K-Town Confidential

“An enjoyable zigzagging plot, though it’s the rather sensational Holly who leaves the strongest impression.” –KIRKUS REVIEWS

Young lawyer Holly Park is hired to defend teenager Naomi Linser–charged with murder in the stabbing death of the local Councilman. The crime takes place in a gritty Koreatown 'room salon' with Naomi holding the murder weapon.

The case is tried in the L.A. media and everyone takes sides. The deeper Holly digs, the darker the secrets become. Holly risks everything to find the truth, only to learn that if she reveals it, Naomi goes to prison for life. If Holly keeps the secret, then Naomi may walk, but Holly will have betrayed her lover. No one will guess the plot twists in K-Town Confidential.

Well done!

The writing is superb. I had a little trouble keeping the characters straight, due to all the name changes, but a fast-paced story with great twists!

K-Town Confidential has got to be one of the best books that I have read in a very long time. On a scale of one to ten I would have rated it a ten, but, alas, I'm only allowed to give it a five star rating which really doesn't do it justice. I have always loved a good legal thriller but this was the first legal thriller that I've ever read that was equally as much a Romance. Brad Chisholm has managed to do it all in this great read. The legal thriller part has more twist and turns to its plot than a rattle snake making its way across the desert. Great Characters, great dialogue, and fantastic plotting. I could say a great deal more about this masterpiece but I don't want to spoil it for you. If you never read any other book this year, you absolutely must read K-Town Confidential.

Fascinating!

Holly Park is a young Korean attorney who was now working in Koreatown in Los Angeles. This is the story about two cases she takes on, one where a woman is searching for the girl who’s testimony sent her former husband to prison for many years, and the other a Korean gangster who wants to learn the facts about his late wife and daughter. it is also the story about Holly’s interrelationships with all of these people. It was compellingly written and thoroughly captivating. Thanks to the author and publisher for an e-Galley for an honest review.

I read this book a while ago, and could not put it down. I love a good legal thriller (as I'm in the legal field), and appreciated the attention to details in that regard. The authors have a good grasp on character development and how to weave a storyline. You just have to root for Holly and the Dumok. Heavy (romantic) sigh... !

Phoenix nightclub. Cinnamon (aka) was asking Dumok (K Town godfather, loan shark, broker) for a $50 grand loan.
Mix (personal bodyguard) & Enforcer (personal bodyguard) were keeping a very close eye on her.
Holly H. Park (Korean, lawyer) enjoyed working for Logan Burg (50+, attorney, managing partner Stowe, Hubbell & Burg attorneys at law).

It was her last day, she said goodbye to a few of them.
American Legal Services. Kate Hong (40+, immigration broker, owner, West LA School of Law) hired Holly.
Neil Cooper (lawyer), Choi (broker, document forger, former Republic of South Korea operative) & Mi Rae (receptionist) worked there also.
Dumok (Seoul National U) came to see Holly. Logan had referred her.
He wanted to hire her to find Nara Song (Korean, Dumok’s wife). Rumor has it she is still alive.
Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills, CA. Kendall Taylor came to see Holly (27). Logan had recommended her.
Wolf Linser (32, 3rd husband, Olympic Equestrian) is in prison.
Kendall wants Alexis Lee Linser (South Korean, Wolf’s so-called wife) & her daughter found.
Detective Mick Chang (30+, retired USMC, Afghanistan) was inspecting the dead body.
Councilman Willie H. McLellan (politician) was found dead in the Koreatown salon VIP room.
Naomi Lee Linser (daughter Mick’s lover) was arrested & charged with 1st degree murder.
Choi went to pay Huck Stryker (junkie, software hacker), & Raoul (20, Mexican) a visit.
All rise Judge Christopher H. Marshall is presiding.

How will Naomi’s trial turn out?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written murder mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a large set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great murder mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Being born and raised in the Los Angeles county I've never been to Korea Town before. I was a teen during the LA Riots. This book was insightful and educational learning about Korean immigrants, and mixed race Asian culture. In the book when a man of a different race is attracted to Asian women it's called "Yellw Fever". In my Ebonics of my race when a black person is attracted to anyone outside their race, ethnicity,or nationality it's called "Junge Fever". A given term not by black people ,but adopted in the slang in the community. Alot of racial similarities and inequalities in the storyline.

This is a sort of cozy romance / legal thriller set mostly in Koreatown of LA. Holly is a single lawyer and daughter of a minister. She begins her career in a large law firm in downtown LA where she feels her talent isn't appreciated, so Holly goes to Koreatown to hang out her own shingle. Holly is a naive lawyer that doesn't understand the intricacies of Korean culture and that's when the mystery really starts.

This books has everything!!

I never read the same book twice, but this is a book I could read over and over. I fell in love with Holly from the beginning, and she did not disappoint me. This book holds everything, drama, mystery, fear, sadness, and surprises around corner. This is a must read for everyone who gets lost in a great book

Korea town in Los Angeles is the backdrop for characters whose stories are deftly woven together. There’s murder, betrayal, and law. The primary character is Holly Park, who is tied in by friendship and her career as an attorney to the other characters and events. The quick descriptions are vivid and the scenes aren’t as lengthy as typical, especially the murder trial. This is a fast, fun read.

Low 3

The unstable POV and frequent unexpected shifts are a big negative for this book. It seems like every time I start to connect to a character, *poof* I'm someone else. Very distancing. There's good story under there but I'd invest more with that stabilized and transitioned.

This is an interesting story that will grab your attention and keep it throughout. The characters are believable and will keep you rooting for the protagonists. The various place settings are also well described so that you feel you are right there. I raced through the book in one setting!

This is a very entertaining book. There were places where it was difficult to keep the characters straight, and the author compounded the problem with similar names. Still, good writing and story.
