Deep in the mountains of Northern Arizona, upstanding Dalton Baxter is in trouble. The life he’s carved out for himself and his family teeters on the precipice of disaster, threatening to shatter their hearts into lethal shards that will pierce and wound everyone he loves. His lies are unraveling, his public image crumbling, and his private life . . . his oh, so secret private life, is inching toward the light. How did he backslide into a criminal world where trust is a scarce commodity and cover-ups a deadly reality? And how can he ever make things right without losing those who mean the most to him? Plunged into the darkness of his soul, is it even possible to find grace in the shadows?
But as the Lord surpasses all understanding, so do the answers Dalton manages to assemble, like pieces of a stained glass window. Can an EMP that darkens the Earth give him a second chance? If he crawls out of his darkness, can he lead his family and friends from theirs?
He will need God’s strength and his community’s mercy . . . to find grace in the shadows.
I received this book via a goodreads giveaway. It is a Christian fiction which I normally stray from. I must admit, while this book had a great deal of what keeps me from Christian fiction, it also had a plot and a great protagonist and antagonist. It was much more than the typical ‘faith can move a mountain’ story.
What happens when a Minister falls to his lowest? Will his family, friends and Church members have enough faith to pull him from the shadows of hell? Will this Minister be the tower of strength for a family who is about to watch their young daughter succumb to a diseased body or will he rip their family apart like he has his own?
What about the coronal mass ejection that is headed towards earth, threatening to destroy life as we know it? Can a small rural community take heed and survive all of the devastation that is about to fall upon them?
I would love to see another book with the town’s population handling the CME!
This book captured my heart. It is a must read for people going through a difficult time and think that God is not there for them. Then the world turns dark and desperate. People truly look for God when things go wrong but take him for granted when everything flows right in life. Why only seek him in our darkest hour? Just read book.
Excellent story that was very well written. I could hardly put it down! I love the scripture application so carefully entwined between the story lines. I truly felt the emotions through this entire book! Completely drew me in and also brought with it the scriptures convicting power. Will definitely be looking for more of this authors work!
I really enjoyed reading this book!! Grace in The Shadows was a blessing Karon said she was a new author and I want to let everyone know what a deep and graceful author she is!
