Sun Warrior by P.C. Cast is the second book in the fantasy Tales of a New World series. In the first book of the series readers were introduced to Mari who had been raised by her mother who was an Earth Walker. Calling on the power of the moon her mother could heal the clan and needed to name a replacement for her position. Mari should have been the one chosen but Mari had to hide half of herself her whole life because her father was not of the Earth Walkers. When an attack happened Mari decided to stop hiding the other half of herself after she was chosen by a canine from her father's clan.

Nik was a Companion from the clan that Mari's father had come from and was out with other members from his tribe searching for the lost pup when he saw Mari call on the power of the sun. Nik found out who Mari might be from his father who was friends with Mari's father and was determined to track her down. Unfortunately what brought the two together was Nik needing Mari's help.

The second book picks up directly where the first had left off with Nik and Mari needing to try to save both of their tribes and bring them together. The Earth Walkers and Companions have a long history of mistrust though leaving them to not trust one another but Nik and Mari need to convince their people that it is in their best interest to learn to trust and put the past behind them. Thaddeus is still out there wanting his revenge upon Mari as he believes she has stolen power from him and he will do anything even if it means destroying everything.

My biggest complaint at the end of the first book of this series was the pacing was just so incredibly slow. The world that P.C. Cast had created seemed interesting even though the story had started off a tad confusing waiting to find out how Nik and Mari's stories would connect in that beginning but once it all worked out I thought it would be one I would enjoy following. Unfortunately with this second book things did not pick up at all and if anything it seemed to slow down that much more. Honestly looking back on this one it seems about 80-90% character building with very very little action. Now that the tribes have merged the book was mostly making that happen and creating relationships within. By the time the bad side chapters sneak into the read it sometimes seemed almost comical as it would flip right back to the why can't we get along good guy side of the story.

In the end my rating has dropped with this second book to 2.5 stars. I suppose it might suffer from what I like to think of as middle book syndrome but I just don't see these needing to be anywhere near the 600 or so pages that they are as it just drags down the pacing so terribly much. On the bright side I suppose there is the positive note of bringing the different people together as we need that we need to just get along lesson in the real world.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Note to the reader this is not a stand-alone and must be read after Moon Chosen as it's the continuation of Marian Nick's story

Let’s establish something right away: PC Cast knows her job and its intricacies extremely well.
She's once more made me live an extraordinary adventure right alongside Mari, Nick and a collection of fascinating side characters. Some of them truly deserve their own books!

What's even more surprising she made me like Sora! In Moon Chosen I could not stand that superficial brat. I found her vain and egotistical. Then by the end of the book my opinion changed as the girl showed her insecurities. With Sun Warrior I’m now a huge fan of Sora. I like her sarcasm I like mischievous Sora. I like her down to earth and take no crap attitude.

She is less “perfect” than Mari and that’s why she feels more “real”.

Now back to the story and what captivated my attention all along.

We begin right after Mary and Nick’s escape from The Farm.

Nick’s father died at the hands of Thaddeus and Laru chose to follow Nick instead of dying.

In short: we begin right in the middle of an action scene.

Everything is burning around our heroes and Nick will try to save The Tribe of the Trees while Mari will lead some escaped Earth Walker women and Companions back to safety in Earth Walker territory. Of course she won’t be able to stay away from Nick and will go back to help him.

This part is packed with action, dangers, betrayals and new encounters. It’s only the beginning!

It really sets the tone of the story as on one hand you will have the “old” Tribe of the Trees now led by a vengeful and crazy Thaddeus (I fiercely hate Thaddeus! even more than Dead Eye). On the other hand it’s a new beginning for Mari, Nick and an assorted melee of Earth Walkers, Companions and even a Lynx man.

I loved that PC Cast built a story opposing distrust and hate to acceptance and love.
“I don’t know what happens, but trust has to start somewhere, and I’m saying it should start here and now,”

Accept the other in his/her difference, build a new world more open and filled with trust this is the core message of the second instalment.

That’s Mari and Nick’s dream. They want to build a new future around a new Pack.
“The Clan was broken when my mother died. I agree with Davis. I want more than to just rebuild a Clan that I had to hide my true self from. I want a Clan where we can be ourselves, in our best and truest forms.”

If PC Cast series happen in a dystopian world it’s undertone is very contemporary even historical.

What happens to The Tribe of the Trees and to the people of the city reminded me of what happened after the First World War with Hitler seizing the power and manipulating ordinary citizens to follow him in his madness. It’s when a people is at its lowest, decimated by a natural or economic disaster that ordinary people are the easiest to manipulate. The hate Thaddeus carried could take roots in the Tribe.

