and a wonderful way to spend an evening (or early morning in my case).
Everlasting is an interesting place and Marcy has to have the most unique curse - when she falls "in love" she changes to be what he likes best and when they break up, all the changes disappear and no one ever notices.
What I enjoyed: * Marcy coming into her own and her relief when somebody finally understood about the curse * Nicolas was a great addition to the town and great for Marcy * Aunt Polly is fun as usual
4 Star review of Curses & Cupcakes (The Happily Everlasting Series #6) by Michelle M Pillow
Audio Review: I have found myself devouring cozy mysteries recently. Having listened to a couple of books by Michelle M Pillow and narrator B.J. Harrison I was looking forward to Curses & Cupcakes.
I found the story and narration entertaining and easy to listen too. The voices were engaging and certainly brought the story to life.
Marcy Lewis managed the Witch's Brew Coffee Shop and Bakery (such a great name for a coffee shop).
She knows she is cursed so trying to date is a nightmare. However the newest addition to Everlasting, firefighter, Nicholas Logan is intrigued by Marcy.
When danger rears it’s head, it looks as though Marcy is the one in danger. Nicholas and Marcy join forces to investigate. What follows is a story filled with romance, mystery, humour, secrets and danger, with enough clues to keep you guessing.
Man do I love the folks in Everlasting! Aunt Polly with her craziness, that I really don't think is so crazy, I mean she always manages to remedy the situation and knows when two people are perfect for each other. And let's not forget her pet Herman and Templeton the poor guy, I think he may have found his calling if he can learn to cook.. They are just too much fun
What they don't know about Marcy is that she has a curse since high school and she just can't shake it, or the bad boys that come into her life. At least she gets to change looks each time.....NOT GOOD! Problem is she can't tell anyone about it...Until Aunt Polly steps in that is and what a cluster! When that fireman hunk comes into the bakery and starts wolfing down those cupcakes that Marcy has started baking non stop, she tries not to look, tries is the operative word.
Firefighter Nicholas Logan just got to Everlasting and man did he ever come to the right place.....He sees ghosts and they are all around this town. But call the GhostBusters because he only has eyes for Marcy and her cupcakes of course. Will he just be another one in Marcy's menagerie of boyfriends, or is he the real thing?
Marcy has a very interesting curse. Every time she falls for someone, she becomes more of what they want, losing herself. Sure, we've all done that at some point in our early dating lives but Marcy REALLY does. So much so that she loses and gains tattoos, hair color, and styles, clothing styles!! It's not even her own doing either. She's completely at the mercy of the curse to tell her who she'll be. The worst part is no one else can remember any changes and if she tries to tell anyone about the curse, it mixes her words. (She ends up talking a lot about purses.) When she lays eyes on the hunky new firefighter, she's convinced that the curse has its hooks into her and is just waiting for the changes to start happening...but oddly enough, she doesn't see anything changing. She does her best to avoid him but in the crazy paranormal town of Everlasting, that's easier said than done.
Nicholas has just arrived in Everlasting and he has absolutely no clue that it's just not a normal town. However, he definitely ended up where he was supposed to because Nicholas is hiding his own paranormal ability—he sees dead people! He has spent his life not realizing that there are people out there like him and with abilities of their own. He can't help but feel like the townspeople are hiding something. To add to that, someone in town is starting fires, but who?
Man, I just love this series. Everlasting is such a fun place and every book, while they don't need to be read in order, build upon one another. We get to visit again with the eccentric Aunt Polly, the resident witch, and her lobster pet, Herman. Polly's magic doesn't exactly work out the way it's planned. It comes with some very usual side effects that add to the hilarity. The mystery here is who is starting all the fires and sending Marcy threatening pictures. Even more so, who set the curse on Marcy to begin with? This series is just so entertaining. I love the quirky characters and their paranormal weirdness, which is completely normal to them! Curses and Cupcakes delivers!
