**Contains spoilers if you haven’t read The Traveling Man**
The way things ended in the first book left me feeling agitated for days, and during that time I wanted nothing more than to get my greedy hands on this sequel. But I was also nervous because I wasn’t sure how the author would approach Aimee and Kes’s relationship after that ending, and was even more afraid that I wouldn’t like it. It was a bumpy journey, but overall I’m really happy with the way Aimee and Kes’s story was resolved – some plot events along the way I definitely didn’t agree with, but I respect and admire the author for going all out and delivering a conclusion that fit these characters well.
The beginning of this story picks up where book 1 ended, and to my surprise, I didn’t expect that previous cliffy ending to be resolved so quickly. Kes visits Aimee and decides to try living her lifestyle since she spent weeks on the road with him as a carnie before. I liked that there was some character growth in this portion of the story as Kes and Aimee truly communicate and lay out their insecurities and fears. In the first book, I totally felt that this was a couple that belonged together, but got aggravated by the unresolved angst and inner conflict due to a lack of communication, so I was really overjoyed to see them both improve in this aspect.
As the story progressed, I settled into the comfortable pace of the story and that’s when I got caught off guard by a twist the author threw into the book. It startled me, but it was bound to happen sooner or later and most importantly, the author wrote it in a way that further convinced me how strong the bond between Aimee and Kes was, how much they loved each other, and how they could get through pretty much any obstacle together. It was a journey full of redemption, second chances, and healing, and through this experience, they both matured considerably.
There are only 2 reasons to why I can’t give higher than a 4 star rating: one being the slow first portion of the story and how fast one main conflict was resolved in the first 30% of the book, which I was expecting to be developed more. The other reason was that plot twist that took me by surprise. While it ended up benefiting the plot and character growth, I personally didn’t agree with it so that’s my problem and may very well be easily accepted by other readers.
Now that I’ve finished this book, my recommendation would be to read these 2 books back to back. I think it’s a story that really can’t be judged until read in its entirety, which is probably why I struggled so much with rating the first book on its own. Overall, I would give this duet a 4-4.5 star rating. The two books complemented each other perfectly and fit together like two puzzle pieces. Book 1 was more of a charming, magical story that swept me off my feet and took me to a dreamy world full of carnival fun and hopeful wishes. Book 2 – while still retaining some of that magical quality – presented a more realistic, relatable story following the romance between a restless wanderer and a homebody at heart, and how a relationship between two people so different could work. And because put together, this duet encompasses pretty much everything, the reading experience was satisfying and rich full of feelings too. All in all, the author has really given readers a unique and fresh romance that’s going to capture hearts.
The Traveling Woman is book 2 in the Traveling Duet and must be read after The Traveling Man.

SERIES RATING AND SPOILER-FREE REVIEW:
"I had roots, he had wings - could they ever work together?"
I adore books that take place in a span of years. It always makes me feel closer and more connected to characters. This duology is not an exception. I witnessed life journey of Aimee and Kes since they were 10 years old. Their childhood friendship, teenage romance and most importantly their passionate and wild adult love affair. And I loved it all.
So different, yet so right for each other. Kes is rough and problematic carnival showman. Aimee is sweet and innocent book nerd town girl. No matter how unrealistic, I have been rooting for them to find a way to be together every single page of these novels. But will they ever find a way to be together permanently, not just couple of weeks every year? Will Kes, a man constantly living on the edge, will he ever find his peace?
As individuals, Aimee and Kes weren't that special in my eyes. But when together, they were out-of-this-world magical and perfect for each other. You know this feeling, when you get all excited with butterflies in your belly anytime something angsty or swoon worthy is about to happen in the book? I love this feeling of reading anxiety and Aimee's and Kes's story provided it in big doses.
Moreover, I thoroughly enjoyed the way author composed various aspects together in The Traveling Duet. She interconnected friendship, idealism of first love, people's prejudices, power of second chances and learning that harsh reality of life always gets in the way of your dreams together with colorful magic that only carnival and breathtaking adrenaline shows can provide. Thank you Jane Harvey-Berrick for bringing this little bit of magic to my life!
The only tiny complaint I had, was that while first book kept me on my toes from the beginning to the end, main storyline in second book was very predictable in my opinion. It didn't affect my enjoyment of The Traveling Woman, but it lacked the "wow factor" that The Traveling Man possessed.
I absolutely love books about characters who lead extraordinary out-of-norm lives; lives that I cannot imagine leading myself but find extremely fascinating to read about. The Traveling Duet falls within this category and I recommend it to all those who enjoy unconventional romance stories!