Prepare to be surprised in this sequel because:

-You will experience extreme emotions for the characters. Be it hate and disgust towards Taddheus and “Dead Eye”, pity for Dove, admiration for Mari and Sora… You may be subject to abrupt mood changes.

-Know that some scenes are nearly Game of Throne worthy. I had a really hard time to read some scenes with the dog (I’m a dog lover and dog owner so it was really, really painful to read). The Skin Stealer cure is also quite disgusting and its aftermaths heart breaking for some creatures. What “Dead Eye” inflicted to some was horrible and Thaddeus does not fare better. It’s sale season Ladies and Gents we get two villains for the price of one😉

-The new side characters are just awesome! Davis revealed unexpected side of his personality, it was fun to witness the “how to seduce Earth Walker women 101” lesson Sora gave to Antreas and I would say the animals are “character worthy” especially with a proud Bast and playful Rigel. Not to forget the “ever happy” Cammy. PC Cast did an excellent job portraying the canine companions, their play and attitudes. If you own a dog I dare you not to laugh out loud some time or sport a goofy grin while reading some scenes.

-As already said you will change your mind about some characters. I named Sora but I think my mood and opinion about Dove is changing too.

-PC Cast has of course some tricks and plot twists keep everything interesting moving the story to a new unexpected path. The world of The Clans, the Tribes and the others is changing forever.

I just have two minor complaints here:

-First Nick is very supportive of Mari and they obviously love each other but I wanted even more of their romance. It takes a backseat to the story but I can understand it was hard to avoid making this choice when you have so much characters, twists and turns.

-Second complaint: I had not my fill of Nick. I mean he was present and had some action scenes and all but the first book centered around two main destinies: Nick and what happened to him in the Tribe etc. and Mari. In this second book he is somewhat eclipsed by Mari, Thaddeus and Dead Eye’s stories.

So this is a letter to PC Cast: could you please give Nick a more prominent role in the third book? Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Recommend it? Hell yes! But only after you’ve read the first book.

Have you read it? Loved it?

Seriously loving these characters and this world. I think this one flowed better because we already got the majority of the backgrounds and world building out of the way. This book was so much easier and faster to read than the first one, though I still really liked the first book of the series. I am very interested in seeing more from these characters and this intriguing world!

The second instalment in the Tales of a New World series, Sun Warrior takes off immediately off of where Moon Chosen left off. With the forest on fire and many falling to its flames, good and evil rise to take over. The Skin Stealers plot their take over of the dying tribe of tree and the Earth Walkers plan their new lives as a freed people. Mari is thrust back into the responsibility of saving not only herself, but all of the Earth Walkers and a good piece of the Tribe of Trees as well. Nik, still devastated by the loss of his father, pushes on with the hope of a new beautiful life with Mari and their companions. But Thaddeus's evil is spreading, and that dream is becoming less and less likely.
I surprisingly loved this book, even more then Moon Chosen. The series seems to get its own two feet in this novel and really hits the ground running. All of the pieces that were being set up start to fall into place in Sun Warrior. I had found the constant narration from Dead Eye to be unappealing and it felt almost pointless, but in Sun Warrior it all comes together and leaves the reader fully engaged. My favourite part of the novel was actually the conclusion because it left me looking forward to the potential of the next novel in the series. Overall, I loved Sun warrior and give it the rating of FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!!!

The down side to reading a really good book when it first comes out is you've got to wait so long to continue the story. It was pulling at my heart in so many ways. I was sad, joyous, and madder than hell, but most of all I felt the love pouring out of every chapter. I just really want to sit and have the entire series, start to finish, in front of me. waiting is the hardest part!!!

Copy kindly received from Pan Macmillan Australia in exchange for an honest review, and in preparation for the release of Wind Rider.

Sun Warrior continues Nik and Mari's story from the exact point where it finished off in Moon Chosen. This one flows a lot nicer and is a lot easier to read than the first book, and I think thats mainly due to the fact that Cast spent plenty of time explaining and introducing these characters and their world in the first novel.

The only things I didn't like about this novel, were the different chapters from the "Champion's" side of things, but thats probably mostly because, a) its a personal preference that annoys me in many books, and b) I just plain didn't like him.

