Why is this a trend in YA novels? I believe this book sets a new literary record with six such names.

This was just an alright read for me, a slightly above average YA thriller holding my attention until the last few chapters. Once the twist was revealed I kinda lost interest in how it would ultimately play itself out.
Basically this is your typical girl goes missing and the boyfriend, being the main suspect, sets out to find out what happened to her.
I must admit, although I thought I had the mystery figured out a dozen different times, I was never even close to the truth. That being said, the reveal was still a letdown. I think I feel that way because this same twist has been done many times and way better. I recall one book with this same twist that made me sit up gasping because it was such a shock leaving my mind reeling, compelled to re-read the book to see what clues I missed.
I feel like a lot of this story was spent trying to lead the reader in the wrong direction leaving me with a sense that I'd been manipulated rather than stimulated.
Lastly, I have no idea what the title has to do with this story.

I'm starting to think that I may need to take a break from YA mysteries, because insanity is reading the same genre over and over and expecting a different result. The blurb for this book is so vague and mysterious and I was here for it, but then as I began this book and read on, I discovered this was mostly, in fact, a problematic romance with a hint of excitement at the end. If you haven't read more than a handful of thrillers featuring an unreliable narrator, then you will likely be surprised by the ending, but otherwise may find this one a tad on the predictable side. Super disappointed that I couldn't connect with this one, but am hoping the right readers will find this book and enjoy the heck out of it.

We Told Six Lies by Victoria Scott is a young adult mystery/thriller. The story is told from the different points of view of Molly and Cobain and along with switching the timeline from the current to events in the past.
What the story starts off with is joining Cobain in the present as he’s being questioned by police. It seems that Cobain and Molly may or may not have been in a long time relationship depending on who is asked. But what definitely is true is that Molly has come up missing and all eyes are on Cobain.
Cobain believes that he and Molly were very much in love and he is worried that something bad has happened to Molly. Other witnesses say that Molly had said she had ended things with Cobain long ago so did he actually do anything to Molly? Did she leave on her own? Cobain is just as determined to learn the truth of what happened to Molly as the police.
The one thing that comes with having an unreliable narrator such as Cobain is the chance that the audience may not come to care about them. This would be my take on reading about Cobain and Molly’s story, I just didn’t find myself overly invested in the characters or outcome. As the story went on though I was pretty certain I knew how this was going to turn out and unfortunately that is what happened. The end may come as shocking to some but reading a lot of thrillers I can think of how it’s been done before and done better so it again made this one that will undoubtedly end up in the forgettable pile.

I read this book in one sitting last night and it isn't even that short.
Shocking!
I didn't think the plot was completely unpredictable, but I think maybe that was exactly the point. You kind of see where it's going - or so you believe - and you grip your Kindle hoping you're wrong, at least a little wrong. I was a little wrong but in an even more shocking way.
I think this book is perfect for those readers who like twist-guessing and thrilling young adult stories.

I still really want to solve the mystery of the title! I have read the book, and I still have no idea what the six lies were. I feel like I should know, but I don't. And I really want to!!
But putting that aside, this book was pretty good! There was so much that happened, and it was really unpredictable!
I always thought I knew what was about to happen, but then I never really did...
Characters were complex, and I really liked that. But their names were also equally as complex as their personalities... Cobain? Nixon? Rhana? Davea? I loved them all, but I struggled to keep track!
The unreliable narrator also mixed things up quite a bit, an made it that much more diffcult to solve the mystery.
A thrilling mystery and an engaging read!! Can't wait for this to be published!!

Cobain thought everything was going great with his girlfriend Molly, until she goes missing. Until everything he thought he knew about her and their relationship comes crashing down around him. Until he sets out on a mission to find her all on his own—because the police are too busy trying to pin the crime on Cobain himself.
Oof, this is a tough one to rate and review. On one hand, it was kind of addicting and I flew through it; on the other, there’s a lot to unpack here that might make this one a tough sell for a lot of readers.

