It’s tough being a single dad, even tougher when you have to try and explain to your daughter why her mom abandoned her.
I mean, what can I say? Your mom ran off with my best friend because she’s selfish? We loved her, but it wasn’t enough?
Damn, it’s been hard. I’m trying my best to keep myself sane and protect my little girl.
Sure, I’ve slept around here and there since then. You know, showed women my extensive talents in bed, but it’s all been one-night stands. Nothing serious. Nothing real.
Then Alissa came and messed all that up. She’s a woman I shouldn’t want.
Sure, she’s beautiful and sweeter than my ex-wife ever could be, but she’s also my stepsister. The last thing I need to do is introduce more complicated crap into my life.
But I can’t get her out of mind. I feel a connection, and maybe, she’s just what I need. Or maybe she’s just what I want.
Ryan has been divorced from his wife Christine who cheated on him with his best friend. When she left ryan she left her daughter Kayla as well. So when ryan is stuck working one weekend he needs a babysitter, so he calls his newly step sister Alissa. Alissa has a thing for Ryan but doesn't want to hurt Kayla's feelings. So they start dating secretly. Can these two keep it up or will Kayla be accepting to Alissa? Great read couldn't put down till finished. This book includes six extra stories. The first extra book is called Executive with Noah and Jess. The second extra book is called Expertise with James and Gabrielle. The third extra book is called Excessive with Hunter and Kylie. The fourth extra book is called The Single Dad with Blake and Emily. The fifth extra book is called Extreme with Justin and Anna. The last extra book is called The Job with Eric and Jessica.
Divorce is a fact of many families lives, but the impact on the children of the shattered family, is hard to measure. It can be debilitating in both the early years and also , later in life, in the context of other relationships, not being as successful, due to a lack of trust.
This book is one that covers the torment of the whole family, as well as partners that are connected after the divorce is finalized. I found it brilliant in the simple fact of showing the deliemmas, that adults are faced with.
To me, I believe this is something you people should read (perhaps removing the explicit sexually encounters ) and then discuss to allow them to see the possibilities this scenario has thrown up.
Ryan is struggling with raising his daughter on his own and bouncing back from his divorce. Alissa can't help her attraction to her stepbrother. Neither can stop the feelings. Will Ryan choose Alissa or his ex? Will Alissa finally find the love she always dreamed of?
Overall I absolutely loved this book. As a parent, I understood Ryan's need to protect and make his daughter happy, so I was extremely happy to see a character who was like that. I did want to shout at Alissa a few times to fight for her man, but in the end she did just that. Good read!

I would give this book 4,5 stars. This is a well written book about family, friends, love and desires. It is a suspenceful romance that pulled me in from the first page. It is a standalone book with no cliffhangers. I voluntairly read an ARC of this book.
As I am an avid reader, I didn't mind reading some of these stories for the second time. I guess I just appreciate the author's writing and totally loved the last story.