I love reading romance I'm a smut reader and I'm also a ROMANCE reader but I just love LOVE I love how people meet, I'm a people watcher and when reading a book I get myself in the zone where I am completely engrossed on the romance of the story and them. That being said I also love stories that are about LIFE and MAGIC about taking me to a place that gives me good memories or being part of a couple where magic exists in world a that struggles to understand that way of life. And this SERIES is just that.
WARNING***This is a DUET and needs to be read together so if you haven't read The Traveling Man please read that first as this review will contain some mild spoilers although I have tried not to keep it a minimum.***
Book Two begins a month after book One finished and where they had a month of separation, in that they begin a new relationship based on truth one where Aimee wants to know about secrets, and she wants into Kes's heart where he explains who he truly is and not keeps himself to himself any more. At this point in the game Aimee is a school teacher and Kes is a free man who travels with his carnie family he's a bird that flies and not one where he stays put in one place at a time, yet here he is trying out what it's like to be with Aimee but that comes with Aimee worrying about how Kes will deal with living in normalcy and also with Kes worrying how and if Aimee will leave him. Kes knows nothing else so if he looses Aimee what will that leave him with. They really do have to work on talking and the first quarter you will quench that relationship in full force take on board their emotions and feelings and what troubles they are going through present and past.
There is a good amount of Character development in this one where they spend a good amount of time exploring themselves as adults it is much more of a mature story which they needed, you as a reader will then understand them and see how they grow independently with Aimee letting go of her worries and just being with Kes and his lifestyle choice and Kes likewise doing vise-versa with Aimee. Yet together in a relationship you truly see how they weld together as a unit and not only that but as leaders of a their Family the Mum and Dad in many ways this story is a good round about way to seeing them grow as individuals and as a team, as a couple that love each other with all that they are.
Kes is still very much an Alpha Male and is high on 1. with sexual and sensual testosterone but also 2. protecting his woman, he loves Fiercely and they are definitely the kind of men I love to read about above all else, except he is also a good companion and is all for Loving his woman whole heartedly he see's what Aimee was seeing previously and just wants happiness for her. I suppose a good amount of this conclusion is about them working out where they fit in the world and how to exist in it.
LIFE
Letting go of how social society expects you to conduct ones self and how we should behave and also how people see us from the outside. That is how we question ourselves right? Is it ok to fly? yet with Kes its who he is, its how he was brought up, it's how he lives and with him yes yes it's 100% ok to be like that. Its definitely ok to be different because Kes is one sexy male but he also one Beautiful person on the inside and he protects and loves his family Fiercly. Aimee alongside him makes him just stronger in that, Aimee fights for her Man and also believes its ok to fly likewise as a team.
Above all this is the PERFECT conclusion in my opinion to their LOVE STORY. It may not have the magical edge that book one had, but is most definitely a magical way of living and a beautiful ending that had me turning the pages again and again. And to them THEY are HOME. Jane is one AMAZING storyteller and I will most definitely read her stories in the future. And for memories sake it made me remember being a child and going to the carnival/Fair myself if there's anything you need to do anytime through life its to go to the fair and enjoy yourself Live, Breathe and Love.
"It is me, Kes. It's the girl who let a strange boy climb in her window; it's the 16 year old girl who stroked you until you were hard while we lay on the grass at the back of the carnival field; it's the girl who gave you her virginity, even though she knew that you were leaving in a few days. The girl who's been lost for years, sleepwalking through her life. Until I found you."

“Kes wasn’t safe. He wasn’t a sensible choice. He made my heart race, and swoop, and die a little. When I was near him, I burned … Maybe we’d burn together. But maybe, just maybe, we’d fly.”
4.5 stars!
And an absolutely beautiful conclusion to Aimee and Kes’ amazing story that began in The Traveling Man.
Sequels or conclusions to a much-loved story are always slightly terrifying to read, so after adoring The Traveling Man as much as I did, I was understandably nervous going into this one, but Jane Harvey-Berrick has done a fantastic job with this book, and I am one very happily satisfied little reader!
This review may be a little bit spoilery if you haven’t read The Traveling Man, and you definitely need to read that book before you dive into this one. And why wouldn’t you? It’s a beautiful story that captured my heart from the very start, and that same feeling of being immersed into something very special is continued here. And I can happily say that that god-awful cliffy is resolved very early on, leaving us the rest of the book to get lost in the wonder that is Kes, Aimee, their circle of family and friends and the crazy, magical world that they inhabit.
Once again the story is told from Aimee’s POV, and it picks up a month after the end of the last book . Best friends since childhood, Aimee and Kes are still madly in love, but they are very different people who inhabit very different worlds, and with their being together requiring one of them to sacrifice so much, they have a battle on their hands to figure out how they can possibly make a life together.
I love this relationship! It’s not all rainbows and unicorns, it’s hard work, and Kes himself is hard work. He’s not a perfect boyfriend, he’s stubborn and aggressive with a short fuse and they argue and fight, but their love and passion for each other is out of control, and simply put – they are best friends and soul mates, so while part of their being together is effortless, they still have to fight for it, and I loved seeing that.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this book was getting to know Kes more. . He goes through a lot in this book, and the way he handles himself is understandable, but you can also see the change that he has gone through since the first book, and his growth as a character is really well done.
And Aimee proves herself to be a worthy partner for him. Strong, determined and brave, she loves her man fiercely, and that is evident in everything she does. Yet she’s not a doormat and isn’t afraid to stand up to him. She’s got some sass, and I love that about her.
This book will take you on a bit of a ride. It’s emotional at times, but it wasn’t overly angsty, there is no stupid behaviour and I never got annoyed with the characters. This is a real ‘resolution’ book, while still very much being a continuation of Aimee and Kes’ story, recapturing the feeling of the first book, and showing us everything that we want to see .
Honestly, I could have stopped reading halfway through and been thrilled at how everything worked out, but apparently Jane likes to push, and she pushed things in this one. Not a necessary storyline, but an interesting one, and I really liked how it played out, and the impact that it had on both Kes and Aimee and their life together.
I also loved getting to spend time with the extended cast of characters. This is such a close group with fantastic dynamics, and they all added so much to the story. Hilde, in particular, was a hilarious surprise!
This book is beautifully written with laughs, drama and a sexy and very soulful romance. I loved being back in this world with these characters, and I enjoyed every minute of their journey.