The truth is, I want to talk about her. I need to go back through every moment we shared and figure out where things went wrong.
Let’s talk about the pros first: most notably, the writing here is great. Victoria Scott is a talented storyteller and I was easily captivated by the characters and setting she laid out. The mystery was suspenseful (and, while not shocking to me, would probably draw gasps from quite a few readers), and I liked the twist at the end, even if it wasn't very fleshed-out. Overall, it’s a pretty decent thriller.
I’m thinking about Molly’s hands. How small they were in mine. Not nearly large enough to hold my heart inside them, and yet they did. But now she’s gone.
There’s also the matter of the characters, who I liked, though I don’t think I was supposed to? They’re problematic, toxic, manipulative, and flawed as hell, but I kind of enjoyed how gritty and awful they were. Granted, I have mixed feelings about recommending this book based on that fact, which I’ll get into more later. Mostly, I was stunned by how unapologetically manipulative and conniving Molly is—I don’t feel like most YA authors are willing to go there when writing a love interest.

Was there anything I wouldn’t have done for her from that moment forward? I was easy. One act of kindness and I belonged to her.
Unfortunately, I had two major problems with this book:
1) There are several plot threads that don't get tied up in the end, leaving me wondering why they were introduced to begin with.
2) The main character's viewpoint on romance and his relationship with Molly is kinda terrifying. He's super toxic and borderline abusive (maybe more than borderline, tbh). It seems at points like it's being addressed, but in the end, I didn't feel like progress was made. While it was interesting to read, it’s hard to really recommend to the target audience for this book, because I have a lot of weird feelings about encouraging teens to read this ‘romance’.
There’s also a lot of talk of mental health struggles and suicidal ideation in this story, and it’s thrown about pretty casually, so if that’s a major trigger for you, PLEASE be aware ahead of time!

Despite how quick and fun of a read it was in the moment, those two drawbacks were enough to stop me from giving this a more positive rating. I'd probably check out more work from Victoria Scott in the future, but don't think I'll recommend this one too highly.

Another mystery, another unreliable narrator. When the first twist came (long into the story) it surprised me. Then the second one came. Again, nice twist. And then they kept coming, kept coming, kept coming and I’d had enough. I think a good mystery uses twists sparingly and at the right time. When you throw a bunch in at the end of the book it discounts them and makes for some eye-rolling.
Cobain, our first person narrator for most of the story, weaves a tale of an alluring, unique girl, Molly, who is he just lucky enough to date. But when Molly disappears and foul play is expected, eyes turn to him and he turns desperate to learn the truth. While Cobain did annoy me some I didn’t mind his narrative too much.
Molly’s, on the other hand, I could have done without. I didn’t like her perspective at all. She wasn’t a sympathetic character to me, and as our kidnap victim, I think that’s kind of important.

Well, that was quite a strange little book I just read.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am not one for mystery novels, especially YA mystery novels. And yet, I constantly find myself reading them. Why? I have no idea. I don't necessarily like them. Maybe I'm secretly holding hope that I'll find one to blow me away. Sadly, this one wasn't it.
This novel was a ride. It was like watching a horrible car crash on the freeway, all going up in flames. I couldn't look away!
This book is, as you guessed, a mystery. Molly has gone missing and her boyfriend, Cobain, with whom she had previously planned to run away, is the main suspect. The story is told in three different POVs/ time periods. We get to see the past, before Molly went missing, told from Cobain's pov. Then, we see the present from both Cobain's pov, as he tries to find his girlfriend and Molly's pov, as she tries to escape the masked man who has abducted her.
Throughout it all, everyone becomes a suspect. Molly wasn't exactly a saint, and Cobain isn't exactly the hero he likes to think he is.
The entire novel is full of twist and turns, leaving me unsure of who truly was to blame for all of it. There was so much happening and yet, I have to admit, I didn't much care for the mystery. The chapters in which we saw Cobain trying to solve the mystery weren't as interesting to me as seeing Molly's manipulations as she tried to escape, or as seeing the origin of their relationship.
The reason I kept reading was because of the charcters. The main characters were the true car crash in this novel. They were a tragic, disturbing mess and I wanted to know more about them! Their relationship is borderline abusive, going both ways. It's toxic and manipulative. It's something that I would not wish upon anyone, and yet, it was so interesting!
Molly is a manipulator. She uses Cobain's emotions to get what she wants, and constantly refers to him as her wolf, a beast to which she alone holds the leash. Cobain is obsessed with Molly, constantly following her home and forcing her to admit she loves him. They are wicked, horrible people, their relationship was all types of wrong, and I wanted to keep reading about them if only to see how far they would go before they destroyed each other.
Also, a lot of people complained about the characters and their abusive relationship. Do I agree that it's toxic? Yes, it's an extremely messed up romance between two seriously messed up people. But I don't think the book necessarily glorifies it. Not all books need to have nice, lovable characters in good and happy relationships. That's not the reality of the world. Some relationships are like this, and as long as authors aren't praising them and telling young, impressionable people that this is the norm, I see nothing wrong with writing them.
In the end, this was entertaining for the time being. Will I remember much of this in a few months? Probably not. Do I recommend it? I don't know. If you like mysteries and you won't be bothered by these characters, you might like it. Otherwise, I don't think this might be the one for you.

