He’s hiding inner demons that drove him away from town. She’s sworn off bad boys. Their passion erupts while trapped in a snow storm, but will she ever see him again?

Dr. John “Butch” Daniels climbed on his bike and sped out of Oak Grove several months ago with demons on his tail. He’s ready to come home and pick back up where his life left off, but have the demons left him behind? A blizzard has him stuck in what used to be his favorite motorcycle club, and the sweet and spunky bartender is getting under his leather-clad skin.

Carla Daniels is a loner, not able to hold on to the ones she loves. She’s sworn off bad-boys after a recent ex dumped her in Oak Grove. The owner of motorcycle club turned bar and grill offers her a lifeline in the form of a job and place to live. Her life is turning around. But there’s something about the bearded stranger who turns up late one night while a snowstorm rages outside.

When passion flares, the two are forced to confront their darkest fears: Does Carla dare to trust a reckless biker with her heart? Can Butch risk caring for someone when life has no guarantees? This might be their Last Call for love.

Thanks for visiting my profile. I'm a new Contemporary Romance author and I'm so excited about the possibilities. I've been falling in love with characters in books for a long time, and even more so now that they are speaking through me for other readers.

I've been remiss in updating my shelves but I'll be doing that soon, so check out some of my favorite reads, including some that I've read over and over because, yeah, they're just that good.

I'd love it if you'd add my books to your TBR shelf. If you want to find out more about me, click over to my website: http://www.nancystopper.com

Last Call by Nancy Stopper is a companion novella to the contemporary romance Oak Grove series. Carla Daniels is working as a bartender in a local bar when John “Butch” Daniels comes in after returning to town. Carla has sworn off bikers after her ex treated her bad so she is wary of the new guy until she finds he didn't admit to the truth, that he is really doctor. This one is just one of those that didn't seem to be for me from the start, just couldn't find myself really caring about this couple when reading and was thankful it was a short read.

Having read the official first book of the Oak Grove Series, I decided to go back and read the prequel, Last Call. Now I'm wishing I didn't, because this novella was the epitome of what I don't like about instalove stories.

For starters, I had a hard time feeling anything for either of these characters. They both had fairly sympathetic histories and the resulting damaged baggage. But none of it was developed well at all, which made it hard to care much about them. Sometimes I can buy the "love at first sight" thing, but this time I just didn't. Maybe I'm in a mood, but there were way too many things that rubbed me wrong. The whole "how could he make love to me and then leave me without saying anything"? Gag me. YOU JUST MET HIM!!!

And this author continues to be repetitive in her writing. Several chapters began with a paragraph recapping what just happened - an internal dialogue of the character. Seriously, it's a short book, I don't need a reminder about what's going on.

If there's one thing I really dislike about heroines, it's when the hero behaves badly (like leaving in the middle of the night) but is then forgiven quickly with an "I'm sorry" and not much else. Actions speak louder than words, people!

I'm being really harsh about this book. I'm not sure why, other than I just had a bunch of problems with it. There wasn't anything so ridiculous that caused me to put it down before finishing, but it does have me reconsidering whether or not I want to read the rest of the books in this series because apparently this prequel was written after books one, two and three were written. In my review for One Last Risk I said that the book started out very wobbly for me, but the last 30% had me thinking that maybe the author could write a tighter, cleaner story. Now I'm concerned that maybe she can't, because this book really wasn't that good...

This was a very good book. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I would have liked less of the steamy sex parts as my imagination could have probably figured a lot of that out with having to read every minute of it. The best part of the book was the storyline. It was about a woman Carla who has never been able to count on anyone. Her father left before she was even born. Her Mother didn't pay her much attention was more interested in trying to find a man. The idea about the Mother is that she felt her daughter got in the way of her finding a man. Since being on her own most of the men she has know have been nothing more than one night stands. She has found a job and has been given apartment in the same building by two men who consider and treat her as family.

Butch Daniels is an Emergency Room doctor who has had a traumatic experience loosing young girl that been brought into the ER. He does everything he can but looses her. The parents especially the Mother holds him accountable. After all the parents of the young girl are overcome at the loss of their only child. However the revue board determines that he did all he could and clears him. As a result of his experience he heads out on his motorcycle and tours and photographs the south. He returns to find his Motorcycle club has been turned into a bar and grill.

