3.65 (yes, I’m doing that specific of a star rating) -

Unexpected events are going to keep you on your toes. I enjoyed seeing the other people’s reactions to Rimru and his powers. He’s just so OP and people are beginning to really realize that. He’s smart in battle plans, too, which he probably got from RPG and military strategy games.

The ending is so mysterious. I honestly have no idea where it could go from here, which is exciting!

One the one hand I love big battles on the other i dislike the trope of overpowered characters showing of so this one is a bit of a mixed bag. The tone is also a bit more serious which is quite alright for this part of the story. But still entertaining.

Cheers.

Getting to be more action in this one, with the Orcs and the Lizardmen finally crossing paths and the "big battle" beginning. And of course (as expected), Gabiru is... not helpful... in that battle. Luckily, Rimuru and co. have arrived to assist though!

The battle is still ongoing as of the last chapter, but I'm sure Volume 5 will have the finale of this arc.

All-in-all, a really solid volume. Great to see the kijin being able to achieve their revenge so soon!

Chapter notes below for personal reference: (potentially spoiler heavy)

Eh hop une petite progression des capacités de Limule avec, en décor, un avant-gout des adversaires sérieux et coriaces que Limule rencontrera certainement plus tard dans le récit.

Summary:

Mikami's life hasn't gone as planned – or hoped. Unfortunately, his left was a fair bit shorter than ended. The one bit of good news is that he woke up in a new world. The strange news? He's now a slime.

Rimiru's life is never dull, is it? We now know that a huge battle is on the horizon. More importantly, Rimiru is finally getting a better idea of just who is behind the battle – and what it could cost his allies if he fails to step up.

Review:

I love that each volume adds to the complexity of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. At first, I wasn't sure how the series would carry over into so many volumes – but I'm starting to get it! Likewise, I understand why there has been so much (positive) chatter about the series.

If you enjoy a fantasy series full of action, you'll love That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol. 4. It's fast-paced with many battles to view. As such, there isn't a ton of room for everything else – so character development and the like will be set to the side. It's a balancing act. That said, I hope we learn more about some of the newer characters in the next volume.

It feels like we're nearing the culmination of the first major arc, but it's hard to be certain. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out – and how all the details come together.

I recently finished reading "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol. 4" by Fuse, and I must say that the series continues to deliver. As a fan of the anime adaptation, I was excited to dive into the next installment of the story. However, I can't help but feel that the pacing in this volume was a bit slow compared to the previous ones.

"That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" follows the journey of a 37-year-old Tokyo salaryman who is reincarnated as a blind, boneless slime monster in a world of elves and magic. In this volume, a new threat emerges in the form of an Orc Lord and his formidable army of monsters, posing a great danger to the residents of the Great Forest of Jura. Rimuru, the protagonist, is tasked with vanquishing the Orc Lord and protecting the forest.

While the premise of the story remains intriguing, I felt that the plot development in this volume was a bit lacking. The focus on Rimuru enlisting the aid of the lizardmen, despite their previous conflicts, added an interesting dynamic to the story. However, I wished there was more exploration of the world and its characters.

Despite the slower pacing, I still enjoyed reading "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol. 4." The writing style continues to be engaging, and the artwork beautifully complements the story. I appreciate the author's ability to create a unique and imaginative fantasy world.

Overall, I would rate "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol. 4" by Fuse with 3 out of 5 stars. While I am invested in the series and eager to see how the story progresses, this particular volume didn't captivate me as much as the previous ones. Nevertheless, fans of the series will still find enjoyment in this continuation of Rimuru's adventures.

In the previous volume the dryad Treyni came to ask Rimuru's help in defeating the orc lord and orc horde but Rimuru needs to think on it a bit. There's also the lizard people and their power struggle and of course he needs to think about the safety of his allies.

But eventually, battle it is. But not before some preparation and forging an alliance with the old lizard chief. Chief's son tries to throw his father aside and become the leader himself and that's gonna complicate things. I don't care about the lizard people's problems as much as other stuff, but the battle was entertaining because Rimuru takes some of the kijin with him and they are mad OP. They are the most interesting allies so far. Oh, and doesn't Benimaru look a lot like Masanobu Ando as Kazuo Kiriyama in Battle Royale??

Anyway, Rimuru is just observing the battle for now but there's also somebody observing him... I'm curious to see what this Clayman will bring to the table.