So I'm the kind of reader that fall for a cover and suddenly gets interested in everything about the book. That's how I got curious about WE TOLD SIX LIES. I didn't know the author but when I saw the cover and the tittle I was drawn to it. And then the blurb? It gave me goosebumps! So I started it not knowing what I would get, to finished it mesmerized by the story I just read. The author made us believe in so many things. I hate spoilers but I always read making assumptions, theories.. just trying to figure out what's goin on. And this whole time I thought one or other character was being played to discover in the end I was the one being played. And I just LOVE IT. Some of my theories became real but even so the way the author wrote this finals chapters left me full of adrenaline and tense and OMG with an accelerated heart. After I finish it I actually didn't know the rate I would give to the book. But after putting my feelings it this text, for the creativity, the way the author created this story, the way she made us believe in somethings, and also for writing in a different style like, first, second and third person in the same book, WE TOLD SIX LIES deserves all the stars. Well done, Victoria. Well done.

Então, eu sou o tipo de leitora que se apaixona por uma capa e de repente se interessa por tudo sobre o livro. Foi assim que fiquei curiosa sobre WE TOLD SIX LIES. Não conhecia a autora, mas quando vi a capa e o título, fui atraída pra ele. E então a sinopse? Ela me deu arrepios! Então, comecei não sabendo o que eu iria receber, pra terminar hipnotizada pela história que acabei de ler. A autora nos fez acreditar em tantas coisas. Eu odeio spoilers, mas sempre leio fazendo suposições, teorias... apenas tentando descobrir o que está acontecendo. E esse tempo todo pensei que um ou outro personagem estava sendo enganado para descobrir, no final, que eu era quem estava sendo enganada. E eu simplesmente AMO ISSO. Algumas das minhas teorias se tornaram reais, mas mesmo assim a maneira como a autora escreveu os capítulos finais me deixou cheia de adrenalina e tensa e OMG com um coração acelerado. Assim que terminei, eu realmente não sabia que nota eu daria para o livro. Mas depois de colocar meus sentimentos nesse texto, pela criatividade, o jeito que a autora criou essa história, o modo como ela nos fez acreditar em algumas coisas, e também por escrever em um estilo diferente como primeira, segunda e terceira pessoa no mesmo livro, WE TOLD SIX LIES merece todas as estrelas. Bem arquitetado, Victoria. Bem arquitetado.

I read to 45% and then skipped to 80% and read the rest of it.
I didn’t care for the characters and that made me struggle with caring about their journey. The flip flop of then and now chapters were clever, but the constant use of “you” as the story progressed kept me from settling into the story.
The ending slash reveal was okay, but definitely not enough to get me to read the part that I skipped. I can see how people might like this, it just wasn’t for me.

I teetered between a 3 and 4 star rating for this one. Went with a 4 because of the ending. The last 50 pages really had me turning the pages faster and faster. But....this doesn’t go without the typical over the top YA troupes. Crazy character names (the author must be a Nirvana fan) and the “ok, calm down kid” teenager emotions. With that said, the story was good and the ending was fantastic.

