4.5stars!!!
This was such a wonderful read for me,truly no fault was found with either characters as they seemed to be the perfect match. The hero is amongst a group of 5 friends who made a pact in college to not marry, each for a different reason, and if anyone does go down the aisle, that person gives the other 1 million dollars each. The heroine is a very poor college student with a mountain of school debt who works as a barista at a local coffee bar.
There introduction to each other was interesting, he ran her down while he was distracted by his phone!!!!!!his Mother was in the hospital with a possible heart attack and he was in panic mode.
But this was not their first meet, she is actually the barista at the place where he gets his daily cup of coffee, seems like she is the only one who makes the best cup of coffee for him and has his order ready and waiting for him each day.He is the uber billionaire of a progressive tech company. He comes across as a grade A bastard, his employees even have a list of terrible names for him.The heroine also has some names for him.She wants him to notice her,but he never looks at her directly, everywhere else, but not at her.So when he runs her over with his Telsa, she is very much surprised that he does indeed know her name.He has some has very inappropriate thoughts about her too.
Here begins the beginning of their relationship as he feels very much responsible for her and insists on taking her to the hospital for a checkup, and when he finds out that she has no one to lookout for her during the night(she has a concussion)he takes her to his penthouse under much protests from the heroine where one night leads to many more and they begin a romantic relationship that leads to a fake engagement for his mother's benefit, an unplanned pregnancy, then hea.
These two were just adorable, they each had prior background baggage of loss of a parental loved one, grandmothers in both their cases which had a driving force in their lives for success and to become a success. The heroine is a struggling young virgin college student, and the hero a young billionaire who is developing a breakthrough in eyeglasses for people who are blind.
This was a low angst read with really minimal conflicts.I hope this is a series as there is one introduced character that I would love to read about.
Lovely epilogue with the couple ,friends and family,5 month baby bump ,at a beach in Jamaica for their warm destination wedding.

Back in college, five jaded friends made a pact that if any of them ever got married they would have to pay each friend a million dollars. They agreed it would make any of them think twice about getting married only to get divorced later.

The Penthouse Pact is Parker Braxton's story. The story starts out where he is rushing to the hospital because his mom has been admitted, when he literally hits Layla with his car. He knows Layla because she is the one that hands him his coffee every morning before work at Uncommon Ground coffee shop.

Parker is so stressed about his mom, he forces Layla into his car and takes her to the hospital to check her over for a concussion against her wishes. Layla is barely scraping by. She's trying to get her degree and work full time. She can't afford the hospital visit or to miss any work and classes. Too bad Parker doesn't give her a choice.

I loved this! It was a light, fun read and just what I needed! Parker pretty much kidnapped Layla and forced her to rest because he felt so guilty. While he was pretty forceful, I wouldn't say he was domineering. He just wanted to take care of her mostly because of the guilt he felt for hitting her with his car.

I loved Layla's character. She was a bit too independent but her resistance with Parker wasn't over the top or annoying. Their chemistry was spot on and the banter just added to the fun of the story. This is the type of book I wish I can find more of. I highly recommend it. ARC provided by NetGalley.

The Penthouse Pact by Cathryn Fox is the story of Parker Braxton and Layla Fallon.
Layla is a young college student working a full time job and trying to get by. Parker is a young rich business man who is hard nosed about everything. But when he anciently hits his car into Coffee Barista named Layla he start showing another side. Parker and his college buddies had made a pack never to marry and if the do they had to give each a large sum of money. Parker was so sure of himself but Layla is making him start to feel totally different. Layla isn't a yes person and isn't really impressed with his money....she just wants to work hard and get through college.
I really enjoyed seeing these two come together.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It was sweet, fresh, and very engaging. A truly sweet romance. It's well written and simple yet interesting read. It is the type of book where you grab a blanket, sit in your most comfortable chair just sit back and enjoy.
No heavy drama.
No Other women or men.
Just the two of them.
Happy that I got to read this beautiful book.

