How do you get the perfect gift for the love of your life?
It’s Adrian and Chandler’s first Christmas together since their deployment in Iraq, and their very first holiday spent as a married couple and daddies to a boisterous, too-smart-for-her-own-good six-year-old. The two men have April’s gifts wrapped and ready under the tree… but what about their own?
Adrian is scrambling to organize the adoption of Koko, a military working dog who was Chandler’s best friend in hard times overseas, and Chandler is on an impossible mission to find the classic car that once belonged to Adrian’s late father. They’re the perfect gifts, both holding a special significance as great as their love for one another. Now the only problem is getting them on time for Christmas! With just a couple weeks to go, can Adrian and Chandler pull off their own Christmas miracles without the other knowing?
Long Shot is a fun holiday themed romance with a race against the clock and plenty of sexy, in-front-of-the-Christmas-tree MM action. It delves further into the characters introduced in Long Haul, but is written so that you can also enjoy it as a standalone story.
To my surprise, I liked this follow-up a little better than the original. Sometimes established couple stories can be a little boring or the author does the unthinkable and messes with a couple's HEA (I'm looking at you, Ella Frank). But Harper Logan does no such thing.
Long Shot is a low-key holiday story with plenty of heat. Chandler, Adrian, and their daughter are spending their first Christmas together as a family, and both men are obsessed with getting the other a a super special present. And they both succeed, but not without some worry and mishaps on the way.
The story of Chandler's gift to Adrian reads a bit like a fairy tale, but this is a holiday story after all.
I read this book in one sitting and really enjoyed it. It was so refreshing to read an established couple story with lots of spark but no drama.
Nope, this isn't for me. There's way too little plot and the plot that's there is too light-hearted for me. The author also seems to be using smut scenes as a way to fill the pages, which wasn't what I was in the mood for, especially because the smut scenes are generic. Since I'm already bored and skimming, I might as well call it day with this one.
I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.
This was such a sweet story!! I absolutely loved seeing Adrian, Chandler, and April together for their first holiday. The story was cute with Adrian and Chandler trying to get the perfect present for their first year togheter, but it was definitely a case of "holy cow that seems unrealistic and lucky". HOWEVER, it really was perfect for both of them, and I could see them both going to those crazy lengths to get the most important gift. I loved this. Sweet follow up to Long Haul.
This wasn't all that bad- the premise was great and the overall excecution was satisfying, for the most part. I do wish it had relied a lot more on the emotional connection between the characters (aside from the stunt with the gifts, there was little said in that regard) anda lot less in the sexual aspect. I really didn't think this was the kind of story to be so heavily filled with sex. Especially not when the sex scenes didn't serve a purpose beyond just sex. They didn't help move the story forward, it was just filler content.
I loved Long Shot by Harper Logan. It's the second book in the Long Haul series. This was a beautiful story about Adrian and Chandler's first Christmas together. They are both trying to find the perfect personal gift for each other. The story is heartwarming and sweet. I couldn't put it down. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This story is absolutely adorable and the perfect follow up to Long Haul. This book combined the difficulty and the adorableness of trying to keep a secret surprise away from your partner, who you are with almost 24/7 because you live and work together.
That being said, there were parts that just left me puzzled, such as the wrecked truck. Its mentioned several times, but seems to be missing in detail for the events other than sentimental value. The truck is not mentioned in Long Haul, and is just briefly and repeatedly mentioned, almost as a stand by thing showing the love Adrian and Chandler have for engines and vehicles. That could just be me as I like the continuation of the story, not jump cuts to areas of time, leaving out what are obviously important events, such as a wreck and loss of semantic possessions.
This story does let us see the further development of Adrian and Chandler as a couple and the growth of their daughter, April. This is a great Christmas timey story about love and surprise and do suggest it be added to your reading list. I would not recommend reading this story if you have not read Long Haul first.
Of note: I did receive this book for free for the explicit purpose of providing an honest review of the material. There has been no monetary or other forms of compensation for my review. I am scoring it 4 out of 5 for the reasons stated above.
I leave off with saying again, that I do recommend this book and it’s a great fast read.
A sweet and somewhat stressful Christmas story about two men who had finally after years apart managed away too find their places back to each other again. It's their first Christmas together and each of them want to do something very special for the other. Chandler always seems to find some of his fondest memories talking of the service dog Koko that spent time with them overseas in the military. He had admitted once or twice that Koko had become his listening partner when times had got tough over there for him. Adrian had lost the last piece of his dad when he was in a accident earlier that year and his truck was damaged. That had been the only thing left that him and his father had worked on before his father had died. However, both Adrian and Chandler get amazing news for great gifts for the other, but time is ticking down before Christmas comes and it seems like so many things are coming in between both of them getting each other those perfect gifts. Come and join Adrian and Chandler has the rush against time to get each other gifts to remember.
PLEASE READ FIRST MY RATING SYSTEM!!! To my ratings (for all people, who wonder, why I say a 3*-book is a good book and should be readed): 5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like Liberty from Seth King or Save the kids series from EM Leya). it’s like an A+ 4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books) It’s like an A 3* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It’s like an A-B 2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartly, but it was ok) It’s like an C- D 1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (maybe too many mistakes, not a nice plot, or unlogical story, so a NO-GO) It’s like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
This sweet Christmas story is the sequel to Long Haul. We follow the lives of Adrian and Chandler and their daughter, April. They are now married for a year and are settling down in married life. Very much in love with each other, they want to find the perfect Christmas gift. And obviously, they find it. It is Christmas after all, and magic happens. But it is the way this author tells the story that is really engaging. A lot of romance, laughter and sexy scenes make it a book that is a joy to read. With a cute couple, a sweet little girl and a sigh-worthy ending, this story is the perfect read to get into the Christmas spirit.