Guys, THIS BOOK!
To be honest, I didn't expect it to like this book to much, but it totally blew my mind!
"We told six lies" is a YA mystery and it's about a girl and a boy who fall in love, but it's not just it.
It's about love and loss, sadness and depression, hate and betrayals. Plus, it really focuses on lies and the consequences they might have on us and those around us. Lying might seem the simpler way to interact with people, to protect ourselves and to make things easier, but then it turns out it's just the worst thing we can do. Lying always bring bad things. I really liked the focus on this matter.
The character were well described and, especially from a psichological point of view, they were realistic and well written. It was easy to empathise with both Molly and Cobain. But also with other characters.
The novel in divided into 'then' and 'now' chapters and it's something that I found really smart. It's a way to keep you glue to the pages because it doesn't let you know everything right away.
Another thing that I loved about this book is that it was full of twists. Usually, when I read a thriller, I love to be surprised, even if I always try to figure out what happened or what's happening. I'm just too curious and I like to solve mysteries. So, when I arrive to the end of a book and I find out that my theory is wrong, I can't help but feel amazed. And the final of "We told six lies" amazed me. I was so sure of my theory that I dind't see the big twist coming. That left me speechless and brought me so much joy.
If you're a YA and mystery novels fan, then this book is definetely your cup of tea! It's captivating, appealing and original.

I am quite sad that I didn't like this more, as I have loved the author's previous books. Honestly, I just disliked all the characters so much that I didn't much care what happened to them? Like meh, send them to jail, kill 'em off, whatever. 🤷♀️
Things did pick up toward the last 20% or so, which was a bit of a saving grace, and is probably what is making me give it more than 1 star. And I am rounding up because... Idk, guess I am just feeling like being nice. Plus it was pretty quick, so that's a plus.

I have a confession to make. I almost DNFed this book about 20% in.
The plot didn't hook me from the beginning, and the mystery at hand only got me interested maybe 30% into the book. But I kept reading because of one, Victoria Scott wrote one of my favorite books of 2017 and I thought that the least I could do is give this one a chance, and two, I really enjoyed the writing style of this book and the jumping from one style to another depending on the chapter made it dynamic enough to keep it entertaining. Right now, I'm glad that I finished the book, cause it was better than I expected.
In my opinion, the writing style is the best part of this book. The plot is decent too, it's not very predictable, and it's well paced. I do take some issue with the characters, however, they all seemed to be deceiving and it wasn't exactly easy for me to rely on their statements or connect to any of them. I guess that that was kind of the point, but I think that is why it took me a while to get into this book.
I also have a bit of a problem with the ending. While I enjoyed that things got resolved positively, there were still a few questions left unanswered floating between the characters, which I feel like a single line here and there would've answered.
Besides all this, I did like the book. Victoria Scott writes in a style that I really enjoy reading, and the twist at the end was great. I think it's a decent YA thriller, and if you're interested in this genre, you should give this book a shot.

And that’s yours truly.
Molly is the new girl at Cobain’s school. He’s a loner and really doesn’t talk to anyone until one day when Molly looks at him and tells him he is the one. Cobain is completely and totally infatuated with her. Molly has a past that she’s hiding, covering with lies, and wants to get away from anything connected to it, including her overbearing mother. With Cobain promising to do anything he can to make it happen, Cobain and Molly make plans to run away together. But something happens, and all eyes are on Cobain.
I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. The chapters were different than any other book that I’ve read before. They were labeled Now, Then, and Molly. The story is told from Cobain’s point of view throughout most of the book so Now would be the present, Then was when he and Molly were together before she ran away, and Molly is from her present point of view. I found with it being written this way you got more of the story and the back story so nothing was left for you to wonder too much about. You can kind of see where the plot is going (or so you think) until you get closer to the end then you’re like WHAT?! (or at least that’s how I felt).
I really liked Cobain’s character and how the author portrayed him. He was a loner, yes, but he wasn’t the stereotypical YA novel loner. He chose not to talk to people because no one would give him a chance. They all thought he was a freak because of something they knew really nothing about. Which is what led them all to believe that he’s the one that did something to Molly even all he did was love her.
My feelings about Molly’s character went back and forth throughout the book, like situational feelings. One minute, I liked her, and the next I didn’t. Once I got more of a back story of her life, I understood a little more of why she was the way she was and the way she acted.
I absolutely loved this book (as you can tell by my rare 5-star rating). This was a great YA thriller. Like I said before, I really liked the writing style and the characters and would really like to read another book by this author. I would recommend this to anyone who loves YA books with a twist!