Butch meets Carla and there is a connection. He ends up going to bed with her but then leaves before she wakes. He thinks no one will want him after what he is done. However he can't stop thinking of Carla. Carla can't stop thinking of him.

They finally give each other a change and they find forgiveness and acceptance in each other and with that comes Love.

And that is what makes the book great not the explicit sex scenes in the book. I think the book would be just as good without all of that.

The biker dude is actually a doctor? I’m sorry, but I find that less plausible than some of the shifter romances I’ve been reading lately. Also, the facial hair is a turn off.

Also, she cut herself so bad that she needed to have a transfusion and stitches in the ER, told to rest from her job for a few days then goes on to eat supper with her doctor and then have vigorous sex with him right after? If they had at least snuggled over night and waited for vigorous sex after they had both slept, I’d be more likely to think he was a good doctor. Also, please don’t bring up dead children in the middle of a sex scene. Kind of kills the mood!

A sweet romance of love and hope!

Last Call is a sweet and charming love story. It is an inspiring story full of romance, passion and emotion. No matter how good of a job you do or how hard you try to do your best, sometimes it just can’t change the outcome. Sadly, there are bad things that happen to good people but the trials and pains can create a stronger person within. With the help of Carla, Butch starts to unravel the past and starts to heal from what he sees as his fault. The love and understanding of a woman will help Butch to resolve his past while the persistence and love of a man will help Carla to open her heart to love.

The characters are entertaining and well developed. The story line is fresh and moves along at a good pace. This is a sweet and delightful story that will captivate you and keep your attention from the beginning to the end. This story hooked me from the very start and I could not put it down. So many emotions put together in one book that causes an emotional overload. You will finish this book with faith and hope in love no matter what pain and loss you might have experienced in the past. Sometimes the person meant for you will walk through the door and sweep you off your feet when you least expect it.

I have read several books by Nancy Stopper and this one was certainly as good as the others. Nancy Stopper has become one of my go-to authors. I am never disappointed when I pick up a book she has wrote. Nancy Stopper does a great job on each aspect in all of her books. She really seems to do a great job at the research behind it to give the book a realistic feel that keeps you connected to the characters. The Oak Grove series has been a great series to read. I recommend this book (and the series) to anyone that enjoys sweet and passionate romance stories.

Fun and entertaining new series.

Carla Rogers boyfriend dumped her after they moved to Oak Grove. Thankfully, she has found new friends and people she considers family. But past experiences remind her that those she thought she could trust, leave her. Especially the bad boys she's drawn to. So when a strange motorcycle rider walks into JJ's one blustery, winter day she can hardly handle the instant connection between them. She quickly realizes it isn't so easy to ignore the draw to this mysterious stranger.

Butch only dropped in to the bar to see if any of his old gang was around but instead found the bar had changed owners, become a bar and grill, and they had the most stunning bartender he'd ever seen. When the storm takes a sudden turn for the worse Butch finds himself stranded there and things between Butch and Carla heat up quickly.

But when Carla wakes up the next morning she realizes nothing has changed. Bad boys will always be bad boys, and everyone leaves.

With both Butch and Carla having pasts that haunt them, will the two be able to learn to trust again.

This is really a prequel to the Oak Grove Series . Two damaged souls meet up during a snowstorm. Butch is a emergency room Dr who has been on a leave of absence following a tragedy and Carla is recovering from an ex who dumped her in Oak Grove. The motorcycle bar, the Last Call is under new ownership and the new owners hired Carla and gave her a place to live above the bar. Butch arrives back at Oak Grove and heads to the Last Call and is amazed that it is under new ownership. When the snowstorm strands him at the bar, Carla agrees to let him crash on her sofa. Their attraction was instant and their chemistry was strong. No spoiler here, but it was a great book. Can they repair their hearts and begin a relationship? Great start to a series. Well written with characters you will enjoy.