And an absolutely beautiful conclusion to Aimee and Kes’ amazing story that began in The Traveling Man.
Sequels or conclusions to a much-loved story are always slightly terrifying to read, so after adoring The Traveling Man as much as I did, I was understandably nervous going into this one, but Jane Harvey-Berrick has done a fantastic job with this book, and I am one very happily satisfied little reader!
This review may be a little bit spoilery if you haven’t read The Traveling Man, and you definitely need to read that book before you dive into this one. And why wouldn’t you? It’s a beautiful story that captured my heart from the very start, and that same feeling of being immersed into something very special is continued here. And I can happily say that that god-awful cliffy is resolved very early on, leaving us the rest of the book to get lost in the wonder that is Kes, Aimee, their circle of family and friends and the crazy, magical world that they inhabit.
Once again the story is told from Aimee’s POV, and it picks up a month after the end of the last book . Best friends since childhood, Aimee and Kes are still madly in love, but they are very different people who inhabit very different worlds, and with their being together requiring one of them to sacrifice so much, they have a battle on their hands to figure out how they can possibly make a life together.
His element was the air around him. I had roots and he had wings – could they ever work together?
I love this relationship! It’s not all rainbows and unicorns, it’s hard work, and Kes himself is hard work. He’s not a perfect boyfriend, he’s stubborn and aggressive with a short fuse and they argue and fight, but their love and passion for each other is out of control, and simply put – they are best friends and soul mates, so while part of their being together is effortless, they still have to fight for it, and I loved seeing that.

It's been a month since Aimee made her decision to pursue her dreams of teaching back in New Hampshire, but she is utterly lonely and miserable without Kes. They are two people in love who come from complete opposite backgrounds and Aimee doesn't know what to do for the best.
When Kes appears out of the blue at her home, she is thrilled to see him but she is confused as to what it all means. Kes has 6 weeks until he needs to go back to California for his next show, and wants to spend that time figuring out how to make it work for their relationship.
Once the initial excitement wears off, Aimee can see how trapped Kes feels living in her world. The life in his eyes has dulled and only lights up again when they are together. She can see that he needs to travel and live in the open, it's in his blood and there is nothing she can do that will change that.
She needs to decide if she can be the one who changes her lifestyle. As much as she enjoyed her summer with the carnival, she is absolutely scared stiff of packing up her life and belongings and having nowhere to call home.

We get to learn all about Kes's secrets that he has been hiding, and although he still often gets frustrated with his dyslexia he isn't as quick to jump down Aimee's throat as he was in the past. He is learning to trust again and he will do anything to make Aimee happy, she is his home.

This is a continuation of The Traveling Man, and it takes place a month after book 1 ended.
Aimee is having second thoughts about the decision she made. She thought she had to stick with her dream of being a teacher and have stability. But without Kes, she's wondering what kind of life she'll have if she's not with her best friend and love. The couple are total opposites, but they complete one another.
Decisions and sacrifices will have to be made.
What will become of the man who can't stay still and craves the open road, and the woman who who has worked so hard to have the perfect life full of security?
Just when everything seems to be looking positive, tragedy occurs, and their lives will change forever.
Reading the two of these books back to back was like one long book. The two parts ran together seamlessly, and I am glad both installments were out when I started.
I was a little leery in the beginning for this one. Even though I was quite enjoying the story and the writing, I wasn't as pulled into it as I was with the first book. When I reached the 60% mark, events took a turn and I was sucked in by what was taking place. I stayed up 'til the wee hours just because I had to finish it.
For me, the second book was more emotional than the first. I admit some tears were shed as some things absolutely broke my heart.
If you're familiar with the works of JHB, this had a cameo from a couple from one of her other books, which was sweet surprise.
I loved getting to know this couple and truly enjoyed this duet. As I was so wrapped up with not only the MC's but the side characters as well, the epilogue left a little to be desired. I definitely wanted more information on what the future held for everyone.
Overall, a wonderful read!

