They Came To Earth Millions Of Years Ago To Spread The Poison Of Hatred,
War And Catastrophe...

They Are With Us Still...

Human history is a seemingly endless succession of bloody conflicts and devastating turmoil. Yet, inexplicably, in the light of astonishing intellectual and technological advancement, Man's progress has been halted in one crucial area; he still indulges the primitive beast within and makes war upon his neighbors.

As a result of seven years of intense research, William Bramley has uncovered the sinister thread that links humanity's darkest events -- from the wars of the ancient pharaohs to the assassination of JFK. In this remarkable, shocking and absolutely compelling work, Bramley presents disturbing evidence of an alien presence on Earth -- extraterrestrial visitors who have conspired to dominate Humankind through violence and chaos since the beginning of time...a conspiracy which continues to this very day.

William Bramley's tome, Gods of Eden, is an excellent examination of our world, its hidden history, and the causes of today's tragic circumstance.

Originally released in 1989, Gods of Eden is a critical look back at our history. It starts in in ancient times and gradually moves forward, giving us information and analysis that we never would have expected. Bramley examines ancient texts, reviewing the UFO phenomenon as it presented itself in pre-history. He interprets writings in a much more literal fashion then most historians and fails to excuse their words as metaphor, nonsense or hysterical babble. For example, he quotes the bible in several parts, and demonstrates that the appearance of 'God' in several passages is marked by thundering, smoke, or strange aerial phenomenon:

...there were thunders and lightenings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the sound of the trumphet was exceedingly loud; and all the people that were in the camp trembled.

And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.

And Mount Sinai was altogether covered with smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke from the fire billowed upwards like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. - Genesis 19:16-19

If an ancient Hebrew were to observe the rumbling, smoke and flame of a modern rocketship, the description would not have been much different than this Biblical narrative of Jehovah. A later visit by Jehovah contained the same phenomena:

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightenings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they moved away and stood far off. Genesis 20:18

Lest it be assumed that these descriptions might be of a volcano, further sightings reveal that Jehovah was a moving object:

And the Lord travelled before them [the Hebrew tribes] by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way; by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, or the pillar of fire by night, from in front of the people. Exodus 13:21-22

Thus Bramley argues it was a custodial race (extra-terrestrials, higher life forms, or perhaps humans with advanced technology left over from prior great civilizations) that formed the basis of the ancient Hebrew religion. He gives bits from the Sumerians as well as ancient Mayans and Aztecs which demonstrate similar phenomenon took place and again, the instigators labeled themselves gods.

We're shown how they perverted Christs teachings merely a few centuries after his death, and how they were perverted to give us such dark tidings as the Crusades and the Inquisition. Islam was also manufactured by these same Custodians, and thus the three major religions of our world likely not come from God, but from a ruling class that maintains its power by keep us ignorant, servile and ensnared in constant war.

He also gives us vivid descriptions how these custodial rulers fostered and controlled different secret societies, and in a very Machiavellian fashion, pitted them against one another in various wars and conflicts in order to keep humanity embroiled in violence.

We're also shown how eschatology, or the concept of an apocalypse was given to us by the same custodial sources. The modern financial system, the concept of paper money, also came out of the very same houses that were profiting from war. Without paper money, debt and the modern banking system it was very difficult to keep a war running, and thus the custodians manufactured an artificial system of economics that allowed unlimited spending as long as it was violence and destruction being sown, not peace nor prosperity.

Moving forward through time he demonstrates again, and again their connection to revolution and any new philosophy that gains a foothold in our global culture: Protestantism, Calvinism, Marxism and Fascism. Even the American and French revolutions, as well as the Bolshevik revolution in Russia were are produced specifically to create sides that would be pitted against each other in violent conflict!

We're also given an examination of what true human spirituality can look like in its unfettered form, and how humans (when not manipulated or controlled) inherently seek amicable and peaceful relations with their fellow man.

Overall the book is incredible, it contains facts and research I haven't seen anywhere else except for a few other incredible books. Namely, Secret History of the World (Jadczyk-Knight), The High Strangeness (Jadczyk-Knight), and UFOs & The National Security State (Dolan).

Were given a clear look at our history, with facts and information you don't get in high school or college, and a hypothesis that is mind-blowing as well as critical if we are to understand the current plight of humanity. If you're looking for answers to how and why our society is the way it is you definitely want to check out this book.

Even I myself am not entirely sure what this book is doing on my to-read shelf. I think it comes from watching too much of "Ancient Aliens" on the History Channel.

