What an amazing woman Tammy Walker is. Losing her grandchildren to foster care due to allegations against her daughter in law, she fought and fought to get them back. When she finally gets guardianship, they are not the children she remembers, but two broken souls who barely remember her. It was a long and heartbreaking road to have the children trust her and begin to heal.
Münchausen syndrome by proxy is fascinating but horrifying. Most of us cannot imagine making our children sick for our own glory and attention. Most of us cannot even imagine hurting our own children. We go through life trying to shield and protect them from harm; the last thing we would do is hurt them ourselves. But then there are the other parents. The ones that should never be parents. Trisha is one of those parents. First Zander had a magnitude of hospital visits and hospital stays with life threatening symptoms. When his sister Arianna was born, she too seemed to develop these life threatening illnesses. It’s easy to sit back and say that people should have known but in reality, it often goes on for years before it’s discovered. No one expects or can imagine anyone they love harming their own children. Trisha, adopted at 8, was also broken by the demons in her past. But that’s no excuse. Trisha was nuttier than a fruitcake and manipulative and she made the lives of her children hell when they were in her care. Their father, serving in Iraq wasn’t there to see his children abused by her.
This story is heartbreaking but remarkable too. It isn’t fiction but a true story of a parent who abused her children for years but never paid the price. Her children thrive in the care of their grandmother but both have scars and Zander has been damaged irreparably from what his mother had done to him. I only wish that Trisha could be tried and serve time for what she did to those innocent kids. Great read but be prepared for an emotional ride.

Very eye opening how someone can decieve you in such a hurtful way. The author writes this story from her heart and it as if you are walking through this harrowing journey right along with her. I love her courage and the love she had for her grandchildren.

I read this for a SOCW/PSYC class- an incredibly sad story with striking similarities to the case of Gypsy Rose and I wish the author and her babies nothing but happiness for the rest of their lives

I started this book and read it in one sitting. Amazing story this author shares. It was both heartbreaking and eye opening. She does an amazing job walking you through the story of the abuse her grandchildren suffered. It makes me sick to think this kind of abuse happens. Kudos to this woman for bringing attention to this and for rescuing those babies. A must read!

A excellent book to read ... finished in about 2 hours .. couldn’t put it down.
The story is about a little spoken about topic ... Munchausen by Proxy.
Tammy has helped out her son’s girlfriend by allowing her to stay at their house ... a few strange occurrences in her stories just don’t seem right ... Trisha ends up staying there for a long time .. eventually she marries Kevin, Tammy’s only child ... Trisha becomes pregnant and has a gorgeous little boy ... but why is he always sick ... why does she not allow anyone to feed him ... look after him?
Things are not adding up ... people are getting a bit wary of the stories ...
After a lot of heartache and torment Tammy finally gets the grandkids but unfortunately it is not good news for the grandson .. a lot of damage has already been done to him!

What a wild ride of love, heartbreak, passion, tenacity and never-ending shock. I cannot imagine how emotional it was for Tammy to walk through the process of documenting and revising her personal story of triumph with regards to her grandchildren. Not one person in her story was spared from the horrifying effects of MBP, not the least of which, her grandson, Alexzander. Tens of thousands of dollars spent. Several court proceedings spanning across the country. Deception, greed, attention-seeking and manipulative behavior from the perpetrator. It absolutely blew my mind how the author was able to collect her thoughts and share them in such a thoughtful, cohesive manner in this book! Read it. Guaranteed lessons in empathy await you.

This book is so beautiful. It’s sad to know what her kids went through, but also inspiring to see how hard these kids were fought for. The love their grandmother (who I call mom now) has for these kids is limitless and what she has done for these kids literally saved their lives. God used her to show His great love for us and brings light to a topic many are unaware of. I read it in one sitting, I just couldn’t ever find a place to stop. You will love this book and love their mom (grandmother)!

It is hard to think this crazy stuff really happens. I admire this woman's spirit of not giving up. I hate that this had to happen to these children but glad they had such an advocate/Grammy to be there to pick up the pieces. I found I read this in one afternoon and could not stop until I was done. Great read

Good, informative book.
Interesting, but very disturbing story. MSBP is such a destructive personality disorder....it’s very difficult for even physicians and other professionals to diagnose. There’s a great deal of suffering for the innocent victims as long as it’s not discovered.

This was a very well written book. By the third chapter, I was so into it, I didn't want to put the book down! When the author started talking about the struggles she had to go through just to retrieve her Grandchildren, I was on the verge of tears. Very emotional and riveting.

I enjoyed this book, however did find the reading a bit rough at times...didn't flow. But that was minor and I was able to look past the typos and grammar mistakes to enjoy the message and story she was telling.
It was a quick read at only 118 pages and gave me an insight into the world of MBP through the authors true encounter.

This was a wonderful book. Tammy did a wonderful thing and did not give up fighting for her grand children and even ended up being there mother. She did everything she could to ensure the children had good lives.

Interesting story, terrible writing. Tammy truly cares about her grandkids and what she did for them is incredible. Having said that, this is a book that could have (should have) been a longform article.

A very short read of a very sad story. I’d never really thought of munchausen by proxy as a form of abuse but I realized quite quickly that medical abuse is real.