A nice and easy read with a "Cinderella" trope. Parker Braxton, billionaire extraordinaire, is a tough boss. Some would say an a-hole. One second of negligence and he hits the local barista, Layla Fallon with his fancy car. Layla is struggling to make ends meet and is working her backside off to get her degree. Parker insists on looking after her and so ensues the love/hate foreplay and chemistry between them. This was a quick read following the natural arc of a romance book. I'm looking forward to reading the other four books about the men who made that secret five million dollars pact.

The Penthouse Pact
Bachelor Pact #1
Cathryn Fox
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5 million reasons to stay a bachelor is a pact made by Parker and his Yale friends. Whoever marries must pay the others a million dollars each. That way they know it is worth it.
Parker hits Layla with his car and ends up taking her to the hospital and eventually back to his place so he can keep an eye on her.
Layla never wants to have to depend on a man to support herself. She is very independent and saw what her mother went through when her dad up and left them.
Both Parker and Layla have personal obstacles to overcome. But the biggest question is
Could Layla be worth 5 million??

Always love books by this author. She has a great writing style and great characters.

Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Parker Braxton is a confirmed bachelor. So confirmed he made a pact with his best friends that would cost him quite a bit he if he ever got married. With stakes so high, it's gonna take a really special person to breakdown those barriers of his! Cue, Layla Fallon <3 *happy sigh*

I must say, even tho the story-line was kinda predictable, it was still a lot of fun to read. Both Parker and Layla were very likeable. Nothing overly dramatic about the plot so a very good cozy afternoon read. The Penthouse Pact was sweet and endearing and full of heart! Fans of Cathryn Fox will not be disappointed with this sexy tale and if this is your first read by the author, you picked an excellent place to begin!!

Parker Braxton, a 29 year old President and owner of SKYWEB, America’s leading producer of computer software made a pact with his fellow collegues from Yale, that they will never get settled in the 'white picket fence' scenario...

And that actually works perfectly until one day he meets her, unassuming hardworking barista, Layla...in the most unlikey of ways...

And after that all bets are off...and unassuming ways slowly creeps up on them both, consuming them fully and completely...

This was sweet, sexy and light in a sorta fairytale like sense.😉

A cute and straight forward short read with an uncomplicated lovestory unfolding as the characters obviously fell in love at first sight or maybe first accident ;)
I had a lot of fun reading but if it weren't so rushed and the background of the characters wasn't so short, I might have given this 4 stars.

Fox delivers romantic couples needing each other to heal their haunted past. Parker Braxton is so wrapped up in business and his personal loss that he relates only to his cell phone. Layla is a struggling student working in a coffee shop. Their lives evolve when he hits her with his car. Quick cozy read from an author with a flair to bring characters off the page and into your heart. Making a deal with his best friends was supposed to keep Parker Braxton safe and never considering marriage, especially since if he loses, it would cost him millions. However, when he accidentally runs over Layla Fallon -- the woman that makes the perfect coffee -- he finds himself inviting her to stay at his apartment while she recuperates from the accident. Yet, the more time he spends with Layla, the more he finds himself doing the one thing he swore he'd never do -- wanting love, family and happiness with the right woman. Will he be able to convince Layla to give him a chance, or will Layla's need to protect herself make her walk away from the love and happiness she deserves?

I am a huge fan of this author, and I've got to say that this is one of the best starts to a series by Ms. Fox yet. Really, the pact Parker and his friends made is an interesting one and was one of the reasons this story was a total page turner for me because I couldn't wait to read more about it. However, in saying that, there were plenty of other reasons this story was so entertaining and that's because of the wonderful main characters that had plenty of electrifying chemistry, but get off to a rough start with what happens to Layla because of Parker.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as both have lost people they care about and it's tough for Parker to believe the best in people because everybody wants something from him due to him being rich. However, I liked that Parker was honorable and willing to do anything he could to help Layla through the tough times she suffers throughout this book with what happens to her in the beginning and then to keep her living with Parker. I also liked how confident and persuasive the hero could be to get his way because he wants to make certain the heroine is all right. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is how protective he was of the heroine, especially when what happened was affecting her personally when it came to her job. While the heroine, she's really independent and hates to have to rely on others, which is understandable because she doesn't trust easily. I also liked how Layla challenged the hero with her stubbornness. Really, she had me smiling at various times throughout this story.

