A Year in the Borderlands writer Kevin Candela's wild second excursion into alternate realities includes seventeen tales, twelve of which have appeared in previously released anthologies and are collected here for the first time. These short stories combine with five never before released works, including the novella It's Only Funny if You Laugh, to produce a wide-ranging panoramic view of the worlds and realities that exist beyond our own. From earnest tributes to the works of Lewis Carroll and H.P. Lovecraft to giant monster rumbles, from ruminations on the roots of lycanthropy to creepy gunfighters taking on a town full of undead to a pond that eats anyone who dares swim in it, Playing With Reality is another vividly detailed page in the Atlas of the Unknown.
This was my first experience with Kevin Candela's work, and it was interesting. There were 17 short stories included in this one audiobook. I really enjoyed some of the short stories, but some of them I didn't like, and some of them were just mediocre. Having stated that, my interest was piqued, and I will look into more of his work. Josh Banks' narration was entertaining, and his performance kept my attention. I requested a free copy of the audiobook from Free Audiobook Codes, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
The author Kevin Candela is known for his incredible science fiction and fantasy books, this one is a collection of seventeen short ones and only adds to his beautiful collection.
Narration by Josh Banks perfectly for each of the characters in this book.
