I'm the lost queen of the Shadow Court, and I'm the difference between my people living and dying. The problem is, I've spent the last twenty-one years thinking I was human. Now I'm surrounded by fae who say they want to help me but I don't know who to trust.
With powers I don't understand I'm unsure if I can rule. I'll have to rely on the two men who've been by my side since before this began. I have to claim the crown or renounce my title. Either way, the fate of the Shadow Court hangs in the balance.
Long live the queen.

I received an ARC via author.

This was a great start to a new RH serial. My only issue is that I feel like we were just thrown into the story. I also would have loved to see more interaction between the characters. I hope we get a lot more questions answered in book two. I can't wait to see what happens with Maeve, Finn, and Jenson.

This is a great start to a new series Maeve’s new room mates are gorgeous but strange, they keep themselves to themselves, poor Maeve is confused by the pair and her feeling bugs towards them

I am enjoying the storyline, it is exciting and well paced, the relationships between the characters are growing nicely but yet I still have questions awaiting to be answered which is keeping my interest piqued, I am very looking forward to the next instalment

Hidden among humans

Maeve enters the world during a battle to take over the Shadow Court. Her mother's dying words send 2 guards with her to a fae witch to hide her until she turns 21 and comes into her full powers. The witch binds the 2 guards to her for protection and as she turns 20 they come to the human world to protect her as her powers awaken. Forced to hide their identities, Maeve feels understandably betrayed by them. Upon her arrival back into fairy the rather chilly welcome by her 2 aunts leaves her less than thrilled with her circumstances. And all that is before she finds out that she is already betrothed, when her heart already belongs to her 2 guards. Welcome to madness and mayhem.

There was a lot left out about the rebel attack that killed her parents. We don't know why they attacked, their cause. Especially since it's explained that Maeve is supposed to be their hope. Why were these 2 guards aging halted? Why not just select fated mates among the court members? Why did her aunt's not see to her upbringing or watch over her from fairy? Why is this witch so powerful that her mother had her hide her instead of raise her and hide her in fairy? See? I have so many questions I need answered lol. Hopefully book 2 explains things better. I will say that although Maeve is young at least she isn't bratty. Understandably upset at the deception that has ruled her life but not throwing fits about it. She doesn't ask about her human parents, though, and that bothers me. She was, from all accounts, very attached to them and had no clue they weren't her birth parents. But upon discovering her heritage she never once asks about them.

This book was amazing!
This story progresses very organically. Nothing about the storyline is rushed and the relationships between the character seem to progress at a real life pace. I loved how the story moves at a realistic pace and isn't all about instalove.
Onto the men....Jensen took a bit for me to like. He wasn't an easy character to love...at first. By then end of this book, I strongly liked Jensen.
Now, Finn is a different story. I liked him from the start and his character is my favorite and is hope we get a lot more Finn in book two.
The fae Queen, the best part for me was that she doesn't know who she is or what she is capable of.

If you are looking for a new series to read and love a good Fae story, this is the book for you.

I can't wait for book 2.

I normally don’t go for serials; I read them too fast and then the wait for the next installation feels so long. This one was a nice quick read. I was able to get into the characters, the progression felt natural, and the story left me wanting more... like yesterday! I’m waiting for the reverse harem aspect to come to fruition but the foundation is being laid nicely. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book!

Let me start by saying I love books centred around the fae and this serial is no different! Maeve is our MC and oblivious to her heritage until her 21st birthday. She's the destined queen of the Shadow Court and with that comes a hell of a lot of responsibility, saving all of the fae realm for one! And little did she know her secret lifelong protectors would come to mean so much to her. But are their burgeoning feelings doomed already? A great start to an intriguing world.

I think this is gonna be an interesting serial. Maeve has just found out she's fae and has been living with her two guards for a year. Now everything has changed. She's back in the fairy kingdom and her aunts want something she doesn't want to give.
Jensen and Finn are torn with what they want and what they feel is right. Good start and I'm looking forward to reading more.

While it's alright, it's neither good nor great! It seems too much like Harlow Thomas and Anastasia are riding the waves made by:
Chosen: Their Vampire Princess
Crowned: Their Vampire Princess (A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance): Book 2
Turned: Their Vampire Princess (A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance): Book 3 and Mated: Their Vampire Princess (A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance): Book 4

I know this is a spin-off, but I had hoped it would at least be a little bit different. However, except for the main species being Fae here, I don't see any difference at all.

