Portia Rothschild had it all in her own small-town way growing up in the cornfields of the vast Midwest, but it didn’t last. Now that she’s a young woman, she’s determined to right the wrongs that rendered her and her family broken. But when she’s presented with a real opportunity to do just that, the plan to play ‘decoy’ quickly changes everything she thought she knew about revenge—and love. Her objective might be to entrap a powerful man, but that very man has laid a trap of his own, one that Portia can’t say she minds getting caught in.
If she knew where this was heading, she never would have shown up…
Nathan Cromwell has acquired a taste for a certain type of woman, but experience has taught the wealthy venture capitalist that his proclivities are impossible to satisfy… That is, until he engages the services of The Infidelity Corporation and is matched with an enigmatic young woman who guarantees she can and will ‘be anyone he wants her to be’. But what if he wants her to see the real Nathan—the man without the mask—and reveal her true self to him as well? Will she run scared or surrender to his brutal affection?
No one is who they seem…
With classic twists, turns, deceptions, and devotions true to Aleatha Romig’s epic Infidelity series, this romantic-suspense novella can be read in under two hours. So, break out the wine and draw the curtains closed. It’s time to get ‘Aleatha’d’ like never before.
An author of sleuth mysteries and dark psychological thrillers, Mira can be found most days working in the sunshine of beautiful Long Beach, NY where she dreams up one-of-a-kind characters and writes intriguing stories that are filled with unsuspecting tenderness.
I Loved Decoy, there was so much story to it I could of read it as a full novel. Portia has a plan and uses the Infidelity corporation to gain access to her target. Her brother was killed and she wants revenge. Nathan Cromwell of the Cromwell corporation is who Portia gets matched with. He has dark needs but keeps the monster inside of him tamed. As I said so much story to this book and the ending keeps you wondering... it’s open ended. Much like Aleatha’s book Insidious. 5 Stars ⭐️
I love the Fidelity World and all it entails... But I especially love The Infidelity Corp., the premise of the business and it's clients intrigue me...it's a secret indulgence. Decoy by Mira Gibson does not disappoint. A standalone novella of a couple matched through Infidelity. Portia is a gorgeous, mid-western girl who signs up with Infidelity Corp for one purpose...or maybe it's more than one. Nathan has secrets of his own and they will come to light when he buys Portia s services.I But will she be more than he can handle... Or vice versa?
The author is perfectly descriptive with great world building and character development for such a short story. I was immersed from the very beginning and couldn't read fast enough. To me, the story has an open ending. Something the author could expand on if the characters wanted to continue their tale. I would love to read more .
Portia manipulated her way into Infidelity, seemingly pulling the wool over Karen's eyes to be matched with the man she holds responsible for her brother's death and by way of that, her parents too. But, as we've learned more than a time or two, things are rarely what they appear. Will she realize it before it's too late? Will Portia and Nathan be able to make it to the end of their term? Do they stand a fighting chance at something more than just an agreement? You'll have to one click and find out. :)
For a short novella, this quick read had all the action, suspense, twists and turns of a full length novel. Well developed characters and fantastic story, I really wished this story was longer!! The story of Portia and Nathan takes us on another intriguing contractual agreement. However, the motives behind agreeing are not within the regular norms. So when they begin their arrangement things get interesting and they soon discover there's more to them than what they thought. Is Portia still going to carry out her original plan? You'll have to read and find out.
A quick read, this little book has just ten chapters. This novella's story line is great, but I needed more. Portia wasn't supposed to fall in love with Nathan. One to three more chapters would've had us really seeing Portia and Nathan truly fall in love. If you enjoy Aleatha Romig-style books then you'll enjoy Decoy. I wanted to like this little novella more than I did... 3.5 stars.
The entire Fidelity World series just blew me away, but this is one of my favorites for sure!! Portia and Nathan were so... just wow!! Portia blames Nathan for her brother's death so she manipulates her way into Infidelity to get her revenge. What happens next is epic!
