Ice King might be the pro when it comes to kidnapping princesses but he finds himself on the other side of things when he wakes up to find his faithful companion, Gunther the penguin, has been taken! It's a high flying adventure as Ice King looks for help in the wackiest of places, tries to be cool, and learns something new about himself along the way. Adventure Time storyboard artist Emily Partridge and writer Pranas Naujokaitis (Uncle Grandpa) weave an enchanting tale about friendship and understanding with illustrations by Natalie Andrewson that show the beauty behind ice puns.
Wiz biz... This is all about the Ice King and I love him. Tragic back story, deeper character than one knows in a few episodes. I love the alternate cover art in here. This deals w Giuseppe vs an alternate secret wizard society. Will IK realize he’s best off with Giuseppe or go with a new Wizard society that may not have the best of intentions. And will he get his beloved Gunter back? I love Gunter too. Tom Kenny voices IK on the animated series. Pure joy for me. I am such a huge fan. He voices many of my favorite characters and video game series characters. Love that this might be an IK series now!
Ice King gets seduced by the cool kids after someone kidnaps Gunther, leading to a conflict with a legendary wizard. Along the way he manages to annoy his other wizard friends, have an absurd shopping spree with Marceline and PB, and experience a number of dreams/daydreams/hallucinations about Fionna and Cake. It's fun and silly, and a little more meaty than expected. The overall lesson is pretty traditional, but Ice King and Gunter get some good moments, and the Wizards of Esbats make for an interesting if predictable new factor. The font choice is a little weird, but that's the only real strike against the art, which aims more for light and wispy than the series, but which works well for the story. It's not an epic Adventure Time story, but it's fun enough to be worth the read.
Ice king dream about Fiona & cake even ice queen. Ice queen used her power to control Fiona n cake to praise ice king until the alarm ring. When ice king wake up, eat breakfast n call Gunter - penguin assistant. no matter how many times he call Gunter n try to find it, it got missing. Search over every places even fin & Jake. Ice king put missing poster Gunter over the places until he saw at the refrigerator, the mystery letter n begin to read it so headed to wizard world to find his penguin.

One of my favorite Adventure Time characters, Ice King, really shines in his own graphic novel.
Though his beloved Gunter is missing, the frozen dude gets distracted by his desire to join a new gang - the Dark Moon Esbats - a group that aspires to be "the coolest wizards of all Wizardom!"
My favorite bit was when Princess Bubblegum and Marceline take the King to the mall for a makeover montage. He ends up getting outfits from both Suburban Tailors and Lukewarm Issue.
A funny little story starring the Ice King, a character who evolved quite a lot during the run of Adventure Time. Ice King can be tricky to write as a protagonist but this tale works. We see some of his fractured mind while he navigates new friendships and a quest to find his beloved Gunter. The art has its own style while keeping the characters recognizable.
I had a hard time rating this. I didn't mind the story, but at times it lost the Adventure Time feel and just felt like a present-day after school special. With the almost-endearing, amateur-style art and plethora of spelling mistakes, though, it all felt like a fan fic.
I don't think it's quite as good as Ryan North's run on the core series, and it's a little more forgettable. But I like that the art style is different and it has enough fun to make it worth your time. Your, ADVENTURE, time.
Based upon the title of the graphic novel and the fact it’s considered one of the few canon stories outside of the show, I was hoping it would be more of a deep dive into the complex nature of the character. Instead, it’s an enjoyable romp about trying to fit in and be cool. It’s fun, and if you’re looking for a bit more Adventure Time, it’s worth checking out.
Oh, Ice King. I really just kinda want to go hang out with you and be your friend. He's one of my favorite "bad guys" ever, with an amazing back story and this tendency to be pathetic as much as truly menacing. And I *love* his relationship with Marceline.
A lot of licensed comics have to work with story approval from the parent firm, which among other things ensures the comic doesn't tread on the toes of upcoming stories. Apparently that doesn't hold here, because this opens with the kidnapping of penguin sidekick Gunter - an opening also used by a TV episode which appeared during this comic's run. Beyond that, it's a genial enough mix of Ice King idiocy with a moral about not being fooled by the supposed cool kids. It feels like it skews a little younger than most of the Adventure Time books, but that may just be because this indie comic an art style isn't quite my thing; I'm not sure kids would necessarily appreciate the Aliens references.
This Ice King-centric graphic novel was really cute. The language was spot on with what viewers of the animated series has come to love and expect from AT characters and the majority of chapters read very much like scenes from a typical episode. I had hoped that this installment would further explore Ice King's struggle with madness and even give us more background with Betty, but these issues are just barely touched in the final chapters. Still very well done though. Light-hearted and quick to read, Emily Partridge's treatment of Ice King is a good read for an AT fan and a nice addition to any AT collection.
LOL, I really enjoyed this book! The Ice King is an amusing (if a little sad) character and his quest to find his penguin friend Gunther was full of interesting scenes and characters.
Yeah adventure times not that fun well at least this wasn't, mostly, probably for the little kids but yeah I finished and it's always good to leave a rating and review