Ohhh I loved this book! I just read it in one day because I couldn't put it down. Cobain is the slightly 'weird' kid at school. He doesn't talk much, and tries to keep his head down and off everyone's radar, but then Molly arrives. She sees him and seems to see him differently to everyone else. He finds himself falling for her in a big way, but then suddenly Molly is gone. She's missing and the police keep asking him questions. He just wants everyone to stop asking him and find his girlfriend. But the more he talks to others about what they think happened, and the more he sorts through his own memories, the more he's not sure how well he knew Molly, or himself.
This book was dark and creepy, in that desperate, possessive way. There are time jumps and huge twists that I DID NOT see coming. I didn't even see them coming as they were unfolding in front of me. I literally turned to my husband and told him what the twist was, then realised THAT WASN'T EVEN IT. As the story starts to unfold in two different time frames (Then and Now), it slowly pieces together clues and information that lead to the big truth at the end. Honestly, I was so engrossed in this book, I was intensely reading it with wide eyes until I was done. I just had to know what happened! We Told Six Lies is one of the best YA thrillers I've read in a long time.

Thank god it's finally over. What sounded like a cool premise turned into nothing more than a nuisance. I could probably be nice and bump it up to 1.5 stars because, like I said, the synopsis is pretty killer but boy, this was bad. No wonder I couldn't find it in stores. Imagine I actually spent $20 on this thing? Yikes.
I'm not typically in the business of reading bad books and when I do, most of the time I can find at least one good thing to say about it. But I truly cannot find a single good thing to say about We Told Six Lies. The premise essentially promised me a thriller-mystery type where it seems like the girl that's gone missing is because of her boyfriend and I expected to be reading a story of how he did actually take her and what we'd be reading was his POV of why he took her, what he plans to do next, how he manipulates the suspicion off of him, etc. That would've been such a better story than the one that I got here. The plot here was just so chaotic and incoherent that I'm not even sure what the point was. Was it to show how "in love" these two characters were to the point where you had to believe he didn't do it? To prove they were meant to be together? To exploit those with mental illness to a degree that they can't be trusted? I don't know. I do know that whatever Victoria Scott did here was simply bad.
My biggest issue with this book, the lack of a good plot notwithstanding, is the chaotic and messy narrative structure. I don't care if you want to throw in multiple POVs into your book, and sometimes there are books that demand just that. But what I have a problem with is when you're not only creating multiple POVs but you're using literally all of the narrative tenses in various places in time when you really don't have to do that. There were a lot of "Now" and "Then" chapters, which I would've been fine with in a book like this because you need to know both the past and present to see the whole picture. But the "Now" was always in Cobain's first person narrative in the present tense while the "Then" played more into the second person narrative but still in Cobain's voice and it didn't make any sense. Why was he all of a sudden talking to Molly directly in the past but in the present it seemed he was more talking to the reader (or himself). And then we got "Molly" chapters which, you guessed it, were not in the same narrative style and all of a sudden we got her perspective in a third person POV. Sometimes I would look at this book and think "did the author just learn the three types of writing tenses and thought she had to use all of them at the same time?" I don't think that this kind of writing style is something you should do at all, let alone in YA. It was confusing and irritating, and above all it gave me a headache.
Honestly, none of these characters were likeable. Like, at all. The relationship between Molly and Cobain is beyond toxic and while they may think they're perfect together, they're not. Molly constantly manipulates him and he's like a lost little puppy following her around because she's the first person to give him positive attention. Every time I'd be with Cobain, I would mostly feel sorry for him. He's clearly socially inept and appears to be battling with some kind of mental illness throughout, though at the end it apparently is excused and forgotten, I'm not sure, and there's nothing about his character that lets you connect with him or feel anything for him but sorry. You're sorry that no one cares about him but sorry that he becomes grossly possessive and violent when it comes to the first person to give him attention. Molly is just the worst kind of people where she lies and manipulates and doesn't view people as actual humans but puppets on a string. Neither have likeable or redeemable qualities and their romance is too toxic for me to even want to touch upon.
The ending was frustrating, to say the least. I thought the twist of the person who took Molly turning out to be Cobain's brother was good, and I predicted it, but I hated that he became the villain because of his mental illness, which was never even stated or explored. It gave me the impression that people like Holt, the ones with mental illness, are just "funny" or "weird" and when they get into their moods that you stay away from them. That didn't sit right with me. And there was a line were Cobain said he wasn't afraid of his brother but he was afraid of his mental illness and I think that's beyond messed up. Were he treated properly and not left locked away, or abused as a kid because he has this illness, maybe he would've been ok. But the fact that Scott thinks this is what the norm is for dealing with people with mental illness is disgusting. YA books are to open the minds of young adults and teach them things but if this is what Scott thinks we need to teach young adults then she needs to reevaluate her status as a writer.
The biggest thing I'm mad about is how this book is called We Told Six Lies and it basically meant NOTHING. Sure, these two character lied a bunch, but six specific lies that were integral to the plot? I can't see it. Why bother titling your book this if it's something you're apparently going to leave to pull out of your ass at the last minute?
I guess the lesson learned from this book is to not read another thing by this author and probably look more closely at synopses in the future. This tile promised me so much structure, the synopsis promised a thrilling mystery and what I got was villanizing those with mental illness and an overwhelmingly toxic relationship. This is not a good story. These are not good characters. I don't typically say this in my review but trust me when I say, don't read this book.