William Bramley makes the case that governments and religions, throughout history, have had their strings pulled by "the brotherhood" in order to keep us at war, in poverty, or otherwise distracted to retard our spiritual growth.

I found the historical evidence to be informative and accurate. He covers the crusades and Knights Templar of 1119, Freemasonry of 1717 to the present, Adam Weishaupt's Bavarian Illuminati of 1776, the problems associated with fiat currency such as hyperinflation, America's central bank of 1791, CIA and US Army open-air germ warfare experiments directed against American citizens from 1949-1969, the Russian use of low frequency radar waves targeting the United States to change human behaviour by targeting neurological and physiological functioning of the 1960s, and international bankers repeatedly funding both sides of a war. I am familiar with and fascinated by each of those subjects and greatly enjoyed reading more about them.

The book maintains the theme that Adam and Eve were prisoners in the Garden of Eden and that their unjust creators wanted to keep them ignorant of their true potential hence the rules: don't eat from the tree of knowledge and don't eat from the tree of life. He claims that ever since our creation, our creators have worked behind the scenes to keep us conflicted and in turmoil. It was difficult to get through the "alien overlords" part but every other claim is backed by exhaustive references and citations which is what ultimately redeemed this book in my opinion.

4 Far-Reaching Stars!
From the goodreads blurb:
“As a result of seven years of intense research, William Bramley has uncovered a sinister thread that links humanity's darkest events -- from the wars of the ancient pharaohs to the assassination of JFK. In this remarkable, shocking and absolutely compelling work, Bramley presents disturbing evidence of an alien presence on Earth -- extraterrestrial visitors who have conspired to dominate Humankind through violence and chaos since the beginning of time.” AND they are still with us today.

“Some people regard UFOs as a relatively modern phenomenon, but history shows they have been reported for thousands of years. In 216BC Julius Obsequens recorded reports of ships seen in the sky over Italy, as did Cicero in the 1st centuryAD. UFOs became so troublesome in the 8th & 9th centuries that emperor Charlamagne of France was compelled to issue edicts forbidding them from perturbing the air & provoking storms!" pg 161

For centuries, scientists and philosophers have attempted to solve the riddle of why people go to war. Bramley proposes that some human problems may be rooted in unrecognized & misunderstood phenomena and so, unacknowledged, they are not dealt with.

This book is one of those reads that makes you stop, think, and re-evaluate everything you thought you understood about power, influence, and who’s really pulling the strings behind the scenes. The author lays out complex ideas in a way that’s accessible but still packs a punch, weaving research, history, and sharp analysis into a narrative that keeps the pages turning.

Well organized, and info-packed, but wielded with very broad brush strokes. The account follows a good general time line presenting perturbing facts relating to the various recorded Establishment Religions, and a few "Maverick religions", from 5000BC Sumeria to 1989 when The Gods Of Eden was published, as well as the nefarious affairs (personal, political, financial, & religious) of the European Royal Families.

The book's strength lies in its ability to provoke thought and encourage deeper scrutiny of governments, corporate enterprises, public and private institutions, NGOs, and “philanthropic” organizations and its revolutionary conclusions rest on interpreting patterns often dismissed as irrelevant coincidence or unrelated correlation by mainstream analysis.

If you enjoy books that challenge your perspective and spark real conversation, this one is absolutely worth reading. A bold and compelling look into human history.🧚‍♀️🙋🏼.

This is a comprehensive, chapter-by-chapter breakdown of certain historical events dividing humankind and whether or not they could have been directed by a third party. The third party is question happens to be extraterrestrials.

Some of this is convincing, some is not. The short chapter format makes this book an excellent starting point. If anybody is looking to dive deeper into these historical events themselves, there you go.

There’s lots of talk about the Templars, the Freemasons, and various enigmatic figures who seem to come out of thin air. These outside influencers always seem to be able to drive nations into conflict. There are other chapters discussing whether or not the black plague and other pandemics were artificial (timely stuff here). It’s even speculated that religion itself is a construct designed to keep humanity at odds with each other.

This is a good book but gets a little dry 2/3 through.

If you've got a conspiracy theory- this book takes it on.

This is one of those "I've figured it all out" type of books. The author explains: UFOs, how people came to be, secret societies, Marxism, world banks, Capitalism, Communism, major/minor religions, the JFK/MLK/RFK assassination, CIA/FBI, royalty, assassination attempts on Pope JP2/Reagan... and much much more.

It's all well footnoted and that's why the book gets a 3 star rating. That and the fact he's a very good writer and it had very few typos/grammar errors.

