Despite its title, I don't think this book is for complete beginners. I have an intermediate level of French and found it challenging at times.
The audiobook is an excellent way to practice aural French, which is probably my weak point in the language. The stories are wide-ranging and vary between dialogues, personal reflections and descriptions of places. I studied the transcript after listening to the stories to make sure I understood all the words.
The vocab sections at the end of each short story are hit-and-miss. Sometimes they translate fairly obvious words (like "une terrasse"="a terrace" or "un catalogue" = "a catalog") while passing over more useful translations (like "malgré" = "despite" or "d'ailleurs" = "anyway").
Overall I would recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their French. Mine certainly benefited from it.

Я не знаю, чем руководствовался автор, когда выносил на обложку "for complete beginners". По моему мнению, эта книга отлично подойдет для уровня А2 - В1. Дикторы читают очень быстро, хорошо, что в книге есть транскрипция диалогов.

Helpful tool to see some French vocab used in real context. I also like how the book has the translation in the chapter after a few paragraphs so it’s easy to catch the meaning of a word you don’t know.

Very well done. He reads through each story slowly and clearly, then examines the vocabulary.

This was a re-read, as I'm trying to get my French listening skills up. It's actually an excellent book for beginners.

Overall it challenged me

It was challenging because it used lots of new words I didn't know but I wanna believe it improved my comprehension.