The Traveling Woman continua narrando la historia de Kes y Aimee y empieza casi inmediatamente donde termino el libro anterior.
La verdad es que tenia muchisimas ganas de leer esta continuacion, ya no solo porque el final de The Traveling Man me dejo con la boca abierta sino tambien porque estas novelas han resultado ser mucho mas entretenidas de lo que imaginaba, por eso me molesta tanto reconocer que esta segunda parte no me gusto tanto como su antecesora, no me malentiendan, es una lectura ligera y agradable pero no me atrapo tanto como el primer libro.
Aimee y Kes siguen siendo una pareja bastante buena, y me gusto sobretodo que en esta ocasion vemos un poco mas de sacrificio por parte de Kes para conseguir estar con Aimee, ya que desde mi punto de vista era ella quien siempre parecia poner mas de su parte en la relacion.
En resumen, una buena novela New Adult, sobretodo si te apetece leer una historia de amor sin tantos cliches.
P. D. : Ame la parte en la que aparecieron Daniel y Lisanne, no me habia dado cuenta de que esta saga estaba relacionada con Dangerous To Know & Love y que este Zef era el hermano mayor de Daniel, ahora tengo aun mas ganas de leer su libro.

Kes and Aimee’s story began in the 5 star; The Traveling Man and concludes in The Travelling Woman, a story of two people wanting to make their relationship work, yet struggling to live in the other’s very different world. Kes is the adrenaline seeking junkie with wanderlust in his blood and Aimee’s the girl who craves a sense of calmness and stability in her life. Can their love conquer all obstacles? Could you take that big leap of faith to follow your heart?
‘His element was the air around him. I had roots and he had wings – could they ever work together?’
There was much we enjoyed in the Traveling Woman and it brought a fitting resolution to Kes and Aimee’s journey, but sadly in The Traveling Woman, we didn’t experience the same heartfelt, bone crushing emotion and wide eyed magic we felt in The Traveling Man.
‘Kes wasn’t safe. He wasn’t a sensible choice. He made my heart race, and swoop, and die a little. When I was near him, I burned. When he was far away, my blood moved sluggishly.’
The beginning of The Traveling Woman felt a little stilted and lacked the fluidity and cohesiveness of the first book however this was later remedied and our emotions were once again tested as Kes and Aimee’s journey continued on its way with the latter part of the story bringing us a closer to the dizzying heights and magical feel we experienced in book one.
‘Kes’s love was hard and uncompromising. Love to him was fierce, not soft and yielding.’
Our overall love for this series guarantees The Traveling Duet will always be a series recommend from us. Kes and Aimee’s story is one we wouldn’t have missed for the world!

Oh, where to start with this one???
Quite honestly, I’m struggling for words to describe how I feel about this one. This book left me with a jumble of feelings, all good of course. Yes, all good, even with the ups and downs this took me, but I think they just sometimes feel so real, both the ups and downs, that it’s leaving me almost at a loss for words, if that makes sense.
This is the continuation of Kes and Aimee’s story. We were left with a cliffhanger in The Traveling Man and the beginning of this story showed what happened shortly after. If the first book focused mostly on Kes’ world, here, we also got a glimpse of Aimee’s world, and as small a portion as that may have been, it’s quite interesting to see the dynamics given the 2 clearly different world they inhabit. And what happens after, you’re just gonna have to read.
Still told from Aimee’s POV, Jane took me for a ride and showed what happened after these 2 took a(nother) chance on love… sigh…
Aimee really stood out for me here, with the actions she took, the decisions she made, and the struggle she went thru. Her decisions took balls and for me, it showed the extent of her feelings for Kes.
Kes has always been the star for me from the beginning. He was never this perfect guy, yet with the sincerity of his words and actions, even the imperfect ones, and the innocence that somehow never left him, I fell just as hard for him as Aimee did.
I have to say that this was a slow burn. It feels like nothing extreme was happening for a while. It was more about how they navigate with their daily lives. Then as the other shoe dropped, as they say, I did get worried. I was worried for these 2 kids. Things just had to work out, they had to!
After reading this, I just felt all gooey inside. Can’t help it, really. Kes and Aimee’s story is just so darn sweet. It doesn’t mean that it’s all rainbows and unicorns because it wasn’t. Believe me, it wasn’t! But it shows what ‘true love’ can be and do. Some may buy it, some may not. Some may roll their eyes, some may not. Me? I bought every bit of it. I was happy when they were happy; sad when they were sad; and cried when they cried. I was there with them at every turn of their emotional ride.
Needless to say, quite a happy camper here, you betcha!