Even though the synopsis seemed a bit vague, I was incredibly excited to read this book, because I really enjoyed the other book I read by this author, and the premise was pretty mysterious and I wanted to know what was going to happen and what the book was about, but overall I was so disappointed with the story and everything, and unfortunately for me it didn’t fulfill my expectations.
Starting with the things I enjoyed, I think the tone of the story was so fitting. It was very dark and the author did a great job at creating this sense of anticipation and dread to the reader, and I really enjoyed the feeling and chills it gave me when I was reading this novel, and the mystery, though it was pretty simple, kept me interesting and engrossed in the book and wanting to know what was going to happen next and how everything was going to end.
My main issue was regarding the characters. I didn’t like any of them. They were the type of characters that were pretty dull and simple but acted so edgy and brooding, and they kept contradicting themselves throughout the entire book. Their interactions were so forced and cringy, and I didn’t like their dynamics or inner monologues, and found that they shared no chemistry whatsoever, despite what the author was trying to tell us.
The plot twist and the big revelation made at the very end of the book was such a disappointed to me. I hate seeing that twist or trope in a mystery, and though it made sense once I thought about it, I feel the reader didn’t have a lot of information and it seemed very convenient.
Overall, though the concept was pretty interesting and I was so excited to read it, the characters weren’t my favorite and the big reveal at the end was pretty disappointing, so I didn’t really enjoyed the story, despite the mystery being pretty fun to follow.

Five stars and here’s why:
I loved it. This YA book nailed the twisted, thrilling story, and the issues teens face in today’s fast-paced world where it is hard to trust anyone let alone the people you love. Everyone has a motive, and that’s why I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. The characters border on unreliable and unlikeable in the first few chapters, but they are relatable, and honestly, that made the story quite refreshing. And thrilling. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. Total book hangover.
If you love an intriguing plot that explores what it truly means to love someone, then this book is for you. Highly recommend!

I loved it. This YA book nailed the twisted, thrilling story, and the issues teens face in today’s fast-paced world where it is hard to trust anyone let alone the people you love. Everyone has a motive, and that’s why I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. The characters border on unreliable and unlikeable in the first few chapters, but they are relatable, and honestly, that made the story quite refreshing. And thrilling. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. Total book hangover.
If you love an intriguing plot that explores what it truly means to love someone, then this book is for you. Highly recommend!

Well, this was a wild ride. I honestly expected something different from this story, I liked certain aspects such as the plot twist and the final chapters, which were quite solid. On the other hand the characters are very stereotyped and there's a lot of cliche going on in the relationships and the plot in general . It was an interesting book, although I wasn't surprised about it

