Putting the Pieces Back Together Step I Do Love Myself Step I Know What I Want Step My Family Is Still Whole Step I Can Choose Who I Am Four simple steps. A world of truth. At last, a source of compassion and support for divorced mothers facing the realities of raising children when their lives are at their most vulnerable and their self-images at their most fragile. Filled with more than a book on coping -- it is a source of understanding, encouragement, and strength that will help single women to nurture their children, resurrect their spirits, and create the life they want.
Compassionate, realistic, and humble, Ellison doesn't give and "rules" she thinks a person should follow, but simply details her story, that of other divorced mothers in a variety of situations, and gives the reader the freedom to take or leave her advice as applicable.
More of an encouraging book to women who may feel that they are the only ones going through an emotional tornado after a separation or divorce rather than self-help. The author has been through the maelstrom and shares all her guilt, hurt, relief, frustration, and doubt of the process to the final acceptance of the courage and passion that finally allows her to obtain balance in her life and to move forward to a life she desires.
This book is well written and gives the reader a lot to think about. It was a great help to grieve the loss of my relationship and to know that I am a great single mom. It teaches to not be afraid to reach out for help and that life won't always be a struggle. Very inspirational.
