Futaba 16/18SZ Programming for Fixed Wing Aircraft

Rate this book
Following the very successful 14SG Programming Guide this book follows the same pattern. Packed with over 250 new screenshots, step-by-step guides and helpful tips, it is invaluable to expert and novice alike. A detailed reference section explains and illustrates the use of each of the transmitter’s features. For ease of cross-reference it mirrors the order of the Futaba manual. Finding information is easy with direct links from the contents pages and the ability to search. The well-illustrated guides explain “why” rather than just “how”. They provide clear instructions on how to prepare a model for flight. In the process, they should help the novice gain an understanding of the principles behind the programming of these very versatile radios and develop the confidence to explore their more complex features. In addition to the detailed reference section the appendices cover the following topics :- Getting started on the Futaba 16SZ/18SZ – Programming a Trainer Aeroplane Programming a four-servo wing electric glider A simple two-stage flap setup Flying wings Offset mixing – A retractable undercarriage with sequenced doors Setting up twin I/C engines Differential engine control of twin-engined models Rate switches for mixes – extending the use of fine tuners Logic and symmetry - An example of complex switching Harmonising twin servos on one control surface Using the alternate switch feature - A single channel emulator Custom warnings Multiple points from 2 switches for mode selection Bookmarking the telemetry data log Much of the content is equally applicable to helicopters but please note that those features which relate solely to helicopter programming are not covered.

I left my native Yorkshire and moved to Newcastle upon Tyne in 1976. One marriage and four children later I am still there. No-one could ever accuse me of just passing through. During the 1990s I contributed regularly to ‘The Mag’, a Newcastle United fanzine, and I also had articles published in the ‘Sunday Sun’, a regional newspaper.
My first stab at crime writing came in 1998 when my novel ‘In the Nick of Tyne’ was published by Falcon Books. A few copies were sold but it has now become something of a collectors’ item. There may still be the odd copy lurking out there somewhere, if you can find one. My first real success at writing came in 2004 and 2005 with the football books ‘Magpie Memories’ and ‘More Magpie Memories’ respectively, both published by Breedon Books.
Late in 2010 I took very early retirement from the day job, working in community mental health, and decided to resume my love of writing. I had always been a fan of the crime fiction genre, so it seemed a natural direction for me. ‘Hard Drive’, my first book published on Amazon Kindle in February 2012, is a collection of six crime stories from Tyneside.
I will be publishing the crime novellas ‘27’ and ‘Red Light’ in 2012 as well as the humorous novella ‘Bulldozers and Dirt’, closely followed by two fun travel books, ‘Boots, Chaps and Cowboy Hats’ and ‘Fishing for Gators’. It will be a busy year.
I write for fun. I'd never make a living out of it.....