The book is about this girl named Molly, she has just disappeared and now all eyes are on her recent boyfriend Cobein, as the main suspect. and the big question is what has really happened to Molly?, has she escaped from her complicated life? or someone kidnapped her?. Cobain will do anything to find out what has happened to his girlfriend, and meanwhile, many secrets will be revealed
You already know that I LOVE mystery and thrillers, this kind of genres, I usually enjoy a lot, with this book, in general, I feel that the plot is very unoriginal, it's something that I've read before and it's possibly something that we have all read at some point. It's about this girl with crazy personality and great beauty, who disappears a day without leaving a trace and suddenly the police suspects the most obvious person, her boyfriend. This could be something that doesn't bother me, but in this case I don't think there's much more than that happening. I feel like I'm unsure about this book and I feel a little "meh" about the plot, you know?
The characters were a big point of why I haven't been able to fully enjoy this book, I didn't like any of them . Let's start with Molly, she's unbearable, really. She's the typical beautiful and manipulative girl who always gets what she wants, and is so rebellious and strange. I think that's how the author want us to see her, to make us believe that she's deep and mysterious, but to me, her decisions don't make any sense, she's always saying weird things, her dialogues are very confusing . It's obvious that her past and her family story have impacted her a lot, but that doesn't explain 100% her erratic behavior. I end up thinking that she's simply a selfish person who only cares about herself.
Then we have Cobain, the typical mysterious guy, who always wears black and all that. Honestly, I hated him at first, he had such unfortunate phrases about other people bodies, and I thought "really?", OMG, it was a challenge to follow his chapters. Then there's his unhealthy obsession for Molly, they call it "love", but I don't think is that, I think their relationship is very sick. Cobain as a character grows quite towards the end, and after knowing more about his past and when the plot is revealed, then I managed to understand his personality a bit more, but even so, that relationship is a disaster. I hate this kind of romance when it's so obsessive and uncomfortable.
Molly's always playing with Cobain and his feelings and I think she's so cruel. In the end, I understand that the poor guy is getting a little crazy, since she hasn't stopped manipulating him and playing with his head for months, Uh, this makes me so upset
The book is told in a way that we jump in time between the "then" and the "now", and I really liked that, I think it's a very smart way to tell a mystery plot, it gives a very good touch, interesting and intriguing, because you're discovering things little by little and you can build theories of what's happening . I enjoyed more of the present chapters, and that's quite obvious since the past chapters were all about the relationship between Molly and Cobain, and although obviously it's super necessary, I don't like this couple so I it didn't care much. Anyway I want to emphasize that there are very good and atmospheric scenes that I enjoyed despite the characters.
In a moment,the plot touches a possible mental illness or trauma of Cobain's character, and that was very interesting for me , and see how it connects with the ending was very well done. Even so, I would have liked to have gone deeper into the subject, since I love seeing how minds work.
Despite having some problems with the book, it was very easy to read and I know that if you like the characters a little more than me, you can read it even faster. It flows very well, no doubt.
I really LOVED the final chapters, the story unravels in a fantastic way and I think those last chapters have everything that the whole book should have had. It has action, drama, surprises and is very intense. I know I said a lot of things that I didn't like, but I must emphasize this great part of the book, it's VERY GOOD and I liked it a lot. The ending, along with the plot twist, save the book from being bad book to being an average book. I think it can be a big shock to many who are reading it. Personally, I'd created various theories about what had happened with Molly, but the revelation was unexpected, and it left me very pleased.
I don't think this book is for everyone.If it's one of your first Thriller/Mystery books, and you're looking for something more contemporary or romantic, then, go for it, you'll be surprised. But keep in mind that it's romance heavy, and it's not a very good one. I don't believe that the characters are for everyone either, personally I LOVE the anti-hero characters, but these weren't for me, although maybe they work for you. So, if you decide to give it a chance it will not take you very long since it's fast paced and the chapters are very short, but consider the points we have talked about, because I think it could be a problem for you.

But don’t worry. I’ll find you. I just need to sift through the story of us to get to where you might be. I’ve got places to look, and a list of names.
The police have a list of names, too. See now? There’s another lie. There is only one person they’re really looking at, Molly.
And that’s yours truly.
Review : this book was fucking crazy and I loved it it's about a boy and girl who tell lies but then the girl goes missing. Its told in three POV then ,now and molly . We are to believe that molly ran away but Cobain doesn't believe that he believes she was taken and he has suspects. Molly was taken by a man who makes her call him blue he has a mask and she's trying to manipulate him to let her go . No one believes Cobain when they think she was taken not even his brother who is coming around more often than usual. In the then part we learn molly's dad con some people and got someone to kill himself and now hes in jail . I had some guesses on who took molly but I figured it out early on but I needed to know why. Cobain is finally taken in by the police they believe he took molly but he escapes and calls his brother then it hits him hes not there his brother holt died he killed him and it's just his mind playing tricks on him . He calls his mom and she explains he didn't kill him holt was unwell so they sent him away . Holt took molly I so guessed that Cobain was talking to himself . Holt had issues and his parents sent him away after he tired to hurt Cobain. Cobain finds molly and holt and so do the police . This book was so crazy I loved it

