Lovely, lovely book. Fire kasina is wonderful. I'm an advanced practitioner, so I play with the murk, spinning disks within a golden disk, and some ephemeral imagery that seems to be a combo of my mind imprinting upon the world and getting more visual and active. Gotten some definite psychedelic imagery, and an afterglow of sensate clarity and enhanced concentration, but I haven't hit the out of the world demigod or deific spirits. (Though recently I have a mental imagery of a fire demigod speaking to me, which brought interesting insights into my psyche, and how I relate to my racing thoughts and anxiety.) In addition, have gotten an uptick of dreams along with repeat fruitions/cessations during my sits, with very little practice. Far more fun and dynamic of a meditation as opposed to just the breath/standard vipassana. This will be a life-long practice for me. Great stuff. Excited to see where this goes, and I'm excited to see other people try this practice.
An interesting and practical book from the subjective experience of Daniel Ingram and Shannon Stein. Since it is entirely subjective, it is hard to conclude anything in stone here and one must definitely try for himself. I tried a few days ago to gaze at a candle flame and, upon my first experience, saw a red dot. Inside it a smaller dot of orange or perhaps light, which was becoming smaller and fading away, and every time I opened my eyes and concentrated for a few more moments before closing again, the red dot appeared. The thing is, I did not know how to proceed from here and if the procedure is gradual yet natural without requiring me to do anything other than gazing at the flame.