Would I read it again? No. It's a long and tiresome book. I think my time would have been better spent elsewhere.

This book was interesting and while I really can't buy into some of his theories they were well thought out and seemed to be well researched. I love a good conspiracy theory and if it involves the possibility of extraterrestrials known as "custodians" teamed up with secret societies well then it is even better in my mind. This book was well done and did a good job of pointing out the machiavellian nature of our society through history and the history of a "brotherhood" (i.e. Masons etc.) society formed to keep the conflicts fueled and funded and the "custodians" (i.e. extraterrestrials) in charge. This book was a real trip "down the rabbit hole" as they say.

Did my history teacher forget certain things in my lectures in my youth? Probably not because it seems the truth is well hidden and corrupt.

William Bramley went writing a book about why we (humans)fight and kill each other all the time and it turns out there are many factions and hidden truths that keep us from knowing who we are and what our potential is.

Gods of Eden. A more proper title would have been "THE INVISIBLE BROTHERHOOD".
I picked this up because it was 50 cents. Would you believe Good Reads recommended it?

I began reading this book expecting some high class Kookery in the vein of Davide Icke, what I just finished felt like a anthology of mail-order pamphlets.

Much of what Bramley covered in this book was for me review, not to say I believed what he was selling, but I have come across the same material in my own diverse reading...

The major failing (well one of them) of this book is that the cannot seem to structure, or it seems salvage, a coherent argument. It may very well be that Bramley thought he needed to shove as much of his "research" into one narrative that he attempted to do just that, and we are left with the results. He begins the book talking about about Extraterrestrials and creates this idea of the "invisible brotherhood", and argues that the aliens either left or have stayed in the background "going invisible in world affairs.

Bramley glosses over a simplified version of western history, in a very piecemeal fashion I might add. As a Historian, and educator I found this vexing and frustrating. When discussing
Another example, Bramley's take on writings from the middle ages regarding the plague are completing ludicrous. In all his research he did not seem to come across anything about "plague doctors" fantastical depictions of death, or even a simply collected history on the evolution of the history of understanding of nature and causes of the plague.

The book itself is full of failed opportunities. For instance, while discussing the ancient world, Bramley missed a golden opportunity to cover Lemuria, Mu and Atlantis - so-called "lost civilizations" of myth that some believe have ties to ancient alien contact. Bramley chooses to mention in a long footnote late in the book...

-
I came to a certain point in this book where I realized Bramley had lost the thesis which he had been arguing early in the book. I thought, "Ok I'll give Bramley a few chapters and let see how he salvages the narrative". Well he didn't ... By the time I reached page 260 I realized just how many times this particular train had derailed. The final nail in the coffin was his chapters about the interconnected topics of Karl Marx,Communism and capitalism. that portion of the book seemed like bizarre political soapbox that came out of left field ( as did his statement against unions in the last chapter).

* some recommendations as alternatives to this book *

In chapter 35 the author discusses Guy Warran Ballard and the I AM foundation. Mitch Horrowitz's "Occult America" covers this and other topics of occult and esoteric American history in a slim volume that is entertaining and accesible. I recommend it as an alternative to Bramley's work.

For a more entertaining read that handles an even greater amount of material I recommend Illuminatus! by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. The audio book is also great

A near perfect text that delves into the hidden history of humanity. In it you will learn the history of several orders including that of Freemasonry (that will make you more knowledgeable than Master Masons) and both Illuminatis.

If you are interested in history or the hidden truth this is most definitely a book for you but it comes with one fall. The book fails to go into the collapse of the Vedic Empire and thus has one crucial flaw in its proposition regarding the transition of power. With the fall of the Vedic Empire we learn that there was indeed a changing point in history where Earth has exchanged ownership and one can see that the organizations were corrupted after this fall.

Aside from that the book is perfect.

While this book laid out some fascinating and compelling episodes of world history, it failed to prove its central thesis, making most of its chapters feel tangential at best. Plenty of topics were glossed over, such as the age-old warring factions of ancient tribal folk ((let's face it, humans (read:men) are just are a tribal and territorial species)). It did, however, prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that all the corruption in the modern economic world can be traced back to a handful of men, but who doesn't already know that? Personally I think the author was on to something, but this just wasn't a successful conveyance.