I absolutely loved how this story brings so many people together. I really and truly enjoyed beginning to understand and get to know so many of these characters so much more, and discover how they would interact with each other in their new situation. We get a lot more depth to some of the secondary characters in this one, and there are plenty of little surprises thrown in as well.

Mari and Nik of course are stand-outs, but Sora is back, and so is Davis, Sheena and O'Bryan, along with many others. I was also really intrigued by Antreas. I'm really keen to see how these characters play out in Wind Rider, as they're some of my favourites.

Thaddeus of course is back with a vengeance, and I really really cannot stand that guy. Of course, thats the whole point, but, ya know. *shrugs*

By the end of this one, many things have started to fall into place for these guys and their plans for the future, and I'm really invested in seeing how their stories play out. There are many characters that I'm rooting for, and I have some inklings to who I want to do what, and who I want to end up together.

Whilst some of the surprises in this novel are to do with secondary characters, there are also of course plenty of great bits with Nik and Mari, and some surprises there as well. I really like how perfectly these two fit together, and how strong they are as a team. Throw in all their friends, and this is one tight unit that is learning to work really well together.

There are a so many things that take place in this novel, but one of the huge changes is the characters accepting each other and wanting to make changes and start a new life for the better. This is a huge huge theme of this series, and I think Cast has written it well.

There is still a long ways to go for these guys, and I'm sure theres danger ahead, but I'm keen and I'm invested in finding out what happens to them. Bring on book 3!

Sun Warrior picks up exactly where Moon Chosen left us hanging. This book was a great follow up and I can’t wait for book 3!

I loved this book so much. We are taken deeper into Mari’s world and some other unexpected guests along the way. I loved meeting the new companions and their canines and lynx. I loved seeing Sora finding herself and Danita too. Mari coming into her own skin. Love being rekindled and possibly some new love on the horizon.

P.C. Cast is a masterful storyteller. She weaves a world of fantasy and intrigue that you never want to leave. It just keeps you coming back for more and more. I can’t wait to read what awaits the Pack. I know that whatever it is that they will conquer it, flawlessly, together.

I did it, I read Sun Warrior. It was a book I picked up with a great deal of trepidation and no small amount of dread. The House of Night Series remains one of the worst I have ever endured and Moon Chosen manages to plum still deeper depths. I did not have high expectations for Sun Warrior

Which made reading Sun Warrior, almost a pleasant surprise. Oh, not because it was good. Not because it came even close to good. Not because it could even see good on a clear day with a telescope. Because it wasn’t remotely. Nor was it not deeply problematic in many many ways (especially dwelling on a lot of rape as well as some really terrible treatment of the former slaves the Companions controlled) But it managed to avoid a whole lot of the most awful traits of the first book by… basically pretending they never happened or by retconning or by brushing over them super quickly.

Like the book tries to emphasise what a wonderful caring healer Mari is… we’re all completely avoiding the way she just abandoned her people and listened to them scream. At best we have a brief nod while everyone rallies round Mari to tell her she’s amazing and we spend the rest of this book with just about everyone treating Mari like the second coming. Or there’s the racial coding and Blackface of the last book which is just ignored in this book. The description of Earth Walkers as ugly vs the “refined” features of the Companions has been dropped entirely. The Nightfever is there, but handwaved and we’re all far more concerned by the new plague from the Skin Stealers. She even develops a whole new load of traditions about Clan Weaver weaving - which sounds simplistic, but last book Mari didn’t think her people were capable of art.

It’s not that the book has changed, dispensed with or otherwise redeemed the badness of the last book: it’s just pretended none of it ever happened.

It does have its own problematic elements which largely stem from the writing: it’s horribly slow pace, the endless telling-with-no-showing and the Mary Sue omniscience of the main characters held together with a whole lot of magical plot glue.

This book, this oh-so-long-book, covers about a week, maybe a fortnight. And in that time Mari and Nik decide to create a whole new society called the Pack where all people come together in mutual love and tolerance. Which sounds nice - except remember like 2 days ago these Earth Walker women were imprisoned and enslaved by the Companions. They were enslaved for generations as a people and some of these women had literally spent many years in captivity. It is REASONABLE for these women to be at least a little wary of the Companions. It is reasonable for these women to be more than a little concerned when Mari decides to host several Companions in their BIRTHING BURROW. The place where pregnant women of the Clan give birth. And some of these Companions were literally among the raiding party that kidnapped several Clan women AND killed Leda, Mari’s mother and pretty much destroyed the Clan, a few weeks ago. Hey, y’know, it’s not exactly an act of vicious bigotry for the these women to think that they’d rather their enslavers not camp in the most sensitive parts of their home. But Mari treats them as grossly intolerant and drives some of the women out for not embracing them men who hunted and owned them 2 days before - and no-one challenges her on this

This follows Mari, in both books, repeatedly talking about the bigotry of her people and why she had to hide: but we never see this. Literally not one member of Clan Weaver turns on Mari for being half Companion Tree-Person. Not one. But she repeatedly tells us of the lengths she has to go to to avoid this non-existent bigotry. She continually refers to this non-existent bigotry to bludgeon the surviving Clan Weaver women to just ABANDON their society.

