Dana and Hugo are outcasts, half-breeds living with an infection that has turned almost everyone else in Seattle into mindless flesh-eating zombies.
Armed with the location of Dana'a little sister Max, Dana and Hugo must cross a city crawling with the undead to find her. They face raging fires, trigger-happy gun nuts and former city scum rising to the surface.
It's far from plain sailing as the apocalypse begins to gear up in this, the second installment of the Resistant series.

In the second full book of the Resistant series by outstanding author Perrin Briar, Dana has been separated from her younger sister. With Hugo's help she starts the search for Max, who's been snatched away because of her resistance to the worldwide zombie virus apocalypse.
Who else has this resistance and what effect does this have on their search? Who is Hugo's Dad - is he a good or bad influence on events? Where has Max been imprisoned? How many others are with her? Who are Debbie and Poo Poo Head - and how do they interact with Dana and Hugo? What happens at the eponymous Sanctuary and why is Max no longer there?
Once started you'll be ravenous to eat your way through the pages as fast as you can and then fight your way to the bookshops as fast as you can when the next episode, Offensive, gets there faster than you can yell 'Zombie Apocalypse!'
This follows on from Resistant 0.5 and Resistance (or Juvenile) as the 2nd main book in the Resistant series.
It continues to follow Dana and Hugo as they fight their way through the city, with Dana still desperate to save her sister - Max.
Lots more of the infected as they are trying to cross a major city. We find out a little more about Hugo and his background which fleshes out his character a bit more which makes him easier to understand why he acts as he does.
There are mishaps on the way and let's just say that everyone they meet (including the infected) are not exactly friendly - no one can be trusted - they can only rely on themselves.
They have a lead on where to find Max and Dana is single mindedly focussed on this aim. They are beginning to track what is happening to themselves and wonder if or when they may change into one of the infected.
Lots of intense battles with the infected and some new survivors to meet.
This is another good read - still waiting for the next one to see what will happen to our main characters and the rest of mankind !
I was given an ARC copy of this book by the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Sanctuary is the second book in its series. It is a little slower than some of Perrin's other books but is still good. Hugo and Dana continue their search for Max as well as continue to find out what the new world consists of. Hugo's family life is finally revealed and it makes me wonder how Hugo managed to stay so focused and caring. Dana even though fighting is finally realizing how important Hugo is to her and that he is a part of her life. They find those who were monsters before and after the virus as well as those that have found a newfound place in this world. I loved how the least likely people step up to help Dana and Hugo Hugo. Also Dana is reminded that not everyone can be trusted. I wonder what is truly Poe's issue. Can't wait to read the third installment. I am leaving this honest review after receiving a free copy of this book from the author.
Plenty of action, twists and tense moments in this book as Dana and Hugo continue on their mission to get to Max back, now armed with a location Dana has tunnel vision on where she is going. I found Hugo really developed as a character in this book and really found himself so as much as Dana didn't want to feel an attachment she couldn't help but let it, even if she wouldn't admit it. We also really get to see the world has gone to hell in a hand basket and start to wondering if the people who are dead dead are the much better off! There were a few typos through out but didn't ditract from the story.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is a good and interesting book in which continues to follow the characters of Dana and Hugo as Dana looks to find her sister, Max. It shows them bonding in how they work together so that they can survive in the world that has turned into one that neither one recognizes any longer, but calls it the new society or new world order in which they have to survive along side of the undead without getting killed or turning into one of the "monsters." It is a good book and one that is worth reading.

Dana is on the search for her sister Max. The only problem with that, is finding where Max is being kept and avoid being eaten by hundreds of Zombies. Or, she finally turns into one herself. Or will she? Being that she has already been bitten, or will her resistance stay the same? A MUST read, if you love Zombie books!!
Dana continues the search for her sister Max with her comrade in arms Hugo. Facing one horde after another in her search. Finding some help along the way as well as new problems she struggles on. Well written and action packed I'm hooked and on to the last book.