I have read several of the other books in this series and really enjoyed them. This book I was a little disappointed in because I felt I was only reading about their sex life. There wasn’t a lot of storyline in it and yet there could have been. The story was about Carla and how she had a horrible early years and felt people and men always left her The Butch had his own demons that he was trying to run away from. When the two met sparks were felt and the first night they are in bed already. The story tells a little about the two of them and working out their demons and trying to establish a relationship.

I will continue to read the books in their series and hope that there will be more of a story and not just a sex guide.

A deeply passionate, true to life story. Two lost souls that find each other and come together for the better. Carla vows to stay unattached and not fall for the first thing in pants to come along. Butch, a long haired motorcycle club guy vows to stay detached from everything and everyone that he may or may not hurt. A few pieces of his life were not revealed, but his true compassionate self is revealed, Carla falls for him against her better judgement. Butch realizes that he sees things I her that he does not want to let go. As in real life, sometimes move faster than you are comfortable, and dont always go as planned. I really liked this book, and I cant wait to read, the rest in the series.

Nancy Stopper writes in the romances genre. Last Call: A Small-Town Romance (Oak Grove... fits nicely in this genre. It's well written. There is sexual tension throughout the book. The reader is being asked, "What is keeping Butch and Carla apart? They have a strong attraction for each other. Last Call is a great read, and I recommend it.
Butch and Carla first fell in love during a snow storm. As the blizzard gets worse, their love heats up during the night.
The next day he's gone. Both Carla and Butch have a secret. Will love prevail for the pair or will their secrets separate the two?

Great read, wish it was longer!

This was my first read from this author but now I want to continue the series! I like the authors writing style. In a short story, she managed to give the characters life and get you invested in this cute but hot love story. I didn't feel that I missed anything and it wasn't an Insta-love thing but more of an instant connection. Other characters were introduced to continue the series but it didn't take anything away from Butch or Carla, just made me want to get the next book ASAP! Although I do hope to see more of Burch and Carla in the following books. I would absolutely recommend this as a quick but engaging read.

I received a free/purchased copy of the Oak Grove Prequel Last Call by Nancy Stopper and this review was given freely.
Two individuals both with broken pasts meet for the first time in Oak Grove, Pennsylvania where they find healing in each other. The short story of motorcycle club member/Doctor Butch and former motorcycle mama Carla is a quickly escalating love at first sight erotic romance. The characters are complex, interesting and portray the concept of a strong protective love provided by a family by design rather than by a family by birth.

I really enjoyed "Last Call" by Nancy Stopper. This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be my last. This is a prequel novella to the Oak Grove series and it really set up the series and got me hooked on all the characters to come in future books. I can't wait to slowly uncover each one with every new book. I would defineatley recommend this series to fans of the contemporary romance genre.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

Being a prequel, a story sometimes reads a little on the weak side. The author has tried to cram a lot of story into a limited amount of pages—and to me, it just didn’t work. The storyline is sketchy; the characters are not developed; and the whole insta-love thing falls short of the mark. Even the HEA felt incomplete. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was disappointed.)

Prequel novella to the Oak Grove series. A rather predictable but fun short story! If you enjoy small town sizzling romance, you will enjoy this and it will make you want to read the series. They're all stand-alone complete stories with HEA's. Definitely will read the next in this series - this is a good start!

I received a free copy in return for an honest review - this is my honest opinion.

I love the Oak Grove series. Somehow I had read the other books but missed this one and found it on Amazon. Carla had grown up in a not-so-happy place. Butch had his own demons. With a chance meeting on a snowy night proves that everyone deserves their happy ever after. Short story that introduces you so some of the characters in the next stories. Awesome!

I love a Love at First Site story or at least an attraction at first sight story. Carla has baggage, so no more bad boys. Butch comes in in leather covered with patches, but Carla can't help liking this gorgeous guy that doesn't talk like your normal biker. And Carla soothes Butch's troubled soul.

This short sweet read feels like a much bigger story. I love the characters and their story.

Too Steamy- Not Enough Meat On The Bone
Could have been a good story but there was too much graphic sex. Some stories are good enough to just skip over the smut, but this is not one of them. I probably skipped over half of the book and this is a very short book.

It was a great prequel to the series, only found out it existed after I read the first of the series, so I knew a couple of the characters already, it was a great read, so glad it didn't have many chapters as I could not put it down.