This was a really fast read due to its length. I felt like in the later part of the book, the relationship between Maeve, Finn and Jensen was holey since the reader didn’t get to see their relationship growing. It moves from one part of the year to the next and I as a reader would rather be shown the relationship building and changing then be told that it happened some place. It gave the relationship a rushed feel because so much of it happened off page (kind of like off screen in a movie, but well off page since we are told and don’t read it ourselves). I would have liked to see a build up between the characters more and understand how they get to the end. I have been left with some questions that I don’t feel were addressed. Hopefully in book 2 I will get answers and the book might explain more. TO read the complete review check out www.underthebookmark.com

I received an ARC copy.
This was a fast paced and enjoyable book. It is the first in a serial, meaning it is fairly short. It was well written, but my one complaint would have to be the time jumping. It started out with the main character meeting her fae guards (not knowing what they are at that time) and it seemed that every chapter or so it skipped ahead a few months or weeks. By about half way there was already a year gone by. It just kind of felt like I didn't really get to know the characters that much or see their relationships with each other blossom and grow. Over all though it was a good book, I just hope to get to know the characters a little better in the next book.

While I ultimately enjoyed this book, a brief way into it, I checked to see if it was book 2, or if I had missed a prequel. The story starts in such a way, that you feel you are missing information you need to fully understand what's going on. The relationship development between Maeve, Finn, and Jensen was somewhat rushed, and you get a bit of a feeling that you missed most of it. I didn't have any issues finishing the book...the writer is obviously talented and the story is interesting. I just wish we could have had a more in depth intro to the main trio.

OMG!!! What a great start for this series.
The storyline is good it has a good pace it's not rush or too slow, and keeps your interest really well. You get to know some of the characters and some of the fae world.
But but I can't wait to the other book I need more!!!

I receive an ARC in exchange of my honest review

This book is short and went by too fast! I'm not going to lie - I really wasn't in to it at first. Way too much insta-love with no real story, and then BAM! You get a plot and the book ends.

You don't really know much about any of the main character, so lots of questions to be answered. Must read #2!

I love stories where you find out you are a faerie princess for real. Maeve was great and so was Finn but I wanted to punch Jensen quite a few times. I can't wait to read the next installment and meet her betrothed.

Absolutely loved it, was pulled into the story right from the start. A great start to a new series. Already have characters that I love and others I want to growl at as I feel they will cause problems for Maeve. Can’t wait for the next book so I can delve in.

Disappointing

This could have been great but it fell horribly flat. The storyline was incredibly rushed and the characters never developed. I felt like I was reading about cardboard cutouts, not real characters. I probably won't read the next one.

For it having been written by 2 authors, it was super short and just skims through the story very quickly. Not for me.

Review number 2:
Apparently I just do not like this book... I am trying to clean my kindle and for some reason this was not marked as read so read it again and it was still not a good read. The story is all over the place and hard to follow. Just not a fan

I really was looking for a good short read. This wasn't it. I really just didn't like it. The story was all over the place. It made it really hard to follow at times.

Book 1 of a new series I am now dying to read! This was my first foray into a reverse harem - and what I loved about the book was the character build up. We get to learn the back story to the trio - and ultimately was fighting for a HEA for the 3 of them -- as a trio. I can't wait for the next chapter between Maeve, Finn and Jenson!

This first serial installment of the Shadow Court series sets up its characters and breathes the first breath of life into the individuals that we will follow through their story. The perspective change would have to be one of my favourite elements of this serial; I love seeing how each of the characters grows and the personal connection that is gained through this method of writing is unparalleled.
My only criticism is the time jumps do leave a little bit of character development and connection up to the reader to assume, I would love to see some more day-to-day life and interaction between the characters!

Overall a brilliant start to the serial!

Shadow Queen is the first book I have read by these authors and I really liked it! It was really quick and left me wanting more but it didn't feel rushed!! I am looking forward to reading more about Maeve, Finn and Jensen!

boring! a whole load of lust that no one acts upon, no back story as to how Maeve, the fae shadow queen, ended up in the mortal realm. All in all this came across as rushed and disjointed, which is a shame as it had potential to be a decent read.

(3.5-4 stars) I enjoyed reading part one of the new RH serial about a girl who is secretly a faerie queen and has no idea. Her 2 roommates were sent to Earth and were sworn to protect her but its hard for them not to form attachments to herh after getting to know her/living together. I liked how different the guys were and how Maeve, our MC, interacted with each of them. Gotta say I was crushing on Jensen =)

I wish we could have gotten to see more how she learned to use her powers, but I understand its a serial so some things have to be rushed. Interested to see what happens in part 2, when the prince shoes his face!

This story follows Maeve, the lost princess of the Shadow Court. She grows up as a human, having no idea that she is truly Fae. She finds out that her two roommates are really Fae warriors, sent to protect her.
I enjoyed the different characters. Finn was sweet and lovable. Mae was definitely an innocent, but strong in the face of a new world. And Jensen was the silent protector, used to sacrifice for the greater good.
I felt like the relationships occurred organically and realistically. It was fun watching them unfold over the course of time.
I cannot wait to find out what happens next.
