The debut novel from Chris Roberts, The Long, Lost Exit Home, is a new addition to the great horror sci-fi traditions of Stephen King and Dean Koontz.
“The reader encounters pulse pounding, unspeakable razor slashing horror in this terrifying thriller about the invasion of ferocious giant creatures that leaves you with a hair-raising ending of delicious surprise! Where fantasy meets hard core reality, the intriguing sub plot is woven into the story in such a way as to draw the reader far deeper into the story—not allowing your captivation to be broken. You feel compelled to continue to read and to savor each twist that the author delivers with each passing page. The climactic ending is riveting, I voraciously devoured each chapter and awaited what would happen in the next…” —Nostalgic Productions
“The entire story is terrifying and will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to turn the page to see what is going to happen next. There is forbidden love, killings and a terrifying future for those who survive. For anybody who is into horror movies or stories like ‘Alien vs Predator’ or ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, I would recommend this to you because it is quite graphic as such. There are many twists and turns throughout the entire book and you will be left wide eyed and shocked. The book was well put together and the author obviously has a knack for this genre of stories. The author is quite talented and has a way of making you SEE exactly what is going on in the story and being able to picture it in your head and not just putting words on a page. Well done…” —Big McGaffer
“If you want a non-stop thrill ride that will make your heart race you should try ‘The Long, Lost Exit Home’, a gripping piece by Chris Roberts. Be forewarned, this is not your average sci-fi horror novel! The main character Laura Masterson has come from a life full of its own dark horror in the form of substance abuse. Her life only gets more complicated from there. Roberts describes, in vivid detail, scenes of graphic violence, sadistic murder, revenge, and forbidden love. I haven't even mentioned the alien monster sea creatures yet. Yes, that's right, there are even alien monster sea creatures who invade the quiet town of Sealand set on the coast of California. While this story will push boundaries with even the most experienced horror fan, it is in my opinion a fantastic read! I will definitely be on the lookout for another adrenaline pumping thrill ride from Chris Roberts!...” —Fore 20 (Just a taste of written reviews by the readers.)
Synopsis: When people begin to disappear in a California coastal town, where a series of gruesome murders and the most unimaginable events take place, a visiting nineteen-year-old heroin addict, Laura Masterson, becomes embroiled in a dark conspiracy of parasitic aliens and biological monstrosities.
While she searches for her father, one of the many missing, she stumbles upon the discovery of an unstoppable invasion of ferocious subterranean creatures that emerge from the sea at nightfall to prey upon the local waterfront populace.
Finding help from a rebellious, street wise juvenile, both Laura—who encounters an obsessive intimate romance from a past high school heartthrob—and her girlfriend, team up in order to escape a serial killer and uncover a connection to the murders that may involve others willing to kill to keep the killer’s identity hidden. If they survive, they may face a future more horrific than death.
“When night falls, and you’re fast asleep— The sea will unleash nightmares, that will come to feast!”

I was drawn in from the very start, and the pages seemed to turn on their own as the lead character, Laura Masterson, faces off against unbeatable odds full of graphic violence, revenge and forbidden love. It shows the underbelly of a California town beset by a sadistic murderer, horrible monsters and creepy aliens, which always makes for a great read in my opinion.
I tend to reserve one star reviews for those books that are corrupted files and altogether un readable. This work is readable but I wish that I hadn't. I received it as a free Kindle book and could not wait to delete this waste of pixels. The author tries too hard to be cute, and fails to be in anyway convincing.
Chris Roberts is on my do not download at any price list.
Crazy, outlandish things don’t seem to occur often, or ever, but there’s always that possibility for something mind-blowing to happen. In “Long, Lost Exit Home”, author Chris Roberts demonstrates a level of imagination that can lead his readers to believe an occurrence of unusual activities could be not as far-fetched as one might think. Well-written and descriptive are what describes the author’s writing style, it reels your attention and sparks your curiosity to find out what happens next. There’s one character in particular that stood out to me the most, Laura Masterson, who helps protect a young teenage girl even though she put her own life in danger. Some type of care for a fellow human is very rare in today’s world, it was nice to witness something like that occurring within the book. I enjoyed this book from the out of this world creatures to learning what the characters were experiencing first-hand from their perspectives. I recommend this book to everyone looking for a skin-crawling thriller reading experience, you won’t be disappointed.
The Long Lost Exit Home by Chris Roberts is 402 pages long. The story begins with headlines describing a massive earthquake. Also reported is a crazed serial killer that is mutilating females. The point in the story the point of view changes to a woman hooking up with a man as she is listening to the news report about the serial killer she is being killed by the serial killer. That was a truly spooky scene in this book. Then all of a sudden a sewer worker is being killed by an alien, yes from outer space alien in the sewer line when he is checking for damage from the earthquake. Chris Roberts leaves you on the seat of your pants wondering where he is taking you on this wild ride plot. The research and imagination that Chris Roberts shows in his story left me very impressed. Each of his characters brings a unique perspective to the overall plot and the way he ties it altogether surprised me.
At times I did find Chris could be over detailed which slowed down the plot is some places, that could take away from the overall story. I found this more in the first few chapters not so much in the later chapters. This book will introduce you to a wider range of emotions introducing you just not just horror, sci-fi but also death destruction, addiction, and sexual violence. It engages you and you have to finish this story.
I can read almost anything. This book defeated me. Poorly written, improper word usage, vapid characters. Also, the author tried too hard to show off his vocabulary and it just gave the book an awkward feel. The initial description of the monster was way overblown - actually too much detail so it just became a jumble instead of painting a picture.
If you love RAW , POWERFUL HORROR then this is the book for you Laura goes home to see her dad and encounter 's horror that is unimaginable. You will think you are are reading an early KING BOOK. I AM NO SCi-fi fan but the author could change that. I RECOMMEND
There was just too much wrong with this book. The changes from past to present tense , the lack of continuity , the story itself seemed confused. I have never given a 1 star review before , sorry I had to give this book one.
This book has bizarre stories. Alien attacks, a serial killer targeting women, horror, adventure, name it. Some parts of the book were too thrilling, others too queer for my liking.
