C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.

One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.

Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.

Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.

His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.

Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.

Not even okay.

Plot is about conspiracy, but couldn't tell you definitely who was the good or bad people in this story. Has more than enough fights and long descriptions of each fight to make you stop reading. Waste of my time. This book for college age readers.

What Lies Hidden

The book starts out kind of slow but does pick up after about the fifth chapter. I'm not sure how I felt about this book. It didn't seem to be in the same Cooper style I'm used to. There seemed to be some questions that I thought never got answered. I don't know maybe it's just me. But, I've read and reviewed a lot of books and this book gave me a hard time. It was a good mystery and I was shocked in the end by the person of interest. But, as I said there were some questions that I had that maybe I missed in my reading. Maybe it was intentional by the author. This book could stand alone but does leave an opening at the end for more episodes which I'm sure are to come. All and all not a bad book, I'm just not sure I'd be interested in following the series.

ACADEMIC SPIES. What Lies Hidden is the first book in the Spy In Residence series. I love CG Cooper’s other books, so I was anxious to read this new series. This can be read as a standalone but it is open ended for future books. There is violence.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. This is a well written thriller that you could imagine taking place today. There are clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading. Overall it is an interesting storyline and worth taking the time to read. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Whatever Lies Hidden. C. G. Cooper

A clandestine organization of scholarly brilliant people who utilize naive and gullible students to fulfill their agenda which is to replace the current social order and to eliminate western clandestine organizations. The primary character is a CIA operative, a Hawaiian of immense size, well educated who can pose as a educator or guest lecturer at the university currently being used as a base of operation by the radical scholars. Extremely fast paced and well written novel, typical of C. G. Cooper. Enjoyed immensely!

This was probably the best book CG Cooper has written. He has taken a major step in his writing..

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and when I thought I knew where the story was going, I was wrong.... Not what I expected in this novel, I figured it would be more on the corp justice line of novels, man, was I wrong. Glad to see Mr Cooper has honed his craft, I seriously can't wait for the next in this series.....

After reading many books by C.G. Cooper I knew I had to give this book a shot. I'm glad I did. 'What Lies Hidden' was a pretty good thriller. The story line was very intriguing. I liked the layers that peeled away as the story played out. Mac made a great lead. He's good at what he does. Chance was a good add to the case. I enjoyed the dynamic between him and Mac. I look forward to reading more of this series. A good add to your tbr list.

Very much enjoyed What Lies Hidden......

I was thinking nothing could be better than the Corps of Justice books that were written in the past few years, I was wrong. Very much liked the challenge that Mac had finding culprits who killed Tiffany. He was the first huge Hawaiian CIA operative that I have read about who also had
a whole host of psycho problems of his own.
Glad I found this book!!!!!! Amarillo Turtle

I am not impressed with the start of this story. It really does nothing to grab the reader, just musings of characters that mean nothing. I don’t know what Cooper was thinking, but I am thinking if something doesn’t produce shortly I am going to put this down and find something more enjoyable to read. I decided to plod along and there really isn’t much going on. Poor character involvement and weak story line. So at 33% is a waste. 1

Started slow-There are a lot of characters that have multiple names and they are all introduced in a short time... Takes time to sort who everyone is and what there place in the story is.

but the story was good and the writing got better.. I will read the next episode when released.

I would suggest you give it a try as well.-Cooper is a great writer, this is the first of, what I hope will be a new series. I have thoroughly enjoyed ALL of his previous books.

Heart racing suspense, nail biting tension, mind blowing plot this book has it all. From start to finish I was hooked! With each turn of the page I was pulled into the characters as they tried to unravel the mystery surrounding Tiffany's demise.

This has got to be C G Cooper at his best.

I highly recommend this book.

Hidden Deception

What hooks a reader to a book? Of course there's the story line, but more importantly the twists and turns of that story line kept me glued to the book, trying to figure out who's who and which direction it will go, along with a few unexpected issues the characters had to work out. A great read!

Maybe it's me

Maybe it's me but the book was a slow and tedious read that, until the last 10 or so chapters, I had to convince myself to finish reading. I am happy that I did. I do see potential in the theme and the characters that remain. I hope the next in the series is as good as all other CG Cooper I have read.

A new cast of characters from my favorite author.

I enjoyed the storyline although it was a little difficult to follow at times. It was a quick read due to it being so short. I think a few more details would have made it easier to follow. There were some definite editorial mistakes. Overall, a good story and I plan to continue the series.

Very Interesting...

This story is very interesting. I did a bit of flashing back to David Webb in the "Jason Bourne" series with the academia background. Looking forward to the next installment.

That is the question!

A very good read, although I had a little difficulty with the first few chapters. Just wasn’t sucked into the book as much as I like, but didn’t stop and in the end it really was good and now I want to know where Mac will go next.

Danger on campus

Mac is a strong character, plagued by fears from a ghastly war. He had to do well on this job to retain his spot in the organization. But the spies had chemistry on their side and they used their weapons with deadly intent. Fascinating story! Enjoy.

Breakout

The beginning was confusing with the story line. Wasn’t my favorite book from this writer but I still would recommend it.

Not his best

I have read all his Corp Justice books and love them. What Lies Hidden was hard to follow, the characters not developed well, and the plot confusing.

Slow and Dull

Ok, almost 99% of CG Coopers books are Page turners and love to read them, but this one was so slow and dull, with no story, I had to stop at the tenth chapter.

Mac’s next adventure

This book was good, I wasn’t sure I would like it, but as the story progressed I really got into it.