This was a sweet Christmas story about Chandler and Adrian. Settled in at their home and garage life has been good to them. Now Christmas is upon them and they both want to get the other a special gift. When ideas hit them it is with a bang. Facing nearly impossible odds they both go on an angst filled quest to find what what they know will be a gift that will be remembered forever. A delightful sequel to "Long Haul," it is a good feel book that lifts the spirits. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book and will definitely tell you to read it!
Adrian and Chandler are both hunting for the perfect gift. Each of them trying to be sneaky about it and causing tension when they should be happy about their first Christmas together. It's such a sweet and endearing story of finding that special gift that will be a testament of how deeply the love is between them. Have a Kleenex handy because it will bring you to tears.
This is a very well written sequel to "Long Haul" but can be read as a stand alone book. Adrian and Chandler are well developed characters whose depth is built upon in this story. Military veterans who are raising a brilliant 6 year old, they have their own business repairing vehicles. As Christmas approaches, both men are searching for the perfect gift for each other. Tensions run high as time begins to run out; just your typical holiday stress. This is a good book for your must read list.
This feels like an extended epilogue to Long Haul.
It's Adrian and Chandler's first christmas together, and both of them want to find the other the perfect gift, so they both set out on a journey on a bumpy road where the obstacles keep coming at them.
There is not a lot of drama here apart from the wonder about whether or not they will get the gifts in time.
Fans of the pair will like the revisit with a happy couple.
A super sweet Christmas time story. Chandler and Adrian are approaching their first Christmas together and they each want to get the other a very special gift. It's really cute watching them scramble trying to get the perfect gift while not revealing to the other what they are doing because they want it to be a surprise. A heartwarming story that is perfect for this time of year. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is a Christmas story that is a year into Chandler and Adam’s life. As another reviewer stated, this was like an extended epilogue to their story. I liked that we got this extra glimpse into where these guys ended up. They struggled over finding the perfect gift for each other like so many couples do in reality. The best part was the fact that you could see how in love that they are with each other. A great follow up and lead in to perhaps another book.
What a beautiful follow-up to "Long Haul". While reading this I was reminded of O. Henry's story "The Gift". Adrian and Chandler have been married for a year, now have a family established with Adrian's daughter April, and are making ready to celebrate their 1st Christmas. Both are facing the dilemma of presents; very personal presents for each other. Each one represents a significant part of their lives both apart and together. This is a Christmas story at its best.
Two guys are stressed out about finding the perfect Christmas gift for one another. Most of the book is a setup for the moving ending. Typos: Chapter eight is from the previous book! The narrative picks up in chapter 9 where it left off in chapter 7, so nothing appears to be missing, but it was jarring. Inconsistent and incorrect punctuation around closing quotes, missing word or dash ("a bite information that confirmed"), Marine should be capitalized when referring to USMC personnel.
Married couple Adrian & Chandler both want to get the other the perfect Christmas gift. Once they each decide on a present for the other, they both have to work hard & have a lot of luck to make it happen & keep it a secret..
I enjoyed this sweet, feel good Christmas story. It was fun watching them try to keep their secrets and dealing with the frustration of not knowing if their plan will work.
I haven't read the previous book but I found it worked great as a stand alone.
This is Book #2 in the LONG HAUL. Chandler and Adrian with daughter April are looking forward to Christmas. Their lives together couldn't be better. Christmas is the time for giving. These two are dreaming big to surprise each other. I love this couple and I loved this Book. This is just what I needed to get me in the holiday season spirit. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!
Omg this book was absolutely amazing. This book was a page turner that I just couldn't stop reading until the end. This book was beautifully written. I had absolutely loved reading this book. I would highly recommend this book. I had voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
What's not to love? It's a super cute Christmas story. I love Adrian and Chandler and how they want to get each other perfect gift for their first Christmas together. I would love to see more of this couple and would recommend this book.
The ending was pretty certain. There was a great story of how things got settled. It was a nice follow-up. It seems the story of this gay blended family will have another episode.
I loved this book !The first one was great but this one really hit my heart ! I loved to be able to catch up with Chandler and Adrian and little April !! I hope to catch up with them again in the future!! Great book
A sweet holiday f/u, nice to see these guys settled, happy and in a good place.
There was a whole chapter (8 I think) that was actually from the first book, not sure how that made it in but it was definitely an error so skip right past that & the story continues properly in ch9.
Oh I LOVED it. I hope there will be more to this family and hoping it will grow even more with love and new family members. This was so sweet I will be rereading this for sure. LOVED IT AWESOME WRITING!!!
This is the second story, a sequel to Long Haul. It continues with the lives of Adrian, Chandler and April and what their first Christmas was like. The struggle both men had in finding the perfect present for each other. I enjoyed it.
I read the first book along Haul and in so glad I read this one too. It was such a great read. It was so fun to read but heartwarming and lovely too. I can’t write to read more by this author :) x
