The beauty of this book (ie. the author) is that it very BLUNTLY tells something that needs to be taught but somehow isn't. I won't say that it can greatly help reduce social awkwardness, but it is a definite go-to book for those who do care about etiquettes and manners or want to improve their first impressions.
Okay, can I start by saying I want to gift this book to so many people right now! 🙂 Manners and etiquettes are delicate subjects that one must learn and possess. Can we take a moment to appreciate Author Rukshana Eisa who has put time and effort into this book, so you and I can learn a thing or two! There are certain ‘social rules’ that need to be followed in certain places. You will be glad to know that the topics almost cover all the aspects required for your social success.
Many of us are socially awkward! And, there should not be any shame to admit that. However, learning social skills and aptly using your language to establish your presence is something which we all need to learn. From simple things like handing your business card, acing a job interview, dressing up for several formal occasions to a few complex things like starting a conversation with someone new, the book has covered it all. Some of the interesting chapters include Tricky social situations, getting over that oops moment, how to be a savvy traveler, socializing with business colleagues, restaurant etiquettes, fine dining and more! This is the first book I’ve come across of its kind. The book touches all the aspects that we come across in our daily lives demanding etiquette. After reading few pages I felt what else could be there more? But diving deep as we go through pages. I personally feel need for a few images here and there so people needn’t browse through web at aspects like fine dining. As this book is Indian author written I feel the need for her to include a few more chapters if possible regarding various Indian cultures like Hindu traditions and customs, and as well as of Sikh, Muslim, Christian traditions and customs does and don’ts. We are less exposed to other customs though we live together so including those will promote understanding of others, leading to more harmony.
