In 2014, Betsy Blankenbaker released her first book, Autobiography of an Orgasm, a spiritual memoir about her five years researching orgasm as a way to heal. The U.K.’s Sunday Times called it “part erotica, part refreshingly sincere roadmap for the orgasmically challenged... sort of an anti- Fifty Shades of Grey.” By the time Betsy completed her book, she had healed her body and mind from the sexual assaults she experienced as a child and teenager, and from a date rape as an adult. She felt herself coming to life at age fifty, a time when many women are being dismissed by society. There were consequences for speaking up—some of them unpleasant. She wondered if she should have stayed quiet so that she didn’t offend or hurt or disappoint other people. How many of us don’t speak our truth because we fear rejection or being abandoned by others? We choose to stay quiet—and then we abandon ourselves. Beyond O is the captivating follow-up to Autobiography of an Orgasm. Through her personal storytelling, Betsy makes you question your current views on sex and sensuality as she focuses less on the orgasm and more on living from the vitality and wisdom of her sensual energy. She uses humor and truth-telling as she invites the reader into the most sensual year of her life. By the end of the book – and an unexpected twist – Betsy will make you want to speak up too.