Bramley gives a good overview of the thesis that there is a hidden hand of extra-terrestrial origin behind the elite secret societies and powers structures that keep humankind tethered to war and societal disarray. If anything this book is hampered by the sheer scope of the project. In essence Bramley attempts to cover most of recorded civilised history and explain the influence of the aforementioned 'Custodians' during the transpiring events. What results is 'little butter spread over too much bread'. I would've liked to have seen the author restrict his scope and offer more detail. For instance, despite all that is covered, there is remarkably little mention of who this 'Custodial' group might be. Are they the Annunaki? Draco Reptilians? Nordics? Human time-travellers?
Serious UFOlogists will be annoyed at the lack of speculation on the authors part, as in essence, the hidden hand remains hidden and is rarely given attention save as a theoretical concept.

Additionally, the authors mischaracterisation of the Buddhist concept of Nibbana (Nirvana) was particularly unimpressive, and points to a lack of scholarship on Bramley's part and a tendency to place his personal opinions over undisputed fact.

Lastly, one of the final chapters of the book 'The Nature of a Supreme Being' was an unsophisticated rendition of the author's theistic beliefs and a real low point for the book to end on. Amongst other things Bramley exhorts spiritual practitioners to not "merge with" or go to "the being of light either during meditation or death" which are profoundly ignorant and damaging instructions, and belie a lack of meditative depth on the author's part. Practitioners absolutely should merge with the light (nimitta) at these times in order to experience Jhana and have a chance at enlightenment.

Overall this book is a good summary for those new to the concept of an extra-terrestrial hidden hand, but to more learned researchers, it lacks specificity and is bereft of spiritual wisdom.

Disclaimer: reviewing this book is in no way endorsing or supporting the theories contained in the book.

This is a unique mashup. It is like ancient aliens meets the da Vinci code with Hidden History and National Treasure. However it was published in 1989 so you can conclude many of those things were influenced by this work.

This is a book of speculative theories regarding how humans were created, how societies evolved, who those early gods were and what influence they have today.

The beginning won't be news to anyone interested in this field. Or anyone who watched StarGate. But what the author does spectacularly is show the overlap of myths, writings and societal behaviors. It is better than any Western Civ 1 class I ever had. His work on the fall of the Stewarts, the rise of the Hanoverians, central banks and mercenary armies is just stunning and shocking.

The beginning and the end of the book is a bit dry and hard to get started but once you do it is entertaining. The book is extensively footnoted and has a lengthy bibliography.

Human beings appear to be a slave race languishing on an isolated planet in a small galaxy. As such, the human race was once a source of labor for an extraterrestrial civilization and still remains a possession today. To keep control over its possession and to maintain Earth as something of a prison, that other civilization has bred never-ending conflict between human beings, has promoted human spiritual decay, and has erected on Earth conditions of unremitting physical hardship. This situation has existed for thousands of years and continues today.

The idea that human beings are a slave race owned by an extraterrestrial society is not a new one. It was expressed thousands of years ago in mankind's earliest recorded civilizations. The first of those civilizations was Sumeria.

Bramley provides amazing evidence of an alien presence on earth. I highly recommend this book. Great piece of work.

Conspiracy theory book that takes some interesting ideas and stretches them way too far. Sometimes it's the simple explanation that works. For example, he implies the assassination attempt on Reagan was part of a conspiracy. I always thought it was former chief spook Poppy Bush talking to his good friend's mentally ill son and suggesting that Jodie would really like it if he shot Reagan, although I suppose PNAC might have been part of it.

Anyway, the history in this book droned on, bringing in the Freemasons and Rosicrucians and the rest of the secret societies, linking them to aliens. There is plenty of evidence to support alien visitors. In the reference book Forbidden Archeology, Cremo includes all the puzzling paleoanthropology findings that were suppressed because they didn't fit existing theory. One of the findings is a shoe print from 50 million years ago. Deal with it.

A lot of this material will be familiar to fans of the ancient astronaut theory and its various offshoots. Some of it is similar to some of the opinions expressed by David Icke. And some of this material is somewhat original.

Digging a bit, I learned that the author (William Bramley is a pseudonym) is a former Scientologist, and the influence of that "religion" is evident throughout the book. But, don't let that turn you off from reading it. I certainly don't agree with all of the author's conclusions, but I don't disagree with all of them either. He draws on a very wide range of data and, if nothing else, this book -like so many others in this genre- is a great addition to your research, particularly the bibliography.