"We Told Six Lies" is an engaging YA thriller. Cobain is an 18-year-old loner- he doesn't have any friends, and he is OK with that. There were some events in his childhood that we slowly get information about that led him to be a body builder without any set program. His size tends to keep most people at bay. Molly is different- she wants to get closer to him. They have been dating for a while when Molly disappears.
Nothing seems to be adding up. The police keep questioning Cobain, but a letter is sent to her mother which implies that Molly left of her own free will. Cobain loves Molly and misses her constantly- he doesn't want the police to focus on him, because then they won't be finding Molly. He is unsure if she did run away- though the plan was to run together- or if something more sinister happened. Told in then and now perspectives, we slowly piece together the past and what is happening in the present. We later get more perspectives that paint a clearer picture- but we don't get the whole until the end.
In terms of thrillers, this was really engaging and kept me easily page-turning and nail-biting until the end. While I had predicted a few things, there were definitely twists and turns I did not see coming- and I love to be surprised like that. This book is a great twisty read that will suck you in from the get-go. I recommend for lovers of YA thrillers!

A relationship full of lies, enough to make your head spin. You were wild and I was mad for you in an instant. But now something has happened to you and you’re gone; but don’t worry, I have a listen of suspects and I will find you. The police think I have done something to terrible to you, and you made it easier for them to think so.
This book was addicting, I started it and was engrossed in the story and couldn’t help but whip through this novel. I loved the way the novel was laid out in past, present and hearing from both main characters ands their portrayal of their relationship. I found that I couldn’t help but to keep reading because each chapter was so short and left you off wondering what was going to happen next and who was behind the mask! I loved Cobain and how sure he was that something happened to Molly even at his age. I don’t read a lot of young adult fiction, but I really did enjoy this and found myself wondering how this was going to end for all the characters. I would definitely recommend if you enjoy young adult thrillers.

I honestly didn't know the truth as I read two POVs moving from past to present but weaving masterfully a web of secrets, lies, and romance. Victoria Scott knows how to keep you trapped in the insecurities of her characters, how they try to weave through the mysteries and comes out stronger despite how damaged they become.

A really engaging and fast paced read, I read it in a couple of hours as I was desperate to find out what was going on!
It’s part romance, part thriller and part mystery.
Cobain is a fascinating character and I loved seeing how his mind worked as everything around him started to unravel.
The differing narratives added an element of intrigue as I had my suspicions about who the kidnapper was but I couldn’t work out why that person would have done it!
The ending was a big shocker!

Welcome Back!
It's been a busy week for me. I have been trying to get back into the swing of things and force myself to get into a good schedule (sometimes getting up early is hard). But one thing I have been doing in the mornings when I get up is spending a little time with an audio book. I love audio books but I find listening to an audio book in the morning when I am getting up early, just helps to get me awake and moving. I can take my phone around the house with me as I am preparing for the day and still hear my book perfectly and by the time I am ready for the day, I have listened to between 20 minutes to an hour of the book! Recently, I was browsing Hoopla (I am using this app a ton lately, like even more than I was in the past) looking for an audio book to listen to for the following morning. I had just finished the audio book I was listening to and wanted something new (and perhaps mystery or thrillerish). That is when I found the audio book for We Told Six Lies!

Molly has gone missing. Molly and her boyfriend Cobain were planning to run away together but then Molly broke up with Cobain (and told basically everyone but maybe not Cobain). Then Molly goes missing! Of course, the police call Cobain in for questioning and he is super helpful, even providing them a list of people to look at who might have taken or hurt Molly. But could Cobain be the one who took her? Molly and Cobain have a complicated relationship and things went bad right before she went missing. As the police search for Molly, Cobain begins his own search, hoping she is still alive.
Listening to the audio book was amazing. The book switched between perspectives and times (we had a lot of now and then). It was super nice to have a narrator helping me to keep track of these timelines and I honestly think if I had just read the physical book things might have been a little confusing. I never saw/ guessed the ending for this book (I will not give away the twist but its a pretty good one)! Cobain was definitely an unreliable narrator but this was established early on making it easier for me as the reader to second guess things (and even suspect certain things and then be like wait that was totally not possible)! I really enjoyed my time with this book each morning and I look forward to picking up a new audio book soon!
