Jess’s next hunt takes him to the town of Canton, Texas. He ends up in a running shootout with his prey, Hank Dupree, and sends him straight to the devil. But during the shootout, the marshal is wounded by Dupree and now can’t perform his duties.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the deputy ends up wounded before Jess gets to leave town, leaving Canton completely unprotected from the drifters and troublemakers who seem to continue to plague the town.
Jess is asked to stay until the marshal or the deputy can resume their duties. He agrees, but has no idea of how much trouble is coming his way. It seems that every drifter and troublemaker in Texas shows up in town. Guns blaze and bodies start filling up the local cemetery.
Before he leaves the town of Canton, he has three new men to hunt, but this time it’s personal.

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
Sixty seven stories into the series and Thomas has Williams being shot more and more. Lost track of how many times Jess has been laid up but, just like TV westerns, there is a beautiful woman to nurse him back to health.
RJThas written the 67t Novel! Of the 20th century. While the man, Jess is weighed against the town citizens whom had already been faced with humans whom are deserved the wounded leader side and future living in sin.. This is an unusual Jess Williams because he becomes interested in a woman. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
What fool thinks that he can beat Jesse Williams gun draw, well, here we go again men plotting to ambush Jesse. Using the bases that he killed friends or family members, and that they were getting their revenge for the dead. A good adventure with Jesse and Shadow has made his appearance, always when Jesse needs someone covering his back. Lots of action, you'll ENJOY the plot and characters..
Ambushed: 67thin a series of Jess Williams Westerns
Another great story of Jess Williams and his saga. Never a dull moment. Jess’ side kick Shadow, turns up when Jess needs him most. Can’t wait for no. 68. My favorite western series. You will not be disappointed with this series. You should read them in order written. So, “Giddy Up.”
Very good story in #67. I liked the issue of the mining pollution of the town's water. More interesting characters to meet. How about a trip to Black Creek or Dundee soon, Mr. Thomas? I have re-read the entire series twice now and Jess is still a great companion for a cold winter's night.
Another excellent novel by this author. I almost can’t put it down, once I get started reading these novels. Now that I finished, I can’t wait for the next novel. I enjoyed reading this novel and recommend it to everyone.
Injured but not killed, Jess continues to eliminate killers. He even has a special bullet to deliver this time. Thomas always gives the readers interesting stories that are well written and fast moving. I have already started on number 68. I highly recommend this author.
Another great story from Me Thomas. Three outlaws wanting to kill Jess for killing their family members or friends. They know they cannot kill him by gunfight so they plan an ambushed to kill Jess.