Marcy Lewis is cursed. Marcy transforms into the woman the man she is dating thinks he wants. Her physical appearance and personality change every time. Her latest boyfriend Donnie has just broken up with her. Marcy has now turned back to her normal self. No one will notice her change, it is part of her curse. If she tries to talk to anyone about the curse she speaks gibberish and no one will understand her. She goes to the Witch’s Brew Coffee Shop and Bakery where she works with Anna the owner. She decides she has to bake cupcakes today. She never bakes and wonders what is going on. Nicholas Logan walks into the bakery and orders cupcakes. He loves cupcakes. Marcy wonders is this her next boyfriend? Anna’s Aunt Polly is a witch and she wants to help Marcy get rid of her curse. This was a cute cozy paranormal mystery. This is the 6th book in the series set in the Everlasting world. The author has created an enchanted town with paranormals. You get to visit with previous characters from earlier stories. The mystery was fun to figure out. Nicholas and Marcy are charming together. I look forward to reading more books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The town of Everlasting, Maine is a hub for paranormal beings. Marcy Lewis has been cursed since high school. She’s moved around, and now finds herself working at a bakery in Everlasting. A new to the town Firefighter, Nicholas Logan, has stopped at the bakery to get coffee, and meets Marcy. Their story is told with both humor and quirkiness. Several of the secondary characters were introduced in prior books, but it isn’t necessary to have read them to enjoy this book. Those who like mysteries, romances, and the paranormal will enjoy Michelle’s book. An easy read, with no editing problems, well written with well-developed characters. I’d recommend this to everyone, including young adults. I was given an ARC by the author to read, and this is my honest opinion.
A paranormal cozy mystery romance from the Everlasting series. A town of paranormals. Most are still learning either about the paranormal factors in town or about themselves. Polly is the most fun and wacky. It’s enjoyable finding out more about her with ever book in the series. This story is about a cursed barista and a hunky fireman.
An entertaining read on the lighter side of paranormal.
Marcy Lewis was unfortunately cursed to have her heart broken over and over, ever since high school. She had a bunch of engagement rings to prove it -- even though her most recent ex of the previous evening had stolen them all when he left her for another woman! The curse was odd in that whatever the man she grew close to wanted in a woman, she became! Artist, rodeo rider, whatever! Not by choice – the curse just made it happen. Once the man broke off the engagement, she reverted back to her normal self within a few hours.
Marcy headed to her job at Witch’s Brew Coffee Shop and Bakery. The owner’s Aunt Polly had a small magic shop in the back storage room of the bakery. Her spells didn’t work out very well, so she wasn’t able to help Marcy get rid of the curse. As Aunt Polly left the bakery, a handsome man walked in. He felt strange, but then saw Marcy and could not take his eyes off her. When she saw him, she looked upset and tried to close the bakery – but he said he was training a bunch of firemen and begged her not to send him back there empty-handed. She got the coffees for him, but he had to run out on a call.
Aunt Polly came by to see Marcy. Despite others not noticing how Marcy’s appearance changed with each love interest, Aunt Polly saw. She figured out about the curse, which wouldn’t let Marcy actually talk about it and what it was doing to her. Aunt Polly told her this was strong, powerful magic. But it was a relief to Marcy to finally have someone who wants to help!
Nicholas had just finished with the fire he had responded to. He was thinking that it was odd, seeming more like an accelerant had been used. This was the fourth fire of the week. Would the Fire Department be able to find the arsonist? Would Nicholas ever admit that he can see ghosts? And how long would it take for Marcy to realize that this time the curse was different -- Nick liked her for who she really was and she could be herself for him. Who cursed her, and how was the curse meant to end?
I adore these cozy mysteries, and this was a particularly good one! The characters were superb, well described and very likable! There were tons of mysteries to be solved, so the reader is kept busy in this fast-paced story! Don’t let this one pass you by! We even have a love story thrown in for good measure! It doesn’t get much better than that!
The narrator for the audiobook is B.J. Harrison. He does a great job with the voices to make it easy for the listener to get an accurate idea of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood and is an enjoyable way to “read” and enjoy the book.
Heartbreak = Cupcakes Curses and Cupcakes by Michelle M. Pillow is a wonderful read. I love the town of Everlasting, it would be a great place to spend a vacation.
I like Marcy. She has to deal with some really whacked out stuff. I mean really tattoos that appear and disappear on their own. Crazy. However, Marcy takes all the weird boyfriends, likes and dislikes, wardrobe changes and such with stride. I know she has been doing it for a while. Yet, she seems to keep a positive attitude. Marcy has "heart". She really cares about her friends. This is what Marcy is about. Yes, her cupcakes are great too.
