I wasn't sure I'd like this, since I hadn't thought much of the other books Ms. Hart wrote, but since I'd only read a couple, I decided to give another one a try, and I'm glad I did.
I'll admit at first it felt a bit creepy that the H and h were stepbrother and stepsister, but since they're not blood related, what the heck?
I liked Tori's transformation from aspiring nun to Wild west wife, even learning to shoot, as well as be sexy and seductive, all the time retaining her sweetness and kind heart. Jacob goes through some changes as well, becoming less angry, as well as less inclined to settle matters with a gun, unless he has no choice. He never lets up in his determination to avenge his father's death and get the men responsible for trying to destroy the family ranch, with a little help from his wife and friends.
It was also a nice change to have an h who learns to ride a horse, without being an expert who rides like the wind, better than anyone for miles around! It does get redundant to read of these equestrian marvels time and again, so an average rider is appreciated (not to mention a lot more believable).
The SC, drake and Megan, were from a previous book I haven't read, but they sparked my interest, so I intend to check it out. I wouldn't mind if Tori and Jacob showed up in another book, as well.
I'm glad I gave this book a chance.
