Charisse Carrington has loved flying since she first went up in an airplane at a county fair when she was eight years old. Her fascination led to a pilot's license at eighteen, and a job as a helicopter pilot with the local police department drug enforcement office. Her special metaphysical abilities place her in an awkward position when details of a crime are revealed to her in a dream vision that she must share with Mark.
To Mark Seymour, there's nothing better than putting drug pushers out of business. He's the top undercover drug cop in town. He is handsome, with or without his disguises, has a penchant for beautiful women, and dedicates himself to making his community a better place.
Mark and Charisse join forces to solve a double homicide, a kidnapping, and other issues that may tear apart their relationship.
What I love about Ms. Augustine's work is that you never know where she's going to take you. Where the Diva to the Guides is romance-geared with a paranormal aspect, If Only is suspense-driven, heavier on the paranormal, and laced with a hint of romance. When psychic Charisse Carrington wakes suddenly with the vision of a kidnapping in her mind, she immediately turns to her boyfriend, Mark, a police officer currently embroiled in a case regarding missing drug dealers. It isn't long before the two realize their cases are linked, and so are their lives - in ways they've yet to fully explore. But when she and Mark have a disagreement, Charisse will put herself in danger to rescue three children from an individual who'll stop at nothing to gain the money he believes is rightfully his. My only concern is that this should have been run a final time past a line editor to find the errors that missed the author's eye. Breathless pacing and a great storyline are only slightly affected by this oversight. 4.5 stars.
This is a prequel to book 2 , Mark and Charisse are together, she is having premonitions about kidnapped children and Mark is on a case dealing with murders. But when she goes looking for the children, they are found safe but there is somebody around who can feel Charisse's gift, she is shot at and missed. This book has so many emotions from Mark and Charisse but when thinks she knows more then she should, he refuse's to listen to her. There are so many things happening in the book that you need to take you time reading it. You don't want to miss a thing and helps you understand how it all goes on.
While it was nice to get backstory on series regulars there were a lot of contradictions to the previous two books such as Chase and Karan knowing each other in this book that's two years before book 1 yet in book 1 they were strangers. Also, Mark went from being a nice guy to a total jerk over the course of the book. Then there's how stupid the police force is. They're told straight up who the kidnapper is yet pretend they had no idea. Overall, it was a meh.
This is a great start to this captivating story. It's a very active read that will have you flying through the pages to find out all the w (who, what, where, why, when) questions as well as the how.
This occurs a couple of years prior to Ethereal Authority. Mark is a policeman who is casually seeing Charisse, the police chopper pilot. Charisse has the ability to see visions and sees information about a current case. Mark's unsure how to handle what her ability could mean.
this was another great book in this series! she has dreams of something that is happening right now. only these could get her in hot water with her lover. read to find out what happens.
An introduction into characters that are seen throughout the story. It was interesting and I did enjoy the insight into the past of what happened with Mark.
