Kidnapping is a hinky business, fraught with pitfalls. Under normal circumstances, Donovan Creed wouldn’t kidnap a family pet, much less a high-profile target. But Creed’s billion-dollar Swiss bank account has been cleaned out by an unknown hacker, leaving him virtually broke for the first time in his adult life. For this reason, against his better judgment, he accepts $8 million to kidnap the President’s daughter. The good news is the client wants her killed immediately after the kidnapping. Except…what if keeping her alive is the key to getting his money back?
PRELIMINARY
“Best Creed book ever! A joy from start to finish.”
“Locke’s ability to make me turn the pages kept me up the whole friggin’ night. Damnit!”
“If you like Donovan Creed, you’ll love this kickass novel, The President’s Daughter. It’s Creed and Callie at their best. I loved it!”
“Like all John’s books, this one is smart, sassy, and keeps you guessing throughout. He lulls you into thinking you know what’s going to happen next, but you never do. And it’s not your fault. It just proves you’re sane, and he’s not. I see where readers are always asking how he comes up with this stuff. Personally, I don’t want to know!”

John Locke certainly knows how to write an engaging story that reads smoothly, isn't filled with unnecessary plot, and can always surprise the reader. Let me start off by saying, I write these reviews to remember my reaction to them in the future. So this review will certainly be riddled with spoilers.
Annalise is the beloved daughter to a hated president whom Donovan is contracted to kidnap for 8 million dollars. It's a job he can't afford to refuse after his billion dollar savings was hacked into and drained. With a very expensive lifestyle he needs to manage, he's taking whatever jobs he can get. So Donovan, with the help of Callie, devise a kidnapping plot that involves the murder of just about everyone involved. The midget that barely helped? Can't be trusted. Their body doubles Punch and Judy? Expendable. The Uber driver? A nobody anyways. This book really nailed home the point that if Donovan or Callie enter your life, you're already dead. Even if they liked you. Even if you didn't deserve it.
I appreciate how Donovan ages as the series progresses and his body's limitations due to age isn't ignored. Yet he continues to be incredibly capable finding new and incredibly clever ways to get what he needs. After Donovan finds out that General Barry, the man who hired him to kidnap Annalise, was the man that stole Donovan's money - he became Donnovan's next target. Donovan ruins the General's kidnapping plans, demands his money back, kills a bunch of his associates, and threatens his life. The general retaliates by framing Donovan and Callie for the kidnapping. Touche General. I'm sure our killers will manage to get out of this somehow

Hitman, Donovan Creed, finds the billion dollars in his Swiss bank account missing, and his wife tries to kill him. To add insult to injury, a mobster offers him $1500 to kill a dog that bit him. Eventually, the president’s chief of staff offers him eight million to kidnap president’s daughter. Well, a guy has to make a living, so he takes the job, only to discover that this has been in works for years, and a veritable troop of look-alikes and body doubles are on the government’s payroll. Creed’s overly complex plan evaporates when the president’s daughter voluntarily lets herself be kidnapped.
Okay, it’s a silly story. Now, I’m not one to criticize a silly story. I may have been guilty of writing one or two myself. The President’s Daughter, however, is a bit much. Creed and his partner, Callie, have sex with and kill everyone they meet. The body count is astronomical, and I only recall disposing of two bodies, yet no one seems too concerned to arrest them. The wackiness aside, this book has some issues that don’t appeal to me. It bounces back and forth from past tense to present tense, and it shifts viewpoints from first person narration by the main character to third person narration by unimportant characters. It has its bright moments and a few flashes of humor. Mr. Locke is not shy about claiming some pretty impressive credentials, including million-seller status. This is apparently true. That worries me about the nature of the reading public, but I can’t fault his success.
When I saw this new release from one of my favorite author, I was both excited and apprehensive.
Reading a John Locke book is kind of like when you were little and you spun around in circles really fast.
You're full of excitement, anticipation, and even a little apprehension. You know there'll be a physical and mental toll from it but the thought of stopping never enters your mind. Starts out with some giggling, then a few laughs slip out, suddenly there's that nausea feeling in the pit of your stomach, and finally, your brain starts asking what the hell is going on as you try to get back to solid ground.
Creed's back. He's going through some personal difficulties making him an easy target. A once trusted contact has a job for him just when he needed it most. He should have known that when it seems to good to be true that it probably is.
The gangs all here in this book, Callie his trusted side-kick, confident and stone cold killer, Danni Ripper, the private eye most famous for escaping after being held prisoner as a youngster, Rose, the mysterious witch, and Hawley, Donovan's daughter who has the unusual ability to make your head explode if you anger her.
It's a roller coaster ride of craziness that is a perfect addition to the series that I've lauded far and wide.
I love Donovan Creed stories. I devour within hours of downloading them. This book, like the others, has fun dialogue, outlandish missions, quirky victims, and insane killers. Callie and Donovan team up in this book, which is always a great formula.