Overall, Ms. Fox has delivered an utterly enthralling read in this book where I'm looking forward to more of this series and where the romance was hot and potent and had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after. The way this story ended had me loving how Parker was willing to fight for their future and I loved the way he went about it. It was sweet and adorable (words that wouldn't make the list) and had me crying happy tears. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up brilliantly, as Layla and Parker are so good together. I would recommend The Penthouse Pact by Cathryn Fox, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Naima Simone, Kira Archer, Miranda Liasson and Jenna Bayley-Burke.

Loved it! It was a fun read and it kept me entertained all throughout the book. When Parker hit Layla with his car, I did not expect for their relationship to take off after that. Parker at first offered to take care of Layla because he was worried that something might happen to her after her concussion and because he felt responsible for hitting her with his car but as he gets to know her better he realizes that the reason he wants her close has nothing to do with the accident. Parker and Layla might have their reasons for not wanting a relationship but as they get to know each other better and spend more time together they both realize how much they love each other. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read more of Cathryn Fox’s books.

I love a geeky billionaire with questionable social skills finally gets a chance with the woman of his dreams. This is exactly what I loved about The Penthouse Pact.

Parker has spent his life working at and running his IT empire. He's too busy to fall in love, too busy to have a life outside of work. Until he finally runs—literally—into Emmy.

Emmy's just trying to make it through the day. She's working too many hours, spending long hours studying, and there are just no hours left for romance. Until Parker and his ability to insinuate himself underneath her skin, into her life and into her heart.

I truly enjoyed the whole set up of this fun new series. I loved the premise behind the pact. Parker and Emmy were adorable together—they and their relationship really worked for me! I'm looking forward to more! ~ Missy, 4 stars

Layla and Parker were perfect together! Both so determined to make it on their own, not repeat the mistakes of the past they'd been exposed to, while falling harder and deeper for each other

It begins with a crash, specifically, Parker crashes his car into Layla. He knows her from his favourite coffee shop, and from there on in, the two of them are together. They both try to deny the attraction brewing between them, and once they finally give in, they deny it is more than it is

Reality catches them both, and once they accept what they have, what is going on with them, it gives our sweet and sexy love story the HEA it richly deserves!

Good

Cute. Someone compared it to Pretty Woman, and in one way it was, poor girl meets and falls for jaded rich guy. But Layla isn't a woman of the world, she is an innocent but scrappy young woman.
Their relationship was sweet, and I didn't even mind the tired trope.

Penthouse Pact is the first book in The Bachelor Pact series by Cathryn Fox.

Parker Braxton is a billionaire software developer and president of SKYWEB, America’s leading producer of computer software. While in the process of his daily rush, driving past his favorite coffee shop Uncommon Grounds, he accidentally runs his car into Layla
Fallon. As soon as the accident happens, Parker realizes that the knows the woman he just hit. It is the same woman that serves him his Grande Americano every morning at the coffee shop.

This is the last thing Layla needs. She is a struggling student, who is behind on her rent, has no medical insurance and now has one “Stuck-up-suit” guy hitting her with his car.
Parker realizes what he has done and when he sees that Layla is bleeding he insists on taking her to the hospital. To which she loudly and boldly protests. But Parker is persistent and insistent that Layla allow him to take care of her and have her seen at the hospital.

Layla has a concussion and once Parker realizes she has no friend coming to pick her up or to look after her for the next few days, he insists that she come and stay with him.
But he has never invited any woman to his penthouse. Let alone offering to have them stay. After several disagreements, stubborn Layla finally agrees to spend one night with Parker.

That one night turns into weeks when Parker takes her home only to find a main water line has broken in front of her apartment causing it to flood. With no option of anywhere else to go – she begrudgingly returns to Parker’s penthouse.

But Layla can’t afford to miss class, work or another rent payment. And Parker does everything in his power to step up and do the right thing. When she realizes that the guy she used to call Stuck-up-Suit genuinely wants to take care of her and make sure she is ok. She slowly begins to open up and trust in him.

Parker has no idea why his body betrays him every time he gets close to Layla; or why she has such an influence over him. But what he does know is that he has a pact with five men from his Yale secret society. You walk down the aisle, you pay each man one million dollars.