My perspective has completely changed, and I hope to take a ride on the Ferris Wheel every chance I get.

In my review of The Traveling Man I mentioned that Jane raises the ordinary to extraordinary. And Jane continues doing so in The Traveling Woman. Living for a few hours inside her books, certainly makes us think that life is indeed the most extraordinary thing, exactly for the fact that even in the most ordinary situations we can find magic in them!
This book was different than The Traveling Man, I could feel the difference, but not in a bad way. The way the story unfolded and the characters went on, were different than in The Traveling Man. Also the feelings it evoked from me. Yes, I could feel the love between Kes and Aimee, I could feel the magic, but I also could feel, much more than ever, how real Kes and Aimee's love is.
" I call it a carnival, and the people you meet are one of the best things about it. The people you travel with become your family."
At the same time, The Traveling Man was pure magic, it was like The Traveling Woman is pure reality. It has the magic, because once the Carnival is in your heart the magic will never leave you (and that serves for us readers too, I'm not sure this magical story will ever leave my heart). But it's like Kes and Aimee now have to deal with "real life". Their lifes were real before, but now, I felt that things got much more real for them.
Falling in love isn't enough, they now have to live in love!!!
This book was powerful in a whole different level, it broke my heart and mended every little piece of it. Oh my God, no one knows how to make a story flow like Jane does!! The way she combines words and make this beautiful sentences and quotes? That's true magic, folks!!! She combines words in an unparallel way, it's like she weaves this words and with them she glued every piece of my heart that was broken. Her flow seems so effortless and the result are flawless and beautiful sentences that warms ourselves from the heart out!
The Traveling Woman hit real close to home so to me, it felt extremely real, because I knew all that happened there could actually happen in real life and taking a real life experience and turning it into magic...that my friends, it's only for real talented authors!
By now I must sound like a broken record when it comes to Jane's abilities to write this real and raw stories, but some of them just really, truly find themselves glued to a little special place in my heart. And The Traveling Duet is for sure one of those! Speaking of those stories, I LOVED seeing my boy (one of my favorite characters of Jane's , of a story that is stuck on my special place) appearing in this book and interacting there! I loved the glimpse to his (and his girl) future, they seem more mature, specially her. LOVED that, Jane!!
Remember I said in my review of The Traveling Man that I started crying because I was so overwelmed by the sheer beauty in it? Well, I messaged Jane again (I feel like I'm so annoying) to say I was crying. I was crying the kind of tears only her can get out of me. The Traveling Woman is the perfect conclusion to Kes and Aimee's story.
The Traveling Woman is all about the magic, but not the circus magic, but the real life magic. It's like we get to see their real lives after the magic, but they haven't lost the magic, they just faced reality. And the way they faced it? With brutal honesty and without fears, it was all because they got the magic in them!
"But the best part is waking up every morning and seeing the Ferris wheel reaching up to the sky. I see that and I know that I've come home."
Kes is a difficult man, but it was amazing to see how he realised that himself and he changed the way he approached things, all for Aimee. And Aimee changed too, I loved seeing how she could face she didn't need to change her life for Kes, but if she did change it, it was her choice. She was a bit more mature in this book, in the sense that she finally understood that Kes wasn't going to change because she wanted, he had to want it too! It was beautiful seeing them growing up from the kids to teens and to young adults in The Traveling Man. But to me it was even more beautiful to see them growing up as individuals and as partners. It was an inner growth that we could see glowed from their outsides.
I feel like I understand Kes and his struggles so much more now! And I feel like Aimee too understand them better now. She knew them, but I get the feeling she finally really "got"them!
I felt very happy after finishing this book. I hate seeing books ending, but in the end of The Traveling Woman I felt this feeling of contentment I so rarely do! I mean, of course I'd love more Aimee and Kes, but I loved how their story ended. I love how they didn't jump on a white horse and rode to the rainbow or something...I loved that this ended in such a real way, that felt just so right!!
" 'It's true,' I said quietly. ' You drive me crazy, and not always in a good way, but no one has ever loved me the way you do.'
[...] Kes love was hard and uncompromising. Love to him was fierce, not soft and yielding. But for me, he was willing to compromise. For me, he was willing to bend. And I loved him all the more for that."
Jane's stories make you change your perspective on life and how to live. They are not meant to be fables and give you any moral lessons in the end, but they do. And they do it in a subtle way that makes you want to aim for the ordinary, because it is it that is extraordinary. Everything truly is extraordinary in real life if you have a Jane Harvey-Berrick book in your hands!!!
Thank you once again, Jane for making me happy I read your books! This contentment I feel after this story is such a warm and pure feeling and so fresh, I wish I found it in every book I read in my life. My heart is all warm and fuzzy from reading this story (in both books). So I toast you and your stories Jane! Thank you for being different among the sea of the same things we see lately. And the coolest part? You're different not from writing anything different, but exactly for the fact that you write what we experience in real life, we can see you write from the heart and so this heart of mine thanks you for opening up a new special place for Kes and Aimee and always the ferris wheel!!