Nicholas is different than any guy that Marcy has ever liked. Nicholas likes Marcy for who she is, not what he dreams she could be. He is handsome, tall, smart, and a firefighter. But, he also wants to know the real Marcy and for the two of them to know each other. Nicholas is well grounded and has great follow through. Love strikes fast in Everlasting.
Firebugs and stalkers... Nicholas and Marcy are both trying to figure out what is going on around town. They have suspicions but really don’t know. Jackson, Anna and Aunt Polly step in to help them out. Aunt Polly starts working on the curse, with one of her crazy potions. Let me just say there is a funny side effect. This side effect works in a couple of good ways.
We also get an inside look at Aunt Polly’s house and her pet lobster is around, along with her army of gnomes. Aunt Polly has got the party planning down that is for sure. Don’t worry some of the other residents of Everlasting are in this story. Watch for the “Code Nine” emergencies. Oh, and new partnerships.
"Oh, no, they're all crazier than egg without a chicken." ~ Aunt Polly
I love happy endings. My rating for Curses and Cupcakes by Michelle M. Pillow is 5-stars. If you haven’t read the other books in the series don’t worry they are all standalone books. Yet, I highly recommend the Happily Everlasting series. You can check out our reviews of the first 5 books below.

This is a wonderfully quirky series by four separate authors, set in a town where nothing is quite what it seems; Everlasting, Maine. It is very cleverly done, with overlapping characters in stand-alone stories, and a few hints which don't turn into spoilers.
The annual Cranberry Festival is over, and the residents of Everlasting are winding down from the tourist invasion and readying themselves for winter. Marcy Lewis is dealing with her curse again, destined to change her appearance, her habits, her life, all to suit her newest boyfriend, until inevitably, he leaves. This time though, did he really need to trash her apartment? Maybe she'll find some solace in baking some new cupcakes for the bakery where she works, they're a real hit with the customers.
The fire brigade's newest employee, Nicholas Logan, seems to be fitting in well, although the sudden spate of arson in town is concerning. He can't help but feeling that everyone seems to be hiding something, then again he isn't exactly sharing his secrets either. How do you tell people that you see ghosts? When he walks into the Witch's Brew Coffee Shop and Bakery for the station's coffee and cupcake order, he's immediately attracted to Marcy. But Marcy is having none of it. She recognises the pull of the curse, and Nicholas is not only handsome, he seems genuinely pleasant, almost too good to be true. She's just not ready for her heart to be broken again.
If there's any chance that the curse can be broken, it might lie with her boss's Aunt Polly, a slightly eccentric witch. But finding out who set the curse, and why, is not an easy task, and maybe it won't hurt to accept some help from a gorgeous firefighter.
It won't matter much if you read these books out of order, but I'd recommend starting at the beginning, not just for clarity, but because they're fun to read.
Curses and Cupcakes: A Cozy Paranormal Mysterious (The Happily Everlasting Series Book 6) By Michelle Pillow
The Everlasting Series is an Enchanting, Imaginative series filled with Mystery, Magic, Humor and Romance. The series has several authors who contribute and it is a delight to see how the stories overlap the character, places and overall themes of Everlasting. Besides making me very hungry for cupcakes, I was thrilled to see this story focused on Marcy, the hardworking talented assistant to The Witch’s Bree Coffee Shop. Marcy has been living with a curse that no one else (accept Aunt Polly) seems to notice (which is also part of the frustrating spell). Marcy has been cursed to have a never ending series of romances where she somehow changes mentally and physically to fit each man’s personality (only no one seems to notice), each relationship doomed to fail. Marcy decides to stay away from all men and relationships and concentrate on her job.
Enter a very hot fireman names Nicholas (his talent is that he sees ghosts) who has just come to Everlasting to trai. The fire department in water rescues. Despite trying to fight her attraction to a Nicholas, Marcy has this sudden obsession with baking cupcakes. A string of fires set by an arsonist causes concern for the fire department while at the same time Marcy enlists the help of Aunt Polly to get to the bottom of her curse and she end it. Romance, laughter, mayhem and a crazy mystery will have you turning pages with a big smile on your face.
