If you're a new teacher, this is a great book. If you've taught at least 3 years, you will probably not learn a lot of new items. 30 out of the 300+ tips that it boasts were new to me. The rest of them were learned through experience, common sense, or just good manners.
This book has a lot of tips for new teachers that are not taught in school, such as when to call home, how to get kids to identify a bully, and ways to engage students. Having eighteen years in the classroom, I read it to see if there was anything new and fresh that I could do in my classroom. There wasn't, however, I found several techniques that I currently use, so the validation felt good.
It's as though she was speaking to me: Don't quit and open a bakery! (I always joked that's what I was going to do) There are a lot of pages marked with excellent tips and ideas.