Finding the words to describe how I feel right now . . . It's impossible, But Here I go. Jane Harvey Berrick always Delivers. Her stories are amazing and always have a message.

Kes and Aimee’s story began in the 5 star; The Traveling Man and concludes in The Travelling Woman, a story of two people wanting to make their relationship work, yet struggling to live in the other’s very different world. Kes is the adrenaline seeking junkie with wanderlust in his blood and Aimee’s the girl who craves a sense of calmness and stability in her life. Can their love conquer all obstacles? Could you take that big leap of faith to follow your heart?
‘His element was the air around him. I had roots and he had wings – could they ever work together?’
There was much we enjoyed in the Traveling Woman and it brought a fitting resolution to Kes and Aimee’s journey, but sadly in The Traveling Woman, we didn’t experience the same heartfelt, bone crushing emotion and wide eyed magic we felt in The Traveling Man.
‘Kes wasn’t safe. He wasn’t a sensible choice. He made my heart race, and swoop, and die a little. When I was near him, I burned. When he was far away, my blood moved sluggishly.’
The beginning of The Traveling Woman felt a little stilted and lacked the fluidity and cohesiveness of the first book however this was later remedied and our emotions were once again tested as Kes and Aimee’s journey continued on its way with the latter part of the story bringing us a closer to the dizzying heights and magical feel we experienced in book one.
‘Kes’s love was hard and uncompromising. Love to him was fierce, not soft and yielding.’
Our overall love for this series guarantees The Traveling Duet will always be a series recommend from us. Kes and Aimee’s story is one we wouldn’t have missed for the world!

Kes is willing to fight for their love, and has proved his commitment by taking a sabbatical from the carnival circuit. I'm just sad that this journey is over.... But it was an amazing journey....
I loved how Kes and Aimee faced their obstacles.... Aimee has roots and Kes has wings, is it possible for them to find balance??? This book tells us the answer.... It tells us if their love is enough to keep them together or not... I just loved it....

Another brilliant sequel by the equally brilliant Jane Harvey-Berrick.
Like everybody reading The Traveling Man, I was gutted when we got to the end and Kes and Aimee weren't together. They were meant to be, but circumstances made it too difficult for their lives to mingle and work together. So far. I knew that the pair of them just had to make their way back to each other, but I wouldn't have been able to guess who would be the one to bend just that little bit more, for the other. Who would give up their life as they knew it? I was excited to find out.
Kes is one of my favourite book boyfriends and I loved this particularly because we got to delve deeper in to his life, his past and what makes him tick now, in the present. His life is so interesting and I was excited reading about his particular 'way of life'. He hasn't had it easy, by any means, but he gets on with life in the best way he can. And his love for Aimee was even more special to read about. Both Kes and Aimee tried each other's life, to see which worked for who, and I loved that about them. Their relationship was fair in so many ways.
In this series finale, I think it's so plain to see that both characters have grown. Kes still has struggles everyday with his dyslexia, but he doesn't get as short and angry with Aimee has he did in the first book. Aimee has also changed, in the sense that she doesn't have a stick up her ar$e as much as she did in the past. She is far more relaxed about life. It was great to see their character growth.
I only really have one minor complaint. There is a major thing that happens towards the end of the book, which is awful. Not in a relationship way, just in a general.. "why the hell is this happening" way. I feel like it was just kind of.. unnecessary. It didn't add too much to the story, IMO, and without it, the book could have been shorter, or maybe just a different storyline. It just felt like unnecessary angst. Still, I enjoyed the book and thought it was a brilliant sequel.

Kes and Aimee’s story is not a whirlwind romance, and neither is it filled with cookie cutter homes with white picket fences and fresh smelling roses; this is a love story thwarted with challenges. A story of how two people so different, both flawed in their own ways, come together in the most electrifying manner. One a free bird, living off the rush, the scent of danger an alluring pull - the other, an educated school teacher with student debt and a penchant for doing what others expect.
The Traveling Man was very much a coming of age romance that started in childhood and carried on into adulthood after an 8-year separation. One could say that the second part of this story actually started when Kes and Aimee met again in their early 20’s, but the formula completely changes in this concluding part, because the first was very enchanted, magical and held an innocent air, but they were both pulling in different directions and neither seemed willing to concede.
The Traveling Woman is more about becoming grounded. Finding the perfect balance between what your head believes is right, whilst your heart telling you what you need, and in this instance there is only one answer...
The magical thrall is turned down a notch in this book but that doesn’t make it any less powerful, if anything we watch the connection grow, as Kes and Aimee learn to become one and finally take that final ride together, and one that is quite simply, unforgettable.