We have something similar with the Companions - with Nik and Mari assuming the Companions will definitely try to kill her and return to their slaving ways. Perhaps there’s more justification in assuming the slave holding Companions being regarded with more suspicion - but we don’t see it; no real wide spread rejection or hostility. The only Companion who really clings to real negativity towards the Earth Walkers is Thaddeus - who is infected by the Skin Stealer disease. But Nik decides to leave his people at a time of utter peril, taking with him Laru (his pet dog and the alpha. Which sort of makes him leader. It’s like a Canine Excalibur) when the ONLY opposition he gets is from Thaddeus the diseased one. He leaves his people literally to die for the sake of a prejudice that we never see.

And despite everyone knowing Thaddeus killed the last Sun Priest, no-one does anything about it. He just wanders around being evil, gathering followers and everyone just shrugs and moves on -not for any reason other than the author NEEDING Thaddeus to run around being super evil to advance a plot. Reasonably these characters would have killed/banished/dropped him down a hole but the plot needs him to be there

This whole lack of actual prejudice is a problem because both Nik and Mari use this supposed prejudice as an excuse to abandon the Companions completely (despite having lost over half of their population in a devastating forest fire and desperately desperately needing help, they have no healer, no home, few resources and lots of wounded) and force the Earth Walkers to completely change their way of life. This prejudice NEEDS to be real to stop Nik and Mari being completely self absorbed and utterly callous towards others and without it being depicted they still look self-absorbed and callous… but also weirdly paranoid. “Everyone hates me!” but… no-one does. I mean, ever.

This prejudice is even used as the driving force for Mari deciding the Pack needs to relocate to a whole new unknown land - this prejudice is an essential driver of the plot and it’s NOT THERE

The books also really fails to examine, well, anything in any real depth. Like Mari and Nik are building this new society and, then, deciding to move to the great unknown to live with pretty horses - but it’s ok everyone going with them choses to follow. Except the Earth Walkers will pretty much die without Mari to wash them. And the Companions are vulnerable to the death fungus which means basically half of them die if they suffer even a minor break of their skin: an ailment that Mari can cure. Oh and now we have the Skin Stealer disease which… only Mari can cure. At no point does any character even slightly hint that Mari has complete power over everyone and how little free will everyone else has because of this. Mari herself never thinks for a second about the ethics of everyone’s dependence on her - even when she threatens to leave or abandon people. Just some level of thought would be nice

Which brings me round to how Mari is just the most ridiculous Mary Sue ever. Mary Sue is a much abused term and is often used by sexist readers to dismiss any half way competent female character - but Mari is such a classic example. She has ALL THE SHINY POWERS in incredible amounts and even Thaddeus wants to capture her to use her special shininess. She is everyone’s saviour since she can heal the Skin Stealer Plague - but it’s not just her powers; it’s the way everyone treats her. Unless you’re actually designated Evil, you love Mari. Everyone loves Mari. Everyone agrees with Mari. She’s radically changing society and gets barely more than a token protest. People line up to love her. When one of the Skin Stealers is fleeing her people she prays to the Earth Goddess and MARI HEARS THE PRAYERS. She’s also getting some very House of Night-style divine guidance as well adding to her specialness. And this is why the whole prejudice themes fail - because the author just can’t bring herself to have people dislike Mari.