This series is great a group of stories stolen by various authors centred around the magical mysterious town of Everlasting, Maine. A large percentage of the population are supernaturals of one form of another. Witches own the coffee shop, the fishing tours are fun by a Werewolf, a Werelion owns a local restaurant and a supernatural hunter owns the antiques store and the police force is made up of twelve men who were hired for their good looks and who are known by the months of the year as a condition of their employment was posing in a police calendar, ie, officer March who is also a Centaur. Those are just a few of the many eccentric characters who make up Everlastings citizens. All the books run along a similar theme, there is a crime or mystery to be solved usually by magical means and over the course of the investigation the hero and heroine find true love. The books are all written by well established authors so the quality of the writing is first rate, the plots are clear and concise with a mild romantic element, there is also a lot of humour in the books and with such a large population there is room for this series to run and run. I bought the first book by Jan DeLeon as I love her writing and immediately bought the other five currently released and have read them one after the other with no break. That's how much I enjoyed them. Try the sample you may enjoy them too.
This is a great book; this is the sixth book in the Happily Everlasting Series written by Michelle Pillow. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read it you will defiantly want to go back and catch up with the other book in this series. Marcy Lewis is cursed (honestly and truly) which makes dating very interesting. With a string of loser boyfriends behind her, she's done looking for love in all the wrong places. That is until the new firefighter arrives in the sleepy seaside town of Everlasting. Nicholas Logan is unlike any other man she's ever had in her life. When someone starts sending her photographs that raise a red flag it soon becomes apparent that she's not just cursed, she's in serious danger. Nicholas doesn't know what to make of the charismatic young woman managing the local coffee shop. As a string of mysterious fires begin popping up around town, the two unite in search of clues as to who or what is responsible, discovering along the way that things are very rarely what they seem to be.This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Marcie is doomed to romantic failure. Ever since high school she has lurched from one bad relationship to another, always losing herself to whatever her paramours image of an "ideal woman" was. After her last break up she just wants to recover and get back to being...her for a while.
But on the way to work she passes a fire engince and caught a quick glimpse of a firefighter. She couldn't see much of him but it was enough to put her on red alert. No Hot firefighter, adrenaline junkies for her. She wants peace and quiet!!!
Nick is still getting used to this very quirky town. He was transferred to help teach up to date investigation techniques but they handle some weird calls! He can't believe his luck when he meets the lovely Marcie but from her reaction to him, he thinks he may have come on too strong. But as they get to know each other, they quickly realise that Marcie is in danger from a stalker and possibly the same person who cursed her long ago.
As usual Polly is in the thick of things, at least this time she is more help than hindrance! Her idea of a sleep over/curse removal was a hoot! It was very poignant when Marcie realises that she is staying herself this time...no dramatic makeovers, Nick likes her not some imagined fantasy.
This is another great book in the series. The stories are getting better and better as the everlasting develops and we get to know the existing characters better and new characters get introduced. The story features Marcy who we briefly meet in Fooled Around and Spelled In Love (The Happily Everlasting Series, #3). Anna, Jackson and Polly, from the same story, are prominently featured here as well. There are some references to the events from the previous books, so the story reads better if book order is observed. The main male character is Nicholas, new firefighter in town. They are great as a couple and their chemistry is off the charts. Obviously, there are obstacles, a curse, and a villain, who remains a secret until the end. It was a great story and I cannot wait for more. The book can be read as standalone but the suggested reading order is: Dead Man Talking (The Happily Everlasting Series, #1), Once Hunted, Twice Shy (The Happily Everlasting Series, #2), Fooled Around and Spelled In Love (The Happily Everlasting Series, #3), Witchful Thinking (The Happily Everlasting Series, #4), Total Eclipse of The Hunt (The Happily Everlasting Series, #5) and Curses and Cupcakes (The Happily Everlasting Series #6).