This series captivated me and worked its magic on me and I absolutely did not want to see it end!! The Traveling Woman is the second part of a two part series. The Traveling Man is the first book must be read before this one.
“Real life” has now taken hold of Kes and Aimee and the question becomes, can Kes be truly happy and satisfied living in one place for a long period of time? He is a carnie, it is in his blood, and Aimee realizes that once they have spent time together in her home. These two truly love each other, and neither one wants the other to sacrifice their dreams for the other.
“I’d always thought of him as my personal sun, feeling warmed just by being near him—that hadn’t changed. I knew that I was still in love with Kes—that hadn’t changed either, but it didn’t mean that we were right for each other.”
Aimee knows that Kes has the wanderlust in him and that he will never be truly at home in her world. He settles in but grows restless and bored and she knows he is beginning to feel caged in.
“His happiness made me wistful. He was at home here—this was his world. I could see him watching the carnies and performers with a deep longing plain on his face. Kes needed to create magic and he couldn’t do it in my world. In my calm, ordered, routine life, Kes was a kingfisher among a flock of pigeons.”
This book is filled with beautiful writing, heartbreaking events and relationships that will be broken and healed again. I cannot recommend this brilliant series highly enough! Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen with Aimee and Kes, the author took me on a surprising, breathtaking journey, one which I did not want to end. If you are looking for writing with real depth and substance, then I highly recommend The Traveling Duet. Aimee and Kes will thrill you and entrance you all at the same time. One of my favorite series ever!!

I am a little heartbroken after reading The Traveling Woman (The Traveling Duet #2). I was so in love with The Traveling Man, maybe my expectations were too high... The Traveling Man was such an amazing book with such a deep and emotional story that I just had to have more!
The Traveling Woman, is a good book. It picks up right where The Traveling Man ends and tells a story of its own in present day with Kes & Amiee trying to make it work in one another's world. Kes is still Kes; the crazy circus man who can't stay in one town very long while Amiee is the more level headed school teacher who wants a little bit of both in her life. I love these two together and totally understood how and why they fell in love. Like in most second books, there was just too much of the lovey dovey stuff. I wanted more of the drama, the back and forth on their feelings and future between the couple before their happily ever after. There is drama but Kes & Amiee are too busy having sexy to let drama get in the way! I just needed a little bit more of a storyline to go along with the sex.
Kes & Amiee have really grown the past 15 years since they first met. I loved reading about their adventures and seeing them grow from 10 year-olds with crushes to adults in love. I would have liked an epilogue at the end. The Traveling Woman did it!! It pulled me back and it gave back the magic. I'm happy now.
I have to say this was certainly a really good series to start this year off. I enjoyed the first book, first half yes, second half left me feeling unsure and the second novel has left me with YES!!! Yes yes yes!
I enjoyed the plotline through out this novel. Predictable in knowing what was going to happen yes but you know what? That doesn't matter. Not one little bit. Because I cared for the main character's, I wanted them to work everything out, if anyone deserved each other it was those two and I wanted them to have their happily ever after. I loved seeing their relationship grow and the Kes's attitudes change and watching him having to adapt to new situations.
And the sexual chemistry between them both? All I can say is and although I know she is a made up fictional character, but she is a lucky lady! In more ways than one.
I also enjoyed seeing more of the secondary character's that played a bigger role in this novel. They certainly helped set the scene and didn't overstep the role when the time came for them to show up throughout the story.
Overall a great story that I devoured in one sitting this afternoon. I almost wish we could see the ending of Kes and Aimee a couple of years later however I may see this when I read the third book which centres around a secondary character this time. So I shall plough on! :)
The Traveling Woman did it!! It pulled me back and it gave back the magic. I'm happy now.
I have to say this was certainly a really good series to start this year off. I enjoyed the first book, first half yes, second half left me feeling unsure and the second novel has left me with YES!!! Yes yes yes!
I enjoyed the plotline through out this novel. Predictable in knowing what was going to happen yes but you know what? That doesn't matter. Not one little bit. Because I cared for the main character's, I wanted them to work everything out, if anyone deserved each other it was those two and I wanted them to have their happily ever after. I loved seeing their relationship grow and the Kes's attitudes change and watching him having to adapt to new situations.
And the sexual chemistry between them both? All I can say is and although I know she is a made up fictional character, but she is a lucky lady! In more ways than one.
I also enjoyed seeing more of the secondary character's that played a bigger role in this novel. They certainly helped set the scene and didn't overstep the role when the time came for them to show up throughout the story.
Overall a great story that I devoured in one sitting this afternoon. I almost wish we could see the ending of Kes and Aimee a couple of years later however I may see this when I read the third book which centres around a secondary character this time. So I shall plough on! :)