"Isn't death just another part of life- perhaps the most important part?"
This book was one of my most anticipated releases of 2017 and it met some of my expectations and exceeded others!
This book picks up immediately after the events that happened at the end of Moon Chosen but even though there were a lot of things happening, I still felt like it had a slow start. It drove me a bit further into my slump but it was to be expected since it was the same situation with the first book. But I am grateful I got myself out of that mindset because here we are, writing a book for one of my favorite series ever.
This world is difficult to explain without giving away spoilers so I will just keep this review character based, like most of my reviews.
I really liked witnessing the relationship between Mari and Nik grow the way it did. Those two haven't had it easy since I met them but they make me proud. They handle their situations with a grace and bravery that I hope to embody someday.
I also found myself super invested in Jaxom's story line. My heart broke for him the most and I couldn't control all the tears I shed for him and his situation. I wish I could have reached inside the pages to soothe his sorrow away but I can only hope the next book brings him closure for his happiness to shine once more. He doesn't deserve what he's going through and I hope Cast hears my prayers over his situation.
Oh, and I'm even more obsessed with lynxes because of Bast. I can't wait to see more Antreas either! I love his wit and I am dying to see more of his story line develop in the next novel.
There are just so many phenomenal characters within this tome of a book that I can't incorporate them all in this review.
The villain in this novel has to be one of the worst (or should I say best?) characters that I've ever read. Trust me, that's a good thing. It's a fantastic thing. This character terrified me beyond belief. His transformation was absolutely fantastic but I despise him with a hatred I haven't felt in a long time. Let alone towards a fictional character. Cast has won me over with her ability to create some of the worst and rotten beings I've ever encountered in fictional worlds.
I had a bit of an issue with some of the dialogue (it felt unrealistic) but other than that, this book was all that I wish it was going to be and more.
This is one of the few books I've ever read where the side characters are just as intriguing as the main ones. No matter which point of view was thrown my way, I was completely immersed in their story, no questions asked. I was protective of most of them and I could only sit back and watch as this savage world Cast created threw bad things their way. This book had me scared of the way it would end and I was right to feel that way. I shed so many tears over it all and I can't wait to see what the next book will hold for us. I can't wait to meet new characters and territories!

4.5 stars!

Also posted on my blog

Before I get into my review, I would really briefly like to address the issue that people have allegedly been having with this series, apparently because they have seen racist parts in it. I am not usually someone who engages in debates like this and I like to keep myself out of them in general but I would like to say that personally, I have not read or seen anything remotely racist in this series. Yes, the characters of the Tribe and the Clan are both incredibly bigoted and racist towards one another in the beginning of the series (especially in Moon Chosen) but the entire premise of this book (which is also why it's called Tales of a New World) is set on the idea of coming together, putting aside prejudices which rest on skin color, background, etc. and build a better life elsewhere with people who are accepting and loving towards everyone. Just because the characters within a book series have racist tendencies does not mean that this is supposed to be seen as the author's personal opinion or to be seen as 'good' traits. Characters go through major character developments in books like these, and it's not always going to be the case that all character are going to be accepting (even just taking the statistics of our own world). There would be no growth on these issues (when tackling them in literature) if we would not have a starting point which is bad. And also, people can change and grow with these issues. People can ask for forgiveness and learn to be better people, and that includes book characters.

But I would also like to say that if you personally do not want to read this series or have DNFed it because of the issues that you have been having, that is totally fine. I respect everyone's opinions and freedom on this issue.

I am super excited for book 3 (which is also I believe the last book in the series). I absolutely cannot wait to see what's going to happen. P.C. Cast has - again - crafted an absolutely phenomenal, magical, breathtaking world in which I love to read in!

Okay, don’t get me wrong, I DID enjoy this book. I really did. But parts of it just dragged on and on and it took me forever to finish for that reason. This book could have easily been condensed down to 400 pages with none of the story being cut out.
I loved seeing Nik and Mari’s journey after the fire in this book, and the creation of the new pack. The new characters were also awesome additions! I definitely have some new favorite characters that weren’t in the first book as much.
I’ve seen a lot of character development in almost all of the main characters. Especially Sora, when she was handed something that was foreign and new to her, she still kept an open mind to it and did the best she could in those situations. That’s a lot different from when we first met her in Moon Chosen, am I right?!
Overall, I enjoyed this book. The only complaint I would have is that it was too long for no real reason.. That’s why I marked it down a star. But I will be continuing on when the next book comes out, and I can’t wait to see the horses! We’ve gotten dogs, lynx’s and next is horses, what a treat!

I loved the book but the only thing that turned me off about both books is the stories of Dove and Dead Eye. To me it does not really fit in the books until Dove came in contact with does and the "pack". Then I totally understood the story but still a turn off for me. I cannot wait to get the 3rd book!!!!

No já nevím...na jednu stranu to není krátká knížka.

Tahle nesourodá skupina lidí a zvířat si začne říkat Smečka a v podstatě ji vede pár mladých, kteří s něčím takovým nemají žádné zkušenosti. Yay (a všude mezitím romantická linka of course)

Lesní kmem (spíš to, co z něj zbylo)

A ještě zabili pár kanců a nakazili Lesní kmen.