As usual, Locke throws in lots of timely references such as a Trump-like president, with a daughter whose clothing line is made in oversees sweatshops. And he has the characters discuss his very existence, which is cute.
However....
I don't like the supernatural element. I always zone out when the story delves into the witchcraft and other nonsense. Luckily, there wasn't too much of that in this book.
The end is the usual John Locke cliffhanger, and I will read the next book as soon as it's released.
Every time I read a new John Locke novel I assume there will be nothing new that can surprise me - And, of course, I'm always wrong - - The President's Daughter is an amazing, fun, surprising, murderous novel! Locke's character, Donovan Creed along with Callie Carpenter are back and they are as lethal (and fun) as ever. Is the story really about the President's daughter? Well, yes and no - but it will keep you guessing throughout - - - it's a fun read (as all Locke's books are) - far fetched? Maybe, but maybe not! You may find yourself re-reading some lines to make sure it really says what you thought it said! But, that's the fun!
In this exciting story, Donovan Creed's life is falling apart. His billion dollar Swiss bank account has been cleaned out by an unknown hacker. Because of this he accepts $8 million dollars to kidnap the President's daughter. The client wants her immediately killed, but Creed has other plans. This story is volatile and fiery, yet riveting and funny. It's more entertaining and shocking than you'll ever imagine. Is the author a brainiac, or is he a maniac? He sure is popular!
This one does not disappoint. This delivers in all the ways one would expect a Donavon Creed book to deliver this far into the series.
There are laughs, surprises, 4th wall breaking, killing, general mayhem like we've come to expect from John Locke. And a quick read which is very nice. Mr Locke doesn't waste pages with pontification or grandious descriptions which take pages upon pages (there's even a joke about that). Just good fun action.
Thanks for the enjoyment JL, love this and Emmet's books.
Classic Locke! The latest book in the Donovan Creed series hits all the buttons.
Stories usually grow sequentially, and the novels comprising John Locke are no different.
The best way to enjoy the skill and wit of Mr. Locke is to read all of his books in the sequence they were written. Rack book stands on its own, however the reader will miss some of the hidden chuckles if the books are read out o f sequence.
Mr. Locke is fun to read. Go ahead and have so m e fun.
Not one of Lockes besr efforts.I've read pretty much everything he's written and always have enjoyed his imagination and his characters. But the presidents daughter was a bit over the top with crazy characters (eg. The dwarf, creeds daughter the witch, the other witch who is 300 years old,) a Bit much. I still love his dialogue, and Creeds total indifference to killing wherever and whenever necessary.
Waited forever for the next Creed book and it did NOT disappoint! I love these two (creed & carpenter) so much , and getting to read more of rose and howley was an added bonus. I have never came across anyone with a writing style like Locke, so if anyone else has please give me some suggestions so I have something to read in between books .
John Locke scores again with his latest Donovan Creed novel. Donovan is up to all of his bad habits, even though the assignment he is given this time involves kidnapping instead of his usual murder for hire schemes. A very quick read that you'll be sad is over so soon.
I really enjoy this author and can always depend on a quick fun read. While I enjoyed the book, I don't believe it was quite as good as past books in the series. All-in-all, still a great read after a long day.
Now I start the process of holding my breath till the next one, which when you think about is great, because that will give my sides enough time to heal from all the laughs this one gave me.
I'd forgotten how totally atypical Donovan Creed is from every character I've ever enjoyed reading. I finish a book in this series and ask myself, "is he or is he not a good guy?" All I can say is he's completely entertaining. I rate this one 4.5 stars.
The book was John Locke's usual. I'd recommend this to any reader. Great story and continuation for the series. The mixture of reality and fiction is a great balance.
Donovan Creed is a stone-cold killer. Usually, it's a killer for hire situation. This should be very dark, but Locke adds just the right amount of humor, and I am here for it!
I have always enjoyed Donovan Creed’s practical, forthright thought process and analytical economy of decision making . John has improved and increased his exposition in every one of his novels, whilst keeping a blistering pace of ingenious secondary characters all of which are 3 dimensional due to excellent back story. Always an entertaining read, lovingly executed for his reader fan base. OOO.
Well I somehow managed to read the next book in the series before this one, so obviously had an idea of how it was going to end. This is a John Locke book so it actually made very little difference at all. A fast paced roller coaster ride without the padding and fluff you get with other authors. No idea where John Locke is on the book sales or recommended author scales but he should be way out in front in both cos he is by far the best out there! Sit back ,strap yourself in and just enjoy the ride!
Great Book, it left off where # 12 ends. I just wish it did not take so long for it to come out. I am very interested to see where Mr. Locke goes with the story next. Maybe a spinoff using his Daughter? I also like how he combines people from some of his other books into the story line . I am looking forward to the next one.