It's Magical...It's 5+++++ Stars...Both Traveling Man and Traveling Woman are both in my top five favorite books of all time!
My favorite line: "When I was a little girl I'd stare out my window at Mr. Petersons field, watching, waiting for you. Waiting for my shooting star to dazzle me. You shone so bright, you flew so high, and I couldn't believe you picked me!"
That's exactly what happened. Kes brought Aimee light and life from the time she was ten years old. They fought and loved and I'll always believe in their magic. I refuse to give any spoilers so I'll leave you with just one thought. Read and believe, because with in these written words is a story that will touch your heart. It's a touch of magic...a spark of hope, and you too will believe in those God given magical miracles. Enjoy!! :)

The Traveling Woman picks up where The Traveling Man leaves off. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive going in. I was so worried the author was going to drag out the entire book before That said there is angst but we see the story come full circle , we watch both Aimee and Kes grow and become adults -making grown up decisions.
As much as I wanted to throttle Aimee's complacency with life and her future , she was just doing /reacting to what life had shown her. She was still so young and inexperienced, still learning and foraging her way through. The hurt taught her one thing when they were forced apart so many years ago, play it safe. She strived to not be that complacent woman like her mother yet the more she ran the more she became the same. And the more she ran to the same situation....Gregg.
" Kes’s love was hard and uncompromising. Love to him was fierce, not soft and yielding."
Kes was placed in this world for Aimee just like Aimee was placed in the crazy carni world for Kes. The author unfolds this story in such a way that the reader realizes the most important revelation at the same time Aimee does:
"When he performs, he is all of us, the person we wish we could be. He is the hero in all of us.”
When the cold hard German Hilde matter of factly states so perfectly what everyone sees in Kes and what makes him shine so bright the puzzle pieces start to descend on Aimee and the reader. Realization dawns , without the carnival life and family there is no spark, shine, or life.
The vibrant adventurous Kes is also affected by the 8 years , gone is the charisma and spunk that was part of Kes and we see how jaded he also becomes. Both have had to deal with different types of abandonment but what each of them has survived and learned from is ironically how they end up saving each other.
"because that’s what soulmates are: two bodies with one spirit. Nothing could separate us, not even death. Because that’s just another part of the journey."
One of my favorite lines , and there are just too many to list with the colorful characters in this story:
“Oh my God! Do they have a special laboratory where they make smokin’ hot motorcycle riders?”
I love this series and book two is no exception. I will actually miss Kes and Aimee. JHB writing is just ....WOW. she makes it seem so easy. The words in her story just flow so smoothly and fit so perfectly together. What a fantastic story and so colorful. I will be jumping into Tucker's story soon and all of JHB's other works.

Leggere e vivere per qualche ora nei libri della Harvey ci fa pensare che la vita sia una delle cose più straordinarie che possano esistere, proprio perché l'autrice è in grado di creare eventi ordinari che si elevano in straordinario. "La Viandante" è più profondo e intenso rispetto al primo: si sentono le emozioni dei protagonisti, la loro sofferenza, il loro amore struggente che è più forte del tempo e delle difficoltà. Si, ho sentito l'amore di Kes e Aimee e la magia dei loro sentimenti. Questo libro mi ha spezzato il cuore e successivamente lo ha ricucito pezzo dopo pezzo. E' stato un viaggio bellissimo, accidentato per i diversi eventi che si sono susseguiti uno dopo l'altro, un viaggio di redenzione, di seconde possibilità e di speranza e grazie a questa esperienza entrambi i protagonisti sono maturati molto. Kes è un uomo difficile, ha avuto molte difficoltà nella sua vita, ha sofferto molto ma ha amato tanto solo Aimee. E' stato incredibile vedere il suo cambiamento, come ha esternato i suoi sentimenti, le sue emozioni e il senso protettivo verso Aimee. Anche Aimee, dal canto suo, è cambiata, ha affrontato tutti i demoni di Kes, gli è stata vicino quando lui la allontanava e non ha smesso nessuno un secondo di amarlo. E' stato interessante vederli crescere da bambini ad adolescenti, fino a diventare adulti. Ma è stato ancora più incredibile vederli crescere come individui e come partner: Kes e le sue lotte interiori, Aimee e la sua comprensione. Ho apprezzato questo finale perché non è uno dei soliti "e vissero felici e contenti": è un finale reale, che prevede diverse difficoltà, litigi, ma tanto amore. L'amore di Kes per Aimee è stato feroce, forte, lui prende tutto e dona tutto. Ho aspettato con ansia l'uscita di questo romanzo e la storia ha superato tutte le mie aspettative. La storia mi ha toccato nel profondo più di qualsiasi altro libro che io abbia mai letto. Non so se il motivo dipenda dalla loro storia intensa e tormentata, dalla magia del loro amore o dalla passione, dai sogni o dal viaggio che hanno compiuto insieme. So solo che ho amato la storia dall'inizio fino alla fine, ho amato Kes e Aimee nei loro sbagli e nelle loro azioni corrette, ho amato le loro imperfezioni e mi sono emozionata tanto.
