There's rich girls, and then there's Haru -- an ultra-rich heiress with more money than you could spend in your lifetime. She may be loaded, but she has to go to high school like everyone else -- and when you see everyone there as mere commoners, it might be just a little difficult to make friends. There's only one person who really hits it off with her: Tsurezure, an aloof hipster with a super-weird fashion sense. It's an unlikely friendship between oddballs in this heartwarming comedy about a couple of misfits, their high school class, and one long-suffering butler.
She's a rich, snobby transfer student who immediately alienates her new classmates with her condescending attitude. He's the short, unfashionable class weirdo who rarely speaks as he stares blankly into space. Another of those humor manga where two unlikely people find friendship and more as they help each other break out of their narrow and lonely little worlds. Told mostly in the vertical, four-panel gag strip format, it starts a little stiff and dumb and remains predictable throughout, but I'll be damned if it didn't grow on me by the end.
I had a pretty long break while reading this and it wasn't beacuse I did not enjoy it. This story was a lot cuter than I was expecting it to be. The characters all have quirks and likeable traits. The story focuses on much more than just the relationship side of things. We see our two main characters grow as people and there are some really sweet moments throughout. Even the "competitor" guy that shows up is a good character that adds to the story and helps build the other characters up in the process. This was a very pleasant read and very excited to read volumes 3&4 and see how it ends.
Not entirely sure what I expected, but this turned out to be a cute (and surprisingly sweet) series! Haru was a great protagonist, and I really liked Kawayanagi. But, it was butler Jiiya that had me cracking up--and the British snob, Chris was also a hoot! This is clearly a series with a lot of potential. Not the greatest you'll read, but a lot of fun. I look forward to the next installment.
Pretty solid little 4-Koma Omnibus. There were a few laugh out loud moments. =)
This concerns an Ojou making friends with a few fellow odd members of her class, namely the male protagonist on the cover who presents himself in a very old fashioned look (while also staring into the clouds and not being able to start conversations).
There is a small bit of story that does progress after a bit, though the start feels like it's going to just be the same setup and punchline comedy over and over. Just rest assured that there will be some character growth (whether you think it's subtle enough or no is up to you, but they do kind of smack you over the head with the whole "you're changing each other and the perception of yourself to those around you" theme).
Art is fine; it's a 4Koma, so nothing too crazy. Occasionally the panels go from that traditional 4-koma, to a more story oriented multi-page panel set, usually for more emotional moments. There are some 4-koma panels even that aren't very funny at points, just sad or emotional, so this isn't just an uproarious comedy.
This was so cute!! It's my first 4-koma, and it took me a bit of time to get used to the very regimented style, but I ended up enjoying this a lot. The artwork is adorable (I recognized the style immediately as the mangaka did 'Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid') and the series showed a lot of character development. Haru and Kawayanagi are too wholesome (´꒳`)♡ plus I love that there's a huge focus on Haru and Tendou's friendship. The ending is great. I can't wait to read the next volume!
Might be a cultural/manga thing, but I could not relate to the characters at all. I do like how the friendships grew, and how Haru started to soften and not be as stuck up.
