Samantha Fox was a big star worldwide after she released her album with the single "Touch Me." Those in the UK knew her as a model before that, and she went on to have three top albums. She then went on to have hit songs like "Naughty Girls Need Love," and "I Wanna Have Some Fun." It is interesting now reading about stars like Kim Wilde and Fox, who were huge worldwide, but are known only by a select few today in the US, but at the time she was everywhere and many men were drooling after her from her MTV videos. She was wrongly lumped in as a pop/novelty star in the US, where she had a rocker style to her.
The book is an easy read and she talks about modeling at age 13, where some photos were promised not to see the light of day, which they eventually did, which helped her career even more. Tales about Kiss' Paul Stanley (who gets a whole chapter), Queen, Lemmy of Motorhead, and other British acts are told her, as well as her finding out that her manager/after never paid taxes on her and the abuse she endured throughout the years. She then discusses rumors about her life and her sexuality, and sets the record straight.
Overall a nice read, but nothign too shocking. It isn't a trash book which is nice, but I didn't find anything about her I couldn't get off wikipedia. True fans will like the read, but for the causal fan like me (I did enjoy the KISS stories being a fan of the band), it was still worth the read.

Discovering Sammy in 1986 at the age of 12, she certainly made an impression on me! Reading this book took me back to my childhood in major way. Reading about things I was aware of and things I wasn't aware of at the time. It focused mostly about her childhood, upbringing and he career in the 80s. The last two decades weren't as detailed and felt a bit brushed over, and could have been talked about more. But all in all, a great read for any fan of Samantha Fox!

Whilst it obviously isn't going to win any awards for the writing it was an easy and enjoyable read. Would have liked it to be a little longer and had more photos but I am a huge Samantha Fox fan so will always want more.

Today is Samantha Fox's 60th birthday. (Yeah, I know).
As a long time fan (even before I knew what a Page 3 girl was, I was a fan of her music) - and one of my longest running celeb crushes- I knew that I was going to spent the day finishing up this book.
Now, this isn't a glamorous story about one of my favorite Ladies from the 80s. It gritty and sad and depressing. As I was reading it, I knew that there were cracks forming in the celeb pedestal I had placed her on, back in the 80s.
Stories about the abuse in the home. The tragedies that she went thru. The transition from model to singer, and all the bumps that went with it.
I read about her failed relationships - with both men & women. The loss of her true love to cancer. The financial disaster her father's embezzlement caused for her. And even the more embarrassing moments of her life. (Her first visit with Paul Stanley. Her messy tour incidents when she had a stomach parasite. And her awkward romance with a major language barrier).
As a fan of Samantha Fox, I did enjoy this book - but I do think it is written For the fans more than anyone else.

A fascinating insight into the life of one of the 80's biggest icons.
This focuses far more on Fox as a musician than her glamour career and yet doesn't go into that much depth on that either - we hear about touch me but the rest of her output isn't discussed in much detail. It's a fast paced read and a great overview covering Sam's family trauma and various relationships, with both frankness and humour but some of the chapters are very short - Maybe what I'm saying is this book could be ten times longer and still wouldn't have come close to uncovering everything about this very complex and brave woman.
I would have liked more on the LGBT side of things and the reactions of the nation's favourite glamour girl suddenly coming out as gay. It's obviously there, and we get chapters dedicated to Myra and Chrissie as well as her male lovers but I really would have liked to read more on her inner turmoil and gender identity.
On the whole though this is a biography you do not want to put down, it's entertaining and a great, if brief, overview.

Ljudbok på svenska: Min berättelse
Det är oklart varför jag fortsätter att lyssna/läsa denna sortens böcker, när jag känner att jag bara blir uttråkad av att höra uppradningar av kändisar man hängt med eller framgångar man haft, som ett dåligt sommarprat. Det är såklart intressant att höra hennes sida av sina framgångar och vem hon är egentligen. Och eftersom jag trodde hon försvann från artist-arenan samtidigt som hennes genombrott inte längre var "top of mind" så hade jag ingen aning om att hon höll sig kvar i branschen.
Men det mesta jag fick ut av boken var alla kändisar hon hängde med och konserter hon gjorde och hur beundrad hon var. Det var den tråkiga delen som dessvärre var merparten av boken. Dock bjuder hon på sig själv när hon tex berättar hur det var att uppträda med magsjuka inte bara en gång.

I'm been a Forever Fox Fan since I first heard "Touch Me" on the radio back in 1986. Overall, I really enjoyed her memoir. I learned so much about her. But I have to dock this a star, because I was really hoping to hear her thoughts on her music, recording it, etc. Outside of "Touch Me" and "Naughty Girls" she gives a cursory mention to just a few other songs and doesn't even mention her third and fourth albums at all. So that was a little disappointing. Otherwise, this was a great autobiography.

A real life Bridget Jones she is!
I've learnt that my entire youth has been a lie! This book is written with a great speed that fills you with occasional laughs, but also ordinary life mishappenings. Great combination of stories and definitely worth the read.