Paker Braxton is cocky, arrogant and extremely good looking. And while he comes off as quite stuffy and all business in the beginning – he begins to grow on you. The more he wants to take care of Layla, the more you begin to fall for him. He is sweet and genuine at heart. I loved how he began to become less business as his body began to betray him anytime he was near Layla.

Layla Fallon is one tough cookie. She has had a rough life and has been on her own for quite some time. She struggles to pay her rent, to pay for school. She struggles, yet she continues to move forward. When she realizes that she has not gone unnoticed by stuck up Parker and that just maybe he isn’t as rude and cocky as he comes off. She slowly begins to warm to him. And the fact that her body does one thing while her brain screams another, makes for a hot and steamy read.

I look forward to continuing this series. It was a fun and playful read and the author beautifully paints a world of words that makes you want to find out more.
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a hot, steamy quick read.

“Damn rebellious woman.
“I’m not—” She pushed the blankets off and threw her legs over the side. He jumped up from his chair. “Get back in that bed.”

Currently 5am, just finished my marathon of a reading, because of course I couldn't put it down. And I'm writing my review on this book because I didn't want to forget how it made me feel.

Home cooked meals, cuddling by the fire, arms sneaking through your lower back to keep you close. Sigh>.
There's something to be said about a story that's been written this way. I don't think that, in any shape, size or form, someone who hasn't felt that all encompassing love, could write about a relationship like this.

The way they treat each other, their need to be in contact, be there for each other, makes your heart warm. They are just so> GOOD to one another. Completely in tune to what the other is feeling, in such a soft but intense way at the same time.

I fell in love with how mundane their routines were. Him picking her up after classes, swinging her around after she aced a presentation. It all seemed SO real and natural. It makes you think, "what I would give to have that, or to have that again". To have someone who's proud of you everyday, standing in your corner, rooting for you to succeed in life. That's what we all want, right?

Fun fact about me? Usually sex scenes make my eye twitch. I don't know if it's because the authors usually think, "oh, let's add a sex scene here and another here to fill up their relationship". Or because something is so badly written you just can't help rolling your eyes. But with Parker and Layla, it felt like something that needed to happen. Because it became that moment where they got to tell each other everything they were feeling, without using words. Plus the description of those scenes wasn't tacky or obscenely unwarranted. Or maybe it was the fact that, as she was having her first time, it felt right. As far as first times go, that one goes in the books. They had both been fighting off their attraction for each other, and it was a moment of pure desire, that ended up becoming one hell of a romantic story.

I'm not sure if this had ever happened to me before, but as the 5 bachelors who claimed they would never get married, this book really makes you long for a partnership like that. Funny how a book can truly make you want for something. And that in itself, is a testament to how well written this book is.

And you know what? If I had to choose between 5 million dollars, and happiness that lasted a lifetime, there wouldn't really be a choice.

10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic story from Cathryn, I really loved this one. Parker Braxton, confirmed bachelor for life or pay each of his college buddies a cool mil each, some pact they made to keep them from getting screwed by women after their money. That made me laugh. Parker is Seattle's most eligible bachelor owner of a large software company and his employees have a long list of names for him. None of them kind or generous. His face stuck to his phone, he hits the same coffee shop everyday ordering his usual served up by the same girl, Layla. Layla works there and is in senior year of college and truly lives hand to mouth. Rent past due, no winter coat and worried about her final semesters tuition, she needs her job.
Rushing out the door with his face in his phone Brax has been called once again to the local ER for his mother. When he gets a text while driving, that once again his mother has indigestion he feels his car hit something. Cursing he jumps out and it's our lovely Layla. That's how we meet this wonderful character. Layla is hurt, aside from the obvious slight externals, she may likely have a concussion and he insists on taking her to the hospital. She fights him tooth and nail. He finally picks her up and physically puts her in his car, carting her off to the hospital. When she leaves without a place to go and he catches her he takes her home with him, much to her dismay. They do stop at her place to get a few things and while she's gathering a few pieces of clothing, she can hear him rifling through her cupboards. Which are basically bare.
Home they go to his oversized penthouse that is sterile and a real eye opener for her. He passes it off, saying he doesn't spend much time there. He tells her he's just keeping an eye on her overnight, which turns into a couple days, then a week and on we go.
This book has the best delicious slow burn and I loved it. When the fire ignites, it's smoking hot. Loved the characters and really liked Layla and Parker as she called him.
It's a fantastic read and go ahead because you'll miss out on a great story if you pass this by.