Postavy:

Mari a Nika nebudu komentovat.

Její vývoj pokračoval i tady. A navíc už má taky štěně 😁.

Samomluva. Pořád ta samomluva. Ne u jedné postavy. Všechny postavy očividně trpí samomluvou. Nemohly by si to pouze myslet? Mě to třeba opravdu rozptyluje.

To samé Mariino věcné Ach, Niku! Ach, Rigele!

So I went into this barely remembering what happened in Moon Chosen. But everything worked out! The beginning of this book has Nik and Mari running from the fire that started at the Farm and we get a bit of a summary of the ending of book 1. Which was perfect to jog my memory enough.

So Thaddeus is still a fucking asshole and I wanted him to die in that forest fire he started, . Basically, I hated him a lot and he probably will always be one of my most hated characters, .

Mari and Nik are still so adorable and I love how their relationship is built on trust, communication and mutual dreams. I really hope they'll end up living happy old lives with their Pack and the doggos. One character who is introduced in book 1 gets a bit of spotlight in this and I absolutely loved his character development. Antreas is awesome because his companion is a damn Lynx, like how cool!? I really enjoyed the conversations he had with Sora about Earth Walker customs and his own.

The Skin Stealers evolved into something new and I don't really know what to say about them besides they still creep me out and I'm now kinda scared of what Dead-Eye became.

Love, love, love this book! It's a very worthy successor to Moon Chosen and is really just as exciting and entrancing.

Sun Warrior continues the story of Earth Walker Mari and Nik of the Tribe. Two people so unlike in so many ways and so similar in others, and who use their new found understanding of each other and their cultures to show their people how they need not remain enemies and how they could come together without the hatred between them. Sadly there are still those with other plans.... Thaddeus of the Tribe is still plotting for power over the Tribe while Skin Stealer Dead Eye of the People has much more horrific and very disturbing plans of his own to follow which will disrupt and ultimately destroy everyone's lives if his work comes to fruition.

All in all this is an entertaining and energetic read, well paced and well worked with ever growing future potential going forwards with series. The characters are all fantastic for many varying reasons and all have a part to play in the ongoing saga. The world is steadily growing clearer and fuller as time goes by and things are making a lot more sense now.

Would I recommend it? Most definitely!

My eyeballs literally flew thru the many, many pages of this wonderful read (how's that for a visual...hehe).

But seriously, I could not put this book down. I loved the storytelling from each POV of our main characters (and even some side characters) which helped with context and world building.

Speaking of world building, I thoroughly enjoyed the different elements to it and how every character reacted to and in their surroundings. Very well done, in my opinion.

What I especially loved about this series so far (aside from the fantastical adventures and hints of romance EVERYWHERE) was the amount of character growth the author has blessed each and every character in this story. P.C Cast did not hold back and I am here for it.

Love, love, love everything about this story and the direction it seems to be going. All I need is to purchase the third book in this series and we're good to go. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to do so at this time so I will have to wait until I do. Hoping it's sooner rather than later. Crossing fingers and prostrating myself to the Book gods. Happy reading!

Nik a Mari čelí hněvu Thaddea a dalších členů Lesního Kmene, který shořel v plamenech..
Nik a Mari vytváří něco nového a silného a musí, co nejdříve odejít..

No jo, jenže teď v tom nejlepším máme čekat na další díl?

Přesto to není nuda. Neustále se tam něco děje, řeší, poznává, je tam i ta romantika. Vztahy a podobně. Postavy jsou dobře vytvořené.Baví mě. Fandím jim. Líbí se mi. Příběh je vtipný. Díky zvířatům roztomilý. No svět nemá chybu.

Just finished the second book in this series - Sun Warrior
I really loved this book-
it is beautifully written, and there is great world-building.
It gives a glimpse into a possible future that is only mildly dystopian.

It is so easy to root for the main characters Mari and Nik, and their canine companions.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series, which I hope will bring everything to a nice conclusion.

The only negative is that sometimes I had to read certain parts again to understand better. But man this is the book I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait for the next!

This is a great continuation of Moon Chosen! I did struggle through the Dead Eye/Death chapters, however, because I just wasn't in the right mental place to deal with the darkness and violence. Mari and Sora are fantastic, strong female characters and I loved the addition of Antreas and Bast. It's a great, feel-good YA series that furthers my love for animals.