I enjoyed this book. This fun magical series is written by a number of authors, so each story is a standalone. This is the second book by this author in the series and I have now listened to both. The story is set in the same location and in the first story Anna the coffee shop owner finds love and of course solves a murder. This time it is the turn of her coffee shop manager Marcy, who is the focus of the story. There is no murder in this book, instead the mystery is who is setting the fires that are happening all around town and who put an unusual curse on Marcy. I think despite the curse surrounding love I actually enjoyed this book more than the first, as there wasn't to much focus on the love interest. It was more the breaking of the curse and with Aunt Polly around its bound to be interesting. She still remains my favourite character and I think it was the right choice to have her in the different series the author writes. Looking forward to the mayhem and mischief Aunt Polly causes in the next book.
Marcy has been cursed to date unsuitable men and where doing so she becomes what ever they want her to be. This always leads to heart break, so when her latest fiance dumps her, she is determined not to set the curse of again by staying as far away from men as she can get. The worse thing is even though she lives in a town full of super natural, she can't talk about the curse and ask for anybody's help. Then she mets the newest fireman and things heat up. Literally somebody is setting fires, everywhere Marcy has been. Then she receives photos of her self around town. Could the person who cursed her be stalking her too? Are things escalating? If so she might need a fireman and a witch's help to break the curse and get to the bottom of the fires. I liked the narrator. I did question why a man was reading, when the main character is female but he soon had me forgetting my questions and just enjoying the story. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Marcy is not a typical Everlasting resident. She is not really magical in any way except for the fact that she is cursed. She literally becomes what her current beau wants. This has led to several broken engagements and now her latest has broken into her home and stolen her collection of engagement rings. At least her two cats are safe and she still has her job as a barista at Witch's Brew Coffee Shop and Bakery. This curse has plagued her since high school and she secretly hoped that her move to this magical town would help her to find an end to the curse.
I am a big fan of this series and the quirky magical characters that live in this unique Maine town. Where else would a witch have a lobster named Herman for a familiar? In this story, everyone's favorite barista is dumped by her latest fiance who stole 15 engagement rings and some cash but not her heart. It is all part of a curse that she can not shake and can not tell anyone about so she is stuck with it and has been since high school. She is quickly falling for the new fireman in town but does not trust her feelings due to the same curse. A firebug is causing havoc in the town and her boss's Aunt Polly and her pet lobster are running a magick shop in the back of the bakery. Oh and did I mention the garden gnomes?
Ms. Pillow has written an engrossing cozy with some really laugh out loud moments, light romance, a great mystery, and Aunt Polly. I look forward to all of the Everlasting series and this book is one of my favorites!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"All she wanted was the opportunity to be her best self. She wanted her life to be more without the constant disruptions of what her boyfriend wanted her to be."
I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. The story was interesting from the start and I was completely fascinated by Marcy's curse. I've read about countless cursed characters in books- the majority of said curses relatively different- but I found this one completely unique. Michelle definitely has a gift for creating magical worlds, and she really thought the specifics of this curse through. There's such a deviousness to what it does, and I was dying to learn how it started, who cursed her, and why. I also loved the supporting characters. Aunt Polly was absolutely awesome, and I would kill to hang out with that witch!
I've read and/or listened to Michelle's books about mermen, alien shifters, and Scottish warlocks, but a mystery romance with literal magic was new for me and I loved it. I definitely want to go back and read more in this series.
This was also my first time listening to B.J. Harrison. I thought he did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life. There was an almost soothing quality to his voice and his narration was well-paced. I hope to listen to him again.
Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger. Marcy has suffered from a curse since her junior year of high school. The only steady relationship she has had has been with her two cats. Since her parents didn't believe her, Marcy moved to Everlasting, Maine which is a quaint little town full of paranormal beings. Marcy works at the local coffee shop and one morning she has the sudden urge to make cupcakes, a lot of cupcakes. Nicholas comes to Everlasting as an instructor and part-time member of the fire department. He feels that there are things about the inhabitants of the town that he doesn't know just as there is something about him that they don't know. The first time that Marcy and Nicholas meet both are struck speechless and Marcy just knows it is her curse at work. While she is trying to sort things out the town starts being subjected to random fires and Marcy is led to believe that they may be connected to her. What will it take to clear the curse? Who put the curse on her to begin with? How are the fires related? Enjoy reading the book to learn the answers. I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good book. The reason for the 4-star rating is because both the MC and the love interest are humans. I always feel bad for humans in supernatural books and don't like it. They're helpless against things that can kill them (literally) with just a look. They shouldn't be in a supernatural book.