You can always be sure that Cathryn Fox will take a story and give you exactly what you want! This is one that was a joy to read! It was sexy, real, adorable, engaging, sweet..... I could go on and on! I loved how simple and easy the story flowed. Maybe that's because it was so well written?? In any case, it was an alluring read!

Parker Braxton, billionaire, literally drives into Layla Fallon, student and barista, taking her down. Parker wants to help her-and she refuses-multiple times. But Parker is insistent-it's the right thing to do. He didn't get to be where he was by not getting his way. So he doesn't give Layla any choice.

Layla is drowning in student debt. And now that she has to be off work, she's upset. She's not afraid of working hard. Not having anyone else to help, she's only ever been able to rely on herself. Should she let Parker help her?? It doesn't hurt that he's the hottest and surprisingly kind guys she's met!
But she can't take advantage can she?? Parker sees she won't take his charity, so he starts bargaining for her services. He will pay her overdue rent and she cooks him meals for a week. And other bargains like that. Layla feels she's paying off the debt, and Parker doesn't get to see her leave him anytime soon!

I loved the way this story unfolded! It had a nice flow. There wasn't any huge angst, side plot, or outside influence which was totally refreshing! So many times there is some needless side story thrown in that does nothing for the main story. I enjoyed this centering on these two alone and only these two. I felt more endeared to them and vested in their future! Their love unfolding was beautiful to watch happen!

Parker Braxton doesn't do love, he's so determined not to that he actually made a pact with his friends that holds him to it; if at some point he decides to break the pact he has to pay up, and he isn't about to hand over his millions to his friends. But, sometimes love knows no bounds or abides by unwritten rules and he finds that to be true when he literally runs into the woman of his dreams. After running into her he insists on taking care of her at his penthouse, and little by little she manages to sneak right under his "no love radar" and makes a place in his heart.

When Layla Fallon is hit by sexy businessman Parker Braxton she is left completely rattled, so many times she has seen him at the coffee shop and so many times she thought he was somewhat of a jerk, but now he is being so caring and sweet and it takes her by surprise. Not only does he actually know who she is, but he is also insistent on caring for her after the accident, and all she wants to do is get back to school and keep herself on track, but he isn't having it. She soon finds herself at his mercy, and momentarily living at his swanky penthouse so he can ensure she is healing safely, and just as soon as she moves in, do the sparks start to swirl around them.

The Penthouse Pact is a sweet and sexy tale that will have romance readers hearts rejoicing! The moment you meet these two you will be taken with them and their uniquely crafted story, it's a feel good romance brimming with loads of heart and heat!! I thoroughly enjoyed this newest offering from Ms. Fox, it had me smiling and swooning throughout, and left my heart happy!

It’s not exactly a Pretty Woman kind of story, although it has strong Cinderella vibes where poor girl met a rich, handsome man. I don’t have problem with that (the heroine on the lower social level than the hero, well... okay. Fine). In fact, the back and forth between Layla and Parker were quite amusing to follow as - low on the totem she might be - this heroine had grit on her! And I love that about this story.

That said, the first on page encounter between them didn’t really convey the suppressed attraction Layla and Parker supposed to feel about each other. True, later on through each MC’s voice - and confession to one another - it’s ascertained that both were actually drawn to the other since the moment they met. That due to that attraction they developed instant contentment while together, and had curmudgeon at office Parker decide to work from home and spend money left and right just because... didn’t feel real to me.

As The Penthouse Pact is the first entry to “The Bachelor Pact” series, I was hoping for a bit more background stories of the bachelor involved than shown here. Besides, it irked me how Parker thinking so ill of her mother and the way she was portrayed in this book (when in fact, there’s real love between his parents). I mean, he didn’t know all the fact! He just assumed!! Frankly, it felt that background was fabricated to justify his view of women.

To conclude, I think The Penthouse Pact is a more than okay start to the series. Though I might take a wait-and-see stance on what the next installment would bring.
