Miles is the sixth book in the Dragon Heartbeats series by Ava Benton. It is part of The Dragon Heartbeats Series Boxset. This is my first read by Ava Benton, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories- but the blurb sounded promising and had my attention at ‘Dragons’- so I snapped up a copy and set off on the adventures.
This is a paranormal romance series, each book following different characters, but weaving an overarching background story which provides a much ‘bigger picture’. With dragon shifters, damsels in distress, fated mates, chemistry, sparks, action, adventure, supernatural elements, Fae, protective Alpha-male types, threats, challenges, fate/destiny, a little humour, danger, a quest, treasure, and dramatic developments- all in one convenient package, made for hours of hopeful reading.
While I normally love a great dragon shifter romantic suspense- this series, unfortunately, didn’t meet my expectations- I think I came away with more questions than answers here. A lot of ambiguous information, and threads that didn’t develop or lead anywhere. Left me wanting more. The premise holds a lot of promise- but missed the mark for me.
There are more books in this series, but I am unsure if I will continue them at this stage. Stay tuned.
But if you like dragon shifter romance, damsels in distress, fated mates, and spicy details- then you should probably read this series for yourself and make up your own mind.

Saving Savannah
Miles is the only single guy left of the brothers and cousins from the beginning. He goes out one day with two members of the Scotland clan that they rescued. His dragon urged him to pull over at a certain beach and to swim out to the cliffs. When they get there, they see a girl at the top. She looks like she may jump. Mile's dragon tells him that she is his and he must save her.
Savannah is at the end of her rope. Her father is a crime Lord and promised her in marriage to one of his "associates", Antonio. They don't care about her opinion. She is just someone to be used and abused by both of them. She would rather die than live as a prisoner to Antonio.
She jumps and after hitting the first set of rocks she blacks out. Mile's changes into his dragon and catches her. She has many injuries including internally.
This story is about saving Savannah from not only a life of being owned, but also from death.
I liked the epilogue that let us know a little bit about the rest of the family that was previously mated. I have loved reading this series and look forward to more, maybe about the Scotland clan.

These dragons took my breath away!
Alpha males trying to control their instinct
in order not to take away choices from their mates.
Trying to compromise their living situation
with their need for love.
Passion, wants and needs fighting each other,
the sense of family, honour and guarding secrets.
And the story of the clan;
Loved it!
Looking forward to continue in another continent!

Miles offers a more introspective ride. Our brooding bachelor dragon just wants peace—and maybe a little love. Instead, he finds himself saving a reckless woman with a secret of her own. Their push-pull romance hits nicely, even if the pacing dips a bit midway.