The curse was interesting and inventive. I didn't see the "who-dunit" coming. I started to suspect towards the end but the author did a really good job coming up with a red herring.
The main characters were likable and interesting. I had forgotten that Marcy was featured (somewhat) in Anna's story. It was nice seeing her story told. Being human, their sudden love was a bit weird. I would have loved if one (or both) were supernatural. It took away from the story a little for me.
I accidentally read this book before #5 so I felt a little confused in some places. The books are supposed to be stand-alone but they aren't. The stories make more sense if you read them in order.
I didn't notice any errors. They may be there but the story was interesting enough that they didn't jump out at me. Nice change of pace from the typical error fest in these types of books (misspelled words, inconsistencies, missing words, wrong words used, etc).
Marcie just broke another engagement. By tomorrow she'd be back to the original her. Today she had tats and a piercing. What would her darn curse bring next? She didn't want another boyfriend who changed her. That was the life in Everlasting. Nothing was normal. She'd come here to get rid of her curse. So far no luck. Then a man crossed her path. Hot, firefighter, and a nice normal guy. Well, there was this one thing... Nickolas liked her right away. She reacted a little differently, but he'd take a chance. Then the fires started. The threats. The curse cure. Instead of dating her, protecting Marcie became his job. The story has the funny kookie characters we've come to love from the town with all the supernatural people and things. The mystery is hard to solve but with them working together they'll figure it out--won't they? I can't wait for the next book in the series. All the authors have captured the essence of the town and the people. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Marcy is cursed to love the wrong men. Time and time again there is a spark and her life literally changes to whomever she shares an attraction with. Unfortunately, this is not true love and it will never stay. Her last fiance Donnie ran off with all of her engagement rings and destroyed her apartment. She is relieved and wants to avoid any romantic entanglements. However, in walks the new firefighter Nicholas. There is an instant attraction that she tries to fight and he wants to pursue.
Will her curse take another victim? Why are there so many fires in Everlasting?
Michelle does an amazing job with expanding on the characters in this town we are quickly coming to love. Each person has their own personality and I love seeing them come together. Waiting to see if they find out who cursed Marcy and how that will affect her budding relationship kept me turning the page. I fell in love with Sprinkles and Nibbles and I highly recommend reading this story so you can do the same!
This book takes us from where “Fooled Around and Spelled in Love” ends. It also takes place in the town of Everlasting, Maine and many of the characters from the first book appear in this story also. Marcy Lewis works for Anna Crawford at the Witches Brew, the local coffee shop. Marcy’s job and her cats are two of the solid things in her life. She’s single and cursed - yes, seriously - and is doomed to ending up in one broken relationship after another and for a short time becoming what the latest guy wants in a girlfriend. One particularly nasty element of the curse keeps her from telling anyone about it. In this story we get a good-looking fire fighter with secrets of his own, a mystery growing more dangerous by the day, and a big dose of wonderful, wacky Aunt Polly! If you like cozy paranormal mysteries with likeable characters and a good story, you’ll enjoy this book! You don’t have to read the first book in the series (Fooled Around and Spelled in Love) to enjoy this one, but it’s a good story too and you’ll get the background on the characters in this book.
Everlasting, Maine, is a town full of a wide variety of supernatural, and a few sort of normal, people. Marcy Lewis works at the Witch’s Brew Coffee Shop. She loves to bake. Marcy doesn’t have a supernatural gift. What she has is a curse, one that makes the romantic part of her life a frustrating mess. Due to her curse, she becomes whatever the current boyfriend desires, literally. The problem is that none of her relationships last, and they don’t end pleasantly. As soon as Nicholas Logan, a new firefighter who sees ghosts, comes to town, she is drawn to him. Her curse at work? Who has cursed Marcy, why, and how does she break it? The other mystery centers around who’s responsible for a series of fires set around the area. A delightful story with a cast of charming characters. Polly is here, with her lobster. Anna and Jackson pitch in to help solve the mystery. Entertaining narration by B. J. Harrison. I received a copy of this book via BookSprout and am voluntarily reviewing it.
