Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.

The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.

Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.

Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).

After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.

Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.

She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.

This is a good YA story, not great but entertaining. It does end with the infamous "to be continued" and I pictured the fairy tale ending as the book closes! Lol!

Katerina is running for her life after her brother assassinates their father, the King. A loyal knight makes sure she escapes so that she can live and reclaim her rightful place as Queen/Heir of the Kingdom. She steps through an unknown doorway and finds herself in a world she only thought existed in fairy tales and legends. She must now relies on these mythical beings for her safety. Kat's unlikely hero/rescuer is Dylan, an Alpha Ranger. These two are constantly keeping secrets form everyone, including each other.

I hate cliffhangers, even in books that I love - I would prefer that the story wrap up and a new story line develop in the next edition. This book ends with the beginning of a new story line, I am sure to snag the reader into reading the next book. Apparently, a common practice with this author who is new to me.

I will continue the series, most likely.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.
Wow, this book was fantastic! It pulled me right in, kept me reading till the end, & left me wanting the next book, I will impatiently be waiting for book 2! (This does have a cliff-hanger ending) The flow was fast & furious, the reader learns the world building along with the sheltered princess as the story progresses, which I thought was very effective at pulling the reader into the story. The characters are fabulous (even the secondary ones IMO). There are lots of secrets, surprises & plot twists. This was definitely well worth reading.

I liked the story, initially, but it started to get tedious with the stumble into trouble, get saved by the hero. I could have overlooked that if the book had a stand alone ending. My pet peeve is cliffhangers to get you to buy the next book. If the story is good and a situation gets resolved even though there is an underlying bigger story, I’m okay with that. This one just took the easy way out and bailed. Sadly, however much I liked the characters, I’m not ready to invest more of my time and money on this approach.

Its not the best story ever but it was ok, a young princess running around in the forest hiding from the royal soldiers that want her dead, she meets a young men who will help her hide. Basically the whole book is them hiding and running away and then it ends abruptly in the last 3 pages.
Its a saga so it ends in "it will continue..." which is very frustrating.
I like sagas where you can read only one and it ends well without needing to read the next one.

This was a great start to the series. I was already a fan of this author and remain so after this addition to her line up. Although I'm not a princess, I think Katerina is relatable enough. Even when she's not the author does a good job of letting you see in to her head. The storyline moves at a good pace and the characters were interesting. In fact, I love the otherworldly aspect!

Although the overall feeling is fairly dark, the author mixes things up with more light-hearted moments. I'm excited to see where this is going!

What do you get when you pair a hunted princess with an alpha Ranger as they run to escape the murderous pursuit of her evil twin brother? You get Eternal by WJ May, a paranormal romance with great characters, an interesting world and clever exchanges. First in the series The Queen’s Alpha, it promises to be a great YA series with strong romantic undertones and great adventure.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.

This was a pretty mediocre book. It was a fast read, not much depth to it but the storyline did interest me as I enjoy mythical creatures. There is a whole series and I’m not sure if I’ll read them all but I’ve bought the next one already.

This book reads as a YA. The protagonist is 18. So, I kept this in mind when rating it. If it was an NA novel, my star rating would be lower. All in all, it’s an enjoyable read. It transitions easily and is entertaining.

I’ll pick up the rest of the series. I found all the characters likeable, which is a bonus.

This book draws you in from the very beginning. Princess Katerina is on the run from her twin brother who seeks to kill her in order to become the king. Along the way she encounters all sorts of magical creatures that she has only read about in books. She is able to make new friends who are willing to risk their lives to keep her safe. But for how long?.....
I cannot wait to see how this story unfolds!!!!!

Loving the beginning to this new series. The characters are just great. I love both Kat and Dylan. Kat really is an innocent of the world around her and Dylan seems to be too worldly. Put them together and you have a wonderful disaster. It doesn’t seem like anything is easy for these two. She’s a princess running from what could be her death and the only help she has is Dylan. At times you can’t tell if he cares at all to help or just feels obligated to. The story has some fun twists and all the types of people (not very many humans) are written wonderfully. Can’t wait for book two.

