Ruth E. Norman (born Ruth Nields; August 18, 1900 – July 12, 1993), also known as Uriel, was an American religious leader who co-founded the Unarius Academy of Science, based in Southern California.

Raised in California, Norman received little education and worked from an early age in a variety of jobs. In the 1940s, she developed an interest in psychic phenomena and past-life regression. These pursuits led to her introduction to Ernest L. Norman, a self-described psychic, in 1954. He engaged in channeling, past-life regression, and attempts at communication with extraterrestrials. She married Ernest, her fourth husband, in the mid-1950s. Together they published several books about his revelations and formed Unarius, an organization which later became known as the Unarius Academy of Science, to popularize his teachings. The couple discussed numerous details about their alleged past lives and spiritual visits to other planets, forming a mythology from these accounts.

After Ernest died in 1971, Ruth succeeded him as their group's leader and primary channeler. She subsequently began publishing accounts of her experiences and revelations. In early 1974, she predicted that a space fleet of benevolent extraterrestrials, the Space Brothers, would land on Earth later that year, which led the Unarius Academy to purchase a property to serve as the landing site. After the extraterrestrials failed to appear, Norman said that trauma she had suffered in a past life had caused her to make an inaccurate prediction. Undaunted, she rented a building for Unarius' meetings and sought publicity for the movement, claiming to have united the Earth with an interplanetary confederation. She revised the Space Brothers' expected landing date several times, before finally settling on 2001. Her health declined in the late 1980s, prompting her students to try to heal her with rituals of past-life regression. Despite predicting that she would live to see the extraterrestrials land, Norman died in 1993. Unarius has continued to operate after her death, and formed a board of directors. Since the 2000s, leaders have concentrated on individual transformation leading to spiritual change in humankind.

A COLLECTION OF ‘TRANSMISSIONS’ TO THE UNARIUS MISSON

Author Ruth E. Norman (‘Uriel’) wrote in the Preface to this 1980 book, “Throughout the 26 years of the Unarius Mission, I have been the recipient from the Space Brothers of dissertations, discussions and teachings through menta communication, that have (and still are) filling over 53 volumes of books. These books are the New World Teachings that are changing for the better, the lives of those who enter into this New Age scientific way of life. Yet… I feel strongly that the enclosed transmissions from Alta, the Emissary for the 32 worlds of the Interplanetary Confederation are of utmost importance and a vital need for … teachers of the New Age teachings… The Brothers of Light and Space can and will come to Earth in spacecraft. This has been the plan and purpose for many thousands of years… All persons on Earth should enter wholeheartedly into this great spiritual renaissance period for the Earth World. With all of the countless sightings of spacecrafts, no one could continue to disbelieve---yet some do! Let your consciousness or mind say: ‘Welcome to Earth, Space Brothers. We need your help to this rapidly regressing decadent Earth Planet!’” (Pg. i-iii)

‘Solar’ states, “There is a great revolution taking place---a revolution in the minds of the peoples whom you have brought back to their senses. Those of us who can be counted now as being the positive polarities from the trillions of earth worlds, can change these worlds and help them, as we now have their ballast. We now have the trajectory to pull them away from the substantial worlds from which they were receiving their signals.” (Pg. 9)

‘Donatus’ says, “We are no longer simply concerned with mechanizing the entire planet and being mechanized in return. There is a greater humanizing element within each of us; flowers and the foliage of our world that have been destitute because of over-mechanization, are now seen in a greater way; in the homes and in areas where people work are great parklands where people may recline and relax and become more aware of nature, of the Infinite as it speaks its voice in so many ways and in so many functions.” (Pg. 29)

‘Alta’ states, “in the great plan in the Mind, which is the Creative Intelligence in the Infinite, the finite replicas of this Infinite, as man, are given the prerogative to develop according to their own ability to determine their experience---the true factor of the intelligence that comes to that individual… there is development on different levels or at different speeds… and therefore in the grand evolution of Homo Sapiens as he has come to the point where he has the greatest computer of all… the brain which is programmed by the true intelligence.” (Pg. 48-49)

‘Alta’ is reported as saying, “The Infinite is the Unarius Brotherhood for the universe as a whole. This is the knowledge that has been broken up and has been separated… in time and space in terms of 3rd dimensional understanding of life; the sequence and the developmental understanding of life as it has its beginnings from the Creative Forces of the Advanced Beings known as the Causal Dimension… they are the cause and you and we are the effects!---the cause being their ability to create the force or the stuff of the Infinite… the stuff being the actual radiant energy from the Infinite Source.” (Pg. 79)

‘Alta’ continues, “What is needed in your world is a spiritual world who can lead the people, not by force but by example. This you do not have. The leadership of your world was very much like the leadership of our world to a greater or lesser degree, in that the peoples give full acquiescence to the words and the mind of that particular person, and where that person was more advanced in his recognition of freedom of choice and the inner force of the spirit, that he addressed himself to that significance in the individual person; man or woman, of course, being these people.” (Pg. 107)

Alta continues, “So Unarius is the grand and total climax of the attempt of man to research into the understanding of this mystique of life. It can now be understood because of the breakdown in the abysmal ignorance of this true understanding and function of consciousness---an ignorance which was fostered and developed by that other side of progress, which we have indicated as being the retrograde or negative factor of life of people who wish to hold on to the little word of earth and to live solely in the illusion of the phenomenon of feeling in the physical senses of the body.” (Pg. 144-145)

Alta states, “I had taken this position as ambassador only because, as I understand now, there is always a history in the development of the evolution of any one of the species of man that it has been so set up for me and by me in my lives I have lived in the inner worlds of spirit, the spiritual worlds where it was indicated to me that I had the predisposition to be able to work in this fashion where I could contain the knowledge of the negative factors of the life experiences of the many worlds and so integrate them to present the full picture of the past, present and future of the worlds into the greater plan of the future of the integrated whole of the worlds.” (Pg. 228-229)

Alta says, “So as Ernest L. Norman lived the life of the one who initiated the new Spiritual Age for man in the 1900s… so he was the one who initiated the new era of consciousness as Jesus of Nazareth two thousand years ago and initiating a cycle at that time… So Isis being the initial regenerator of a grand cycle ten thousand years, Ruth Norman and Mary Magdalen can be seen to be a continuation of the effort to spiritualize man in the physical world, as Osiris, Jesus and Ernest L. Norman were the same Consciousness, working in the very same way.” (Pg. 255-256)

Alta explains, “So the Unarius Brotherhood of al of the Teachers, those great advance Beings who have been given many names on your Earth world as Avatars, ae the very ones who represented the nature of true life in the personages of Mohammed, Buddha, Zoroaster, Jesus, Krishna and others who have represented these teachings as students of these Great Ones.” (Pg. 296)

Uriel concludes the book in a response to Alta, “And we may add, dear Brother, that all of the energies that have been projected throughout these days and these glorious hours, be regenerated and returned to all of these 33 worlds and unto all of the peoples therein!” (Pg. 351)

Anyone studying the Unarius Society (or, perhaps, other early ‘UFO religions’) would be interested in this book.