I keep liking this series but this was maybe my least favourite volume so far (but that's with pretty small margin), mainly because I don't care about the lizard people, although the idiot son seemed to get some sense into him during the fight with orcs, which made him slightly more tolerable. The orcs had a nice twist to separate them from the usual as they could eat other beings and become stronger that way. I also liked Treyni and hope there'll be more of her too.

Veldora's diary has gotten more interesting because he now has Ifrit for company and it's not only retelling the volume's events.

Thank goodness for the character guide at the beginning of the book. As Rimuru gains new allies his crew is ever expanding and although it is not a full roster (there would be an insane number of goblins and various evolutions of them) we do get a feel for the important ones before the manga begins along with a plot summary if where we are continuing. :)

With Treyni basically recruiting Rimuru and his people to help defeat the orc lord (who like his minions destroys and consumes their opponents thanks to his unique skill "starved") the poor man turned slime must consider the danger facing everyone. With the great danger the orcs offer not only the dryads but all creatures in the forest Rimura must put his plan into action and to start with he had to meet with the chieftain of the lizardman tribe so they can work together against the imposing 200k strong army of orcs cutting a swath of destruction through the land. Also in this volume treachery in the lizardman village, the difference in power between Rimuru's allies and the orc army, Rimuru placating the girls by letting them dress him up, and a major enemy is exposed to the readers before the end of the volume. :)

My favorite part of the book would have to be Shion purging an orc for insulting Rimuru for his insults and fishes for compliments when they needed the orc for intel. :)

A large threat looms in the horizon throughout volume 4 of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. With a split happening among the Lizardman tribe and a Andy of 200000 Orcs on the way led by an evil Orc Lord Rimuru and friends have a lot of work cut out for them. We as get a broad view of all the different races that live in the area where our little Goblin tribe calls home.

I have to admit probably Shion and Gobta are what has me continually coming back to the series. It has some of my favorite side characters in of more newer series going right now. It should be worth mentioning that with some war scenes there is a bit of gore on the battlefield, so do with that what you will. I'm curious to see what will happen next for our plucky band of oddballs.

Better than I thought it would be

I read the original web novel a few years back. To be honest it was just blind luck. I took Japanese in college in the 80's and I went to Japan a few times to visit friends when I was working in Asia 20 years ago. I was looking to brush up on my Japanese reading skills so I downloaded something that had a fan translation in English. It was an incredibly poor English translation, but the story was awesome.

Once I completed the web novel I thought to myself, "There's no way this will make any sense to anyone that doesn't know anything about Japanese culture." At the time the US publishing industry still believed they were exporters, not importers, of original media so the stuff being translated into English was notoriously awful.

Quite an interesting story. The writing, or maybe more likely the translation, was a bit weak at first, but improved significantly over 4 volumes. Nice artwork, interesting characters. The gamer in me didn't like that the protagonist was so powerful right from the start, but apparently that's a common trope in the genre, and at the same time, it's at the core of the humour here--the protagonist is the weakest, lowest-level monster around, but having previously been human, he has abilities far beyond what one would expect of a slime.

Sadly, I only got the first 4 volumes in a Humble Bundle, so I don't get to see where the story goes from here, at least for the foreseeable future.

What is there to say, this is just more of it. Certainly the story continues with an Orc Lord and his horde on the move. Rimuru and friends have to find a way to ally themselves with the Lizard Folk and their last encounter was not quite so favorable.

Expect more of the comedy and drama that is That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

Verdict: Super quick read. Super fun. Keep going!

Build up to the first big battle of the series, o cant wait to see the next volume to see the battle unfold and conclude. The artwork also in this manga is amazing to see

I have stated before I love the bonus chapters with veldora but its getting even better, like It being pure text I can actually imagine the storm dragon playing shogi it's so great and seeing him have his own development while not being directly involved in the series is amazing and so unique to see

I'm very interested to see how the battle for the forest ends. Hopefully I'll get to see in Volume 5. Volume 4 was very much what you'd come to expect from this manga, the characters, story, and art were all good, and the pacing is fairly decent. So far, I'd highly encourage checking this series out for its uniqueness alone.

Another solid volume in the book. The build up did finally come to fruition and some good battles occurred. It was generally a really straightforward volume, other than some foreshadowing at the end of the manga. It's an easy, but very light read. It is fun and fluffy.

Slime Rimuru and his allies take on the Orc Lord

This volume had the beginning of a huge battle so I liked it a bit more. The art is excellent. I just wish the slime part had a larger impact on the story.