Just draws you right in and doesn't let go. Couldn't put this one down and can't wait for the next!!

Katerina is on the run after her father is murdered by her twin brother. She is the next in line for the throne but getting away alive is a more pressing concern first. Along the way, she meets some helpful fairies, teams up with Dylan, runs into and makes friends with a variety of different people. Finding out your childhood fairy-tales were not just tales is pretty awesome. I love the interactions of the group, and can't wait to see how things end up. I really hope we get to see Bernie again also!!

Eternal (The Queens Alpha Series) (Volume 1) W J May

I really enjoyed reading this story.
I quickly lost myself in this fantasy world & found myself not wanting to put the book down.

The only disappointment I experienced was when I realised I’d got to the end & that I now had to wait for the next volume!

Wonderful story set in a world full of magic and magical creatures. The main character starts out sheltered and unable to take care of herself, but quickly learns how to. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I liked this book as it starts with a real punch and then continues through a series of ups and downs of adventures from there. Just when you think you've reached calmness... Wham! I loved its raw feeling of fear in the main character, emphasised by the secrets everyone around her keeps, even those who claim to be her friends or helping her, so she's never quite sure whether she can entirely trust them - a feeling compounded by the events at the start of the book. I think that's why I love Bernie the giant so much - he's honest, straightforward and a very lovable guy!
Anyway, this is a great, well-written book that I'd highly recommend to anyone who loves fantasy, paranormal and supernatural books - I think the author's swallowed a myths and legends book and then the contents have emptied from her mind to the pages of this book, there are so many different beings in it; definitely something for everyone! I certainly enjoyed the story, and am looking forward to reading the next instalment in the series.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

The beginning sold me but then slowly it got super sleeping beauty/LOTR/storybook…in other words it wasn’t very unique in its own way, including the plot. Which also kept getting dragged on and on. Also, there was a lot of “fairytale style” dialogue/etiquette but then random current world things would pop in. Like when mentioning a scenery looked like a postcard. I was like what? :0

I zoomed through this book. While the story follows Katy, a princess on the run from her murderous brother, we have a wonderful story complied with all the fun and scary fairy-tale creatures from the classics. I wouldn’t compare it to any fairy-tale book though, because Eternal has its own unique spin (and a budding romance) that really keeps the reader enthralled until the last page. It does end in a mild cliff-hanger so be prepared if you don’t like to wait for sequels.

I enjoyed following Katy, Dylan and their ever growing rag tag crew. It looks like things are only going to get harder from here. They are on the run to get to a mythic safe haven before the crown prince’s assassins and guards find Katy and kill her. Katy will have her hands full uniting a kingdom and taking back her throne.

I would recommend this young adult book to any fantasy fairy-tale lover.

Eternal is the first book in The Queen’s Alpha series.

Katerina, 18, princess now Queen actually after her crazy twin brother brutally assassinates their father, the King overthrowing the throne, but a loyal knight makes sure she escapes alive to seek help to take it back and reclaim her rightful place as Heir on the Throne. She finds herself in a world she only thought were in fairy tales and legends, but now relies on them for her safety and return to the Kingdom she loves and grew up in, to correct the evil done by her father. Can't wait for the next novel.

W.J. May brings to life a story full of supernatural creatures in a world that has been separated by the king. Join Kat and Dylan on there journey as they tell half truths and hold secrets from everyone including each other. Eternal was captivating from page one and is a book I know I will happily reread again.

This has been a fantastic story to read. I was hooked within the first 5 pages. I couldn't put it down. I just wanted to see what next situation Katrina would find herself in. The scenes that were described in the book are so real and I couldn't help but picture them in my mind. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Why do I always read book 1 of W.J. May’s new series before book 2 is out?!?!? Why do I do this to myself?!??? 😞

This book was really good. I enjoyed, yet again, the adventure and depth of characters. Can’t wait for the next book!