In 1966, when I was a nine-year old fifth grader, I read my older brother’s paperback edition of Frank Edwards’ Flying Saucers – Serious Business. That sparked a four-year fascination with UFOs and started my lifelong interest in outré and crackpot theories. The line between “outré” and “crackpot” is of course subjective, but I have a self-published book that claims the UPC barcode is the Biblical “number of the Beast,” and another that “proves” pop songs like Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” and the Beatles’ “Let It Be” are all about promoting drug use and/or are Satanic. I have a paperback that “proves” there are extensive non-human bases on the moon, with photos to back up the author’s claims…except that the circles and arrows superimposed on the photos of our moon don’t circle or point to anything at all. My personal favorite theory of this type purports the earth is hollow, there’s a huge opening at the North Pole, and that’s where the flying saucers come from. Prominent in this type of literature are conspiracy theories: Elvis faked his own death; the Apollo moon landings were all a hoax; the atomic bombs dropped on Japan were fakes; the earth is really controlled by the (Illuminati), (Freemasons), (Satanists), (lizard people) (take your pick).

A massive, classic work in this vein is The Gods of Eden, by William Bramley. In a thick (over 500 pages) work, Bramley brings together pretty much all of human history to show how we’ve been controlled by alien overmasters since before the dawn of humanity. It’s hard to give a concise summary of all of this, but suffice to say, it includes ancient civilizations, UFOs, all major world religions, all wars and empires and secret societies, capitalism, Marxism, New Age developments, and the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Whew! Even so, Bramley laments in the last chapter that the book is a mere outline, and there are so many topics he didn’t have the space to go into in detail, or mention at all. I had been mildly disappointed he had not included “hollow earth” theories, but then he did mention in passing the idea that the hollow earth is where UFOs come from, as one of the theories for which he didn’t have room. But I was also mildly surprised that he stopped short of claiming the beings controlling all of human history behind the scenes are lizard-like aliens.

What should be made of all this is up to the individual reader. Bramley presents a lot of information, much of which was new to me, but his conclusions often rely on accepting questionable theories and conjectures as givens. According to one online review (appropriately enough, on coasttocoastam.com), Bramley’s “intent was not to formulate a theory or create a dogmatic view on his findings, but to weave and tie the material together so the reader could draw his or her own summations more objectively.” Yeah, okay, whatever…but Bramley is clearly and emphatically trying to convince his reader that his summations are the correct ones.

In conclusion, reading works like The Gods of Eden is a guilty pleasure of mine. If you like reading stuff like this, or if you are a regular listener of radio programs like Coast to Coast AM, then this book is a must-read. (Also, if you’ve never read it, I recommend The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, which, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, explores in a fictional work the question, What if all conspiracy theories in existence were all simultaneously true?) Now, you’ll have to excuse me—I’m off to binge watch episodes of V.

It's like all conspiracies bundled together and supported by historical documents. I have only one issue is that everything gets blamed on that "Brotherhood" - who supposedly started off by wanting to help humans by letting Eve taste the apple of knowledge and then regretting it and trying to screw humans up by constant wars.

Interesting, but confusing.

As I first began to read this book, I kept wondering if what Bramley was saying was just polemically written to piss off people of faith. I don't entirely believe some of the things that he states when it comes to dispelling science but many of the historical context of his research is pretty convincing. It was a very hard book to put down as you find yourself reading if some of what he states is true when it comes to the biblical proverbs by looking them up. You do however have to have somewhat of an open mind because it does tend to get a bit irrational. It is an interesting book in the end and you are left with a different perspective on human history and current events.

The Gods of Eden by William Bramley is a relatively old book written in 1989. It is interesting to note that his purpose was to search the origins of human warfare and not to write this kind of book. Something that is supported by the fact that he hasn’t written anything else since then.
I read the book about 8 months ago. Even if I have read other books related to conspiracy theories and UFOs, Gods of Eden was the only one that captivated me because of the way the information is presented, which is a thorough and structured way. Bramley has fully researched the topic from many different angles, presenting theories and facts in a concise way using common sense and evidence.
He starts with the creation theories based on mythologies and religions and gradually builds up towards nowadays, showing the connections between historical events, presenting facts and evidence and how manipulation throughout the history of humanity has led to destructions, divisions between people, wars and deliberate diversion from reality. He goes through the development of the major religions, the secret organizations, aristocracy and political parties ending up to modern events and our current political, economic and religious systems. The common denominator in all this is that everything is connected in ways that show that someone or something is controlling the fate of humanity.
Even if I wasn’t totally convinced, I have to admit that in many topics I was persuaded that things may not be as we think they are.
Recently I have conducted an interview with Bramley which sparked again my interest in the topic and my further research in that matter, making this my first review on ‘goodreads’.
