Cute and fun. I still hate the redesign of the chipmunks (they just look like uncanny-valley kids), but that's not the book's fault.
I didn't feel at all like I was missing anything by not having seen the TV show.
The story itself was nice - a bit on the predictable side, but still told in a fun way. I liked the running gag of Dave being a terrible storyteller.

It made it seem like all kids care about now is video games, but I can understand that. I liked the "Leaf-Man" part towards the end!

This was a good book, very funny too.
